BRO CAPS FAREWELL V2 AUCTION - over
« on: Tue, 07 July 2015, 12:39:53 »
https://ctrlalt.io/bro-caps/the-farewell-v2-auction

hey there guys

we are holding an auction to say goodbye to the brobot v2

here is your chance to own a piece of history

this is what bro caps has to say

"These prototypes are CNC milled Aluminum 6061-T651. They are based on the final V2 BroBot design, the design that truly began my work as an Artisan.

I hope to find these a good home, with someone who will appreciate the time and effort put into creating a memorable and thoughtful icon. I felt these would be a great send-off for an end to a product I am proud to have enjoyed by so many fans.

Each part will include:

A certificate of authenticity
A golden dibs ticket (good for the maximum amount of any future sale)
A surprise keycap in the same switch type as the accompanying purchased keycap
Thank you for being a part of all of this, and making Bro Caps what it is today.

-Bro"

there were the original prototypes, and were among the first ever v2s crafted, and the first of the final design

these are being auctioned to fund future projects

THESE WILL BE THE LAST EVER V2S SOLD BY BRO CAPS

in order to bid, please place one cap in your basket, and leave your bid in the donation amount

https://ctrlalt.io/bro-caps/the-farewell-v2-auction

i will keep the highest bid regularly updated in the first post of this thread

the auction will be up for 36 hours

good luck

winning tickets

topre - $949.99 - #60892B6C-51BC-4FC1-96B8-69A38F2D2BCD
mx - $888 - #410314D3-5DE1-4726-930B-E731B9A0914F

Bid 100$, not likely to win with that amount though. Great looking caps regardless, looking forward to the future projects!  :thumb:

Very respectable bids so far.

Above my limit, unfortunately.

Everyone wins again :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

hey guys, i ****ed up when i calculated the end time, i thought it was ending midnight my time, but its not its ending about 6am my time

i am absolutely not staying awake till 6 as i got almost no sleep last night, so we have 2 options, i can bring the end time forward to about 1.30am my time (about 4 and a half hours off auction time) or i can extend the auction slightly, to some time tomorrow when im awake

quick show of hands for each option would be great an ill make the decision accordingly

Yup, either they belong on a board or in a display case on a wall to be appreciated on a daily basis.  I don't understand the hoarder mentality of hiding the coolest stuff in a box just so no-one else can have it, such a waste :(

well, with this being aluminium, constant use and exposed to skin oil might just rust it, you know. I say put them in a display case.

Hadn't thought of that... Could always put it on Scroll Lock.  Actually if I won I'd be tempted to build a board with a non-connected key at the top right in the middle so it had a proper home.

Then again, would it be considered sacrilege to get it anodized?  Then it could be used normaly :)

Those are insane prices, but definitely reflect the quality and detail that Bro puts into his work :)
In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

i have to say, it is shocking how many people cant read, i think i have about 200 entries of people bidding 0

for anyone confused with the instructions

here is a visual aid

http://i.imgur.com/MwyMZHl.jpg

enjoy

LOL

How are people bidding 0? Isn't the default $2? I think you've just got some trolls  :p

Anyways, congrats to the winners! Funny prices, even if they are insane (as predicted, ~1K per cap too, but surprised to see Topre be more expensive). Looking forward to pictures of the mystery cap!

JK! Gratz to the winners. Hope you put it on a board that you use regularly, and keep posting in Brocaps Gallery. (Whats the point of winning if you can't rub it in everyone's faces :p)

That is actually an awesome idea!

I think a deep-black Type III hard anodizing would look amazing if you want a crazy durable stealth cap. Colours would be nice and vibrant as well, but I prefer the stealth look.

Orange would look really cool as well, for a Skidata set :D

I hope BroCaps will offer more CNC'd aluminum caps in the future; I'd love to see what people would do with them.

Yup :D

Just one question. What does the Bro count mean?
How often I have tried to get a Bro ?

It's how many caps you'd like to buy if you get the chance.  You can add lots to your cart so if some sell out you still have a chance at the rest but if you want to limit your spending you can only ask for 1 or 2 :)
