Just upgraded my desk. This is getting pretty close to my ideal setup. Wouldn't mind some smaller and better speakers than these cheap Logitech ones, and maybe in a perfect world I'd get the Mini mounted under the desk or something. And possibly a bluetooth mouse to cut one more cord out. But I'm digging the wood top and how the HHKB resonates on it :)

Unfortunately I had a rather boring look on the KUL when this was take.

Other notable mentions include that extremely comfortable desk chair.

It was much cheaper than a decent chair + an adjustable keyboard tray. Compared to a cheap sitting setup, my legs don't feel "weak" and wobbly after longer sessions, I don't slouch, and the keyboard is in proper height. There's also much more space for crap; for example, I can put a cup of tea on the bottom desk without any risk of spilling it on my keyboard.

I'd appreciate a stool every now and then though… like whenever I have to code all day long.

I like that I can walk around and think without any overhead (= standing up).

What's the longest you've been able to stay standing? I'm in my feet all day at work, after 8 hrs my feet are killing me.

Dunno, I walk around a lot, sometimes read in an armchair (it actually overlaps into the first photo) or squat over the potty. Maybe up to four hours at a time? Prolonged standing is linked to varicose veins though.

Thanks! It's just one strip of duct tape across the bottom. Add three more pieces to the right and it's the width of a TKL, and another three is the width of a full-sized board. Bonus: it folds for travel.

Try the Dawgs Pro shoes. Those used to solve all the feet fatigue when I used to work 10+ hours in the Restaurant industry.

Dark wooden desks always look so classy :)

Except mine, which is black, about 30 years old and heavily chipped and scratched.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

So I picked up an awesome cable tray from Ikea its the Signum and it was only $10. I know wire management is a headache but this tray worked out amazingly for me. I didn't run into anyone mentioning it on here so I thought I would bring it up.

So I picked up an awesome cable tray from Ikea its the Signum and it was only $10. I know wire management is a headache but this tray worked out amazingly for me. I didn't run into anyone mentioning it on here so I thought I would bring it up.

I have one of those - it is great ... until you want to move your hardware somewhere else.  Then it's a nightmare to untangle all the cables.

I noticed that when I started so I grouped all my cables and Velcro wrapped them before they went in the tray.

Got a new external HDD enclosure, and waiting for my Pexon Realforce cable. Everything else the same, so quite a solid setup for me now. Standing desk is great by the way! Especially when you have a little boy who likes cables...
