there's something very pleasing about stock blank HHKBs. they're just so clean.

Looking good - I love that combination!

It's only been a day but I can definitely feel that little difference the purple sliders make compared to when I was using stock slider + hyper's rings.

I was on that setup for the longest time so when I installed the purples yesterday I can tell the difference straight away. The board does feel a bit more tactile now and I like it even more.

I have not tried any other method of silencing, but I do think that these sliders don't take anything away from the feel.

I also want to get a second hhkb. Hard to justify though! This looks great! :)

Sounds dangerous! Especially with the state of the CAD right now. :(

MD messed up my order so I will never get my smiling jack :(

Oh and btw, is it supposed to be for fn profile or it's just the angle of the picture?

My Jack is a b-stock so it didn't come from MD  ;)

Yeah it's FN profile.

As close as you can possibly get!

Nice Ribbit :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

The middle? I would guess at whatever point that the cone spring squishes together. It definitely is not at the bottom, but around halfway.

topre/RF keysets are unfortunately pretty rare and/or expensive

I'm thinking that some people who have put novatouch stems on their RF's might not need their default set anymore

I suppose if you're going to spend a bunch on a Topre board, you may as well go all the way and get a Realforce, HHKB, Leopold, etc.  Usually those that go for Topre are enthusiasts or part of the HHKB cult and so they are willing to spend the $$$ on a top of the line board.

Users who have a type heaven aren't the ones who post pictures of their boards.

I'm sure there are tons of type heavens in the wild.

Yeah, i have one, its a great board. I just leave mine at work for people to use though. It gives the most "genuine" Topre experience for the price though, more than the NT at least.

Speaking of cost, does anyone ever feel like the HHKB is insanely overpriced? Like, insultingly overpriced? Sometimes, with mine, I'll go to pick it up or shift it around on my desk and say, "damn, this **** is plasticky as hell."

I was pretty surprised by how light mine was when I first got it, but it doesn't really bother me now. I guess the upside is that it's better for throwing in a backpack or something. Although im not sure I want to just throw my HHKB in a backpack...  I guess the upsides outweigh the downsides in this case.

I'm also working on that metal case for the HHKB ;) Its also not too hard to throw a few rubber pads on the bottom. I also had that custom plate cut to sit in the bottom of my HHKB case by Jack at olkb.co to help with the weight issue. Still, i absolutely agree that it is underwhelming at first, no way around that.

why does no one have Type Heavens??
Users who have a type heaven aren't the ones who post pictures of their boards.

I'm sure there are tons of type heavens in the wild.

It really isn't a bad board. My mom loves hers.

Yeah its super plasticky, and slides around like a son of a **** but it is also best keyboard, so what can you do? I dont mind paying for them haha

You have pics of this custom plate? Sounds interesting.

Sure do, seen here https://www.keychatter.com/2015/08/16/typing-test-hhkb-pro-2-w-55g-domes-ek-landing-pad-mod-lubed-sliders/
Nice, does the plate change the sound at all?

Couldn't resist the 87U any longer, so I grabbed a white one from Massdrop. Can't wait to compare 55g to my HHKB.
