Here's the original group buy for GMK Cyan modifier keyset, but we've decided turning it into full set. http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=62048.0

We're done with most keys, just need some help with ISO keys. For now, we're planning to change the R3 \| key to R4 which fits right next to 1.25 left shift. The other keys should remain as is.

We're planning to provide three sets and two extra keys.

Set #1: Base set


Set #2: LED add-on set


Set #3: `~ and \| keys in cyan in order to have a balanced color matching.

Key 1: Blank Cyan R4 (bottom row) 1.25 Key

Key 2: Blank Cyan R4 1.00 key


MOQ for the base set is 50, the MOQ for the other keysets and keys is 150 (this 150 MOQ will be shared with a group buy in China, so it shouldn't be that hard to reach).

The group buy price for the base set is around $120 depending on if we're going to add any keys to this set.

For ISO you need 4 extra keys in total:

1x ISO enter key (cyan with white legends)
1x 1,25 left shift key (cyan with white legends)
1x R3 alpha key (white with cyan legends) normally "~#"
1x R4 alpha key (white with cyan legends) normally "|\"

Since all the legends are wrong for me anyway I don't care what's on the extra ISO alpha keys as long as they are NOT blank!

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Based on the GMK color samples I've seen floating around, I think 3K or 2M would look great. It wouldn't really alter the overall look of this set, only add some more contrast to the alphas and give it more of that great vintage TA vibe.

The problem is that color is a result of fading, the caps were not that color originally and there isn't really anything close to that to use in GMK's catalog of colors.

GMK MOQ for custom color is 700 units (they have a minimum order from their materials vendor). It's not any more expensive, but probably not feasible for us due to the scale required.

UN6037 on UN33656 (cyan on magenta) sounds good to me. Not sure why we need the UN33656 on U9 though. I think it doesn't match with cyan.

The ~# only makes sense on UK layouts where there's a 3£ instead of a 3# key.

No ANSI user will pay for this ****load of caps (I wouldn't either) and there is no way we can reach MOQ of 250 for this set.

I think it's good enough to have 2 generic Alpha keys plus the left shift + ISO Enter to complete an ISO set.

No, every kit has to have at least 250 orders while PMK allows orders as low as 10.

That's actually Apple's version of the English International ISO layout. I don't think GMK has a `~ for R4.

Ivan's Dolch does have the \| key twice. One for R3 and one for R4, so that's always an option. Depending on whether it's a huge impact in price or not, maybe R3 #~ and \| as well as an R4 \| might be an option? This way both US and UK ISO users would be happy(ish).

US ISO has the \| key next to enter. The key next to left shift can be same or blank, though on Windows it actually does nothing so is most often left as blank. If you want to have UK ISO then you could always just include the 5 GB layout specific keys as it wouldn't be more than a couple EUR cost increase and you would have a proper GB layout not half assed one.

I doubt it man. Not many boards actually use those and GMK sets are pricey enough already without adding heaps of keys very few people will use.

As far as I know, UN0001 is GMK's pure white. A few of us Triumph Adler fans requested light grey earlier in the thread because it would look closer to the TA color scheme we love, but it looks like the colors are set already. The pink color pack really only matches with the pure white, so that confirmed it for me. I am a bit concerned about how well the cyan legends on the alphas will show up on the pure white though. However, I do know from looking at the pics from Ivan's Dolch color pack that White on Cyan looks awesome.

Doesn't light grey ruin all the possible mix and match possibilities with all previous GMK gbs (Dolch, Purple Mods, CMYW, RGBW)? Seems to me that having it white makes it better to play with combinations (white alphas/purp mods, dolch alphas/cyan mods).

Pretty sure the white/light gray is for the alphas base color, not the lettering, which is cyan. So there should be no difference when matching with other sets.

well you still end up with white lettering on your mods with base light grey alphas, looks like it would stick out like a sore thumb

EDIT : I am just saying if we want to do Faux TA is fine, but if we want to mix and match with other sets, which is kinda important I find, that light grey wont cut it

You have, but the resulting photograph, as it's portrayed on my calibrated monitor, still shows incorrect color for cyan--too blue where it should be more teal--I own GMK's "cyan" keycaps.  So while white balance may have been correct, color accuracy is also dependent on other factors, such as camera RAW data processing, post-processing, saturation/vibrancy settings, both of our monitors, etc., etc.  In short, it's nice to have reference colors in a photograph.

That diversion aside, thank you for confirming that it's not pure white!!

It's not as grey as the Dyesub but not as clear white as the SP white one. Though the differences are marginal at best.

i don't think the color of the base will break the compatibility of the alpha with other sets.
i think the color of the legend (cyan) on the alpha kit will be more noticeable when mixed with other sets.

I'm going to be buying the base set. No light grey alphas, but at least the GMK white is not as clear, bright white as SP's. JaccoW's comparison pic helped me make my decision. I think feng is just waiting on the quote from GMK now. He said that about a week ago, so hopefully this buy will be up and running soon!
