Pretty new to mechanical keyboards.  Spent a LOT of time online, looking and drooling, but my physical experience with mechanical keyboard switches is confined to a Cherry MX Sampler, with naught but blue, brown, red, and black switches, and my new Corsair K70 with red switches.  I'm liking it, it's not as difficult to type as some have made it out to be, BUT I admit I am not a professional typist.  I am, however, a long, long, long time user of dome keys, and so far I'm delighted with this new keyboard.

The actuation force for these reds is awesome!!!  Except I keep bottoming out the keys every time like I'm typing on a free dell keyboard.  I need some O rings.  Big ones, to minimize travel distance!  If anyone can help me on that mission, I'd appreciate it.

Beyond that, I'm looking forward to lurking here!

The other thing you'll come to like about mechanical keyboards is that they do not degrade over time - the feeling each switch has now is pretty much as it will be for the next good few years.

And there is nothing wrong with bottoming out - I bottom out all the time on all my keyboards, including buckling spring

Ah, I know it's no sin to bottom out the keys, but as a gamer who plays a lot of hyper-caffeinated twitch titles, travel time matters.  I would have a heck of a time getting acclimated to half-presses to get the 2mm actuation, and then releasing to do it again.  It will just be easier with fat o rings that put the effective bottom right past actuation.  I have to do a lot of double taps of keys to perform dodges in the game, and the sooner intent is converted to action, the better.

Even if it makes absolutely zero difference, and I end up pressing the key longer to compensate, and harder to get the exact same sound, which are both unlikely, I GOTTA play around with my new keyboard.  The sampler came with o rings, but has one even really evaluated a switch or an o ring before one has tried an entire keyboard full of them?

Yes, indeed!

I have an O-ring sampler and placed a couple of O-rings on the keys I used most (at the time).  It made a difference, but I felt that the difference took the keyboard away from what I liked (this was MX blues), so I took them off.  At least I think I took them off.

Actually, thinking back, the O-rings might still be on those keycaps, as that particular keyboard has a different set of keycaps on it now. )
