Probably the only Topre I'll ever own.

I had a variable RF, but sold it in less than a day after receiving it.  HHKB is neat, but I don't have any incentive toward owning one. Topre is a nice respite against other mechs though. I like it as a contrast.

Looks like the original case spray painted silver. I could be wrong, but it looks like plastic to me.

I had a variable RF, but sold it in less than a day after receiving it.  HHKB is neat, but I don't have any incentive toward owning one. Topre is a nice respite against other mechs though. I like it as a contrast. :D

Thanks! Yep, the Taiwan Edition. I really like how it looks. I just finished lubing the slider rails, but I don't feel like it was worth it. Not a noticeable change. Lubing the stabs was worth it though.

Hey everybody. I just wanted to say hey! I'm new to the forum and this thread help me make my decision on my new keyboard.

I just picked up my Realforce 87U 55g!



I know it's nothing special yet but I'm loving it. I just ordered the RF mod from Pexon and I was able to get the BroBot War Torn Defender for my first Artisan key. I was able to find a Matt3o round 1 white PBT spacebar as well. I'm trying to hunt down a red or blue spacebar still. It's damn near impossible to find colored modifiers as well!!

I did a bit of research on lubricating Topre, and I saw people recommending Mkawa's thick blend of krytox that techkeys sells. I used it for the stabs as well, though I wanted to get some GPL 205, but couldn't justify buying a tube of it just for the stabs.

I'm not a fan of how Pexon's RF cable looks, no disrespect to him or his work. I think I'm going to keep it stock. I might think of a detachable cable mod later, but I'm happy as is. :)

The majority of boards in the Topre thread are stock boards with different keycaps, lol. The stray digilog, the hydrodipped HHKB, artisans galore.

Not much variation in the Topre world. Norbauer's CNC'd NT case and the custom adjustable ergo Topre board that another member is working on are a bit different.

Thanks! That is a Bro Gamer set so those are meant to be there. The layering of the resin is slightly different in the keys so it comes off as odd in some photos.

Inverted space bar is the way to go!
Yeah, it's a Krap ChickKey. And to think I almost parted with it for cash as I didn't have anything to pair it with; then Massdrop did the drop for the green space bar and the cap was saved.

How's the spacebar? I'm waiting for mine.

It's...okay. I think some bars are rougher than others. I received a dark gray one as well as orange and green. The dark gray one feels closer to matt3o's original bars from round 1, whereas the orange and green ones have a lot rougher finish on top. I usually like grainier feel, but considering this is on such a bigger surface area it's a little distracting.
