November? Usually i try to let every vendor know that they should close it down on the final day 23:59 their local time zone. So November 1st 23:59 - but syncing a closure across all vendors is always difficult and some keep it open for an extra day or so by mistake. My recommendation is to not wait until the final hours. :))

It'll feature a custom sleeve! Design is yet TBD - but likely a very scaled down minimalistic sleeve like for nines.

Hey man, sorry to hear that you feel that way. :/
I'm not so sure if forced accenting has become a thing, but in the case of firefly it was a design decision on my part. I was aware that it will not be for everyone and that scenarios such as this one will occur, but this was the way I envisioned this set. It may sound very stubborn, I know. deaccent being the child kit that is doing the best speaks on how there might be more people sharing your feelings on the matter.

the keyboard is tgr910, one of the most beautiful keyboard ever, and if you looking at right now at market price, it's really expensive. I also understand why he was getting mad because of accents key. He means the legend color, it was the original way for me to accent the set. It is okay to have an opinion on it, I don't mind. ❤️

It's not doing too bad, it's doing its own thing among all these titans running simultaneously. Base should make it just fine, but childkits besides deaccent will need to pick up moving forwards. I'll see what I can do towards that. :)

Well I think most sets running now can be considered the next big thing as well, really good stuff coming out!
That said, firefly is different and not everyone understands my design i think, maybe that's why? About 60-70% of people buying base are also buying the deaccent kit which inherently kills my original design. It's ok, though, I like to offer options and love seeing people interested regardless of their personal take and preference on firefly! :)

Looking alright as we head into the stagnation period that's is about mid way. Sales usually pace down significantly from this point until the final couple of days where there's usually a burst. Not so worried for base and deaccent, but the goal is - no child left behind.

It exists, but I can't track down where I got mine. Tbh, it looks nice, but I never use it. A cap puller with a round handle feels nicer to use, and the switch puller is too flimsy when the switches are tight in the plate.
I would just ship you mine but I live in the States.

You're right, we got to pick up the pace until the GB closes Friday next week! I am not so worried about the Base, Deaccent already made it!
Any purchase of a child kit is one step towards making it - I doubt we will reach MOQ on customer side for the remaining kits, but each purchase puts me in a better position in ensuring that everything is made despite not selling to MOQ.

I can confidently say that the set will make it, but as of right now I can't say the same for every child kit.

I think Kono is a proper business and work business hours, so ending it midnight on a friday meant that it will close today - which is fine, extra orders don't hurt and we can't place an order with GMK during the weekend anyway. You're in! :P

Samples arrived, but at least two colors need to be remade. Base and peach. I will share the difficulties I am facing soon when I'm at a pc!

Unfortunately, they were on a "back order", which means they place an order with their supplier after the customer places the order, and it took a long time to get to me. I could've cancelled the GB and postponed, but I liked the date as it wasn't dracula territory etc.
- The RALs don't look like I expected them to, none of the 4. This makes it difficult for me to ask GMK to colormatch, as I have nothing physical to present them in terms of what I want.
- I receive the first samples, and they're matched the RALs damn near perfectly - which doesn't help us, as the RALs are not what we want.
The main gripe I got is with RAL 5011, it is simply too dark. In bright sunlight it does resemble what we are after, but in normal indoors lighting it is very dark, near black. Basically, imagine GMK Phantom base purple, that's what's happening with that color. The other colors are passable, but I still want to change the peach too, to a more saturated peach. The light blue and purple complement each other well, while not being exact matches to the expected color. For now I am keeping the lighter blue and purple, they are good colors and close.
We are working with GMK now to sort out how we can move forward with the sampling process in the best way. I am committed and dedicated to delivering a set which is to my expectation, even though the situation to do so isn't the best.
I don't want to compromise for my own sake, but first and foremost I don't want to let anyone else down either. This means it might take a little while to get the colors down, but we will get there one way or another.
Basically a rookie mistake not having RALs in hand (even prior to IC, let alone GB). Take notes and learn from my mistake, upcoming designers.
The next set I launch will have cleared color samples before I even post an IC.

I'm sorry, I'm just a little confused. Were you unable to use a RAL book to accurately judge the colors you had chosen beforehand? I always assumed GMK samples are used to make sure they (GMK) manufacture the caps to spec, not for the designer to decide they actually like that color. If I understand you correctly, the timeline for the GB now no longer exists and will remain in the air until you are able to figure out what colors you actually intended to use all along?

No you misunderstood me, sorry if I wasn't clear with the time line. To summarize, the colors were 'scouted' using hex representations online. Once I found rals online that I liked, I ordered them specifically to make sure they look like I want them to look in real life. This was well before gb, but they didn't reach me until gb was starting. Once I got them in hand, they looked nothing like what I expected them to - or well, the ral representation on the front page.
At this point, there were renders that I liked and the feedback was based on those set colors. So, even if I had the rals, I likely wouldn't have changed them anyway. There's no RAL that is closer, as I ordered multiple shades of each color to have a "failsafe", which unfortunately didn't help at all as they were all off.
In any case, I don't expect delays to be very long. The sampling process can take a while even with physical objects to compare to, so this doesn't thrown off the time line more than any other scenario might have.
In any case, I have colors from the plastic series and the design series, not even gmk had access to the plastic series. I don't think a majority of designers have access to physical rals prior to IC, which I now recommend everyone to do (yeah, might seem like common sense). As I said, learn from my mistake.
I'll do everything I can to deliver what you, me and WE expect from firefly - this is just for transparency.

For the finalized samples, I will send them to the best photographer in our hobby (IMO) for accurate shots - but I don't want to post any because I don't have the equipment or knowledge to take such images.
However, a lot of people have been talking about how this set is turning into GMK Necro, or that the set is doomed and there's no way we will have a final product close to the renders.
I decided to post an image of the samples to show that it is not about to be a necro, and we are not a million miles away from being close to matching the colros correctly. They are however still off, and I will correct that.
So note again: I don't have equipment or knowledge in order to take accurate shots and these are rejected samples.

I'm trying to get them neutral to the expected colors where they will look similar to the outdoor renders outdoors, and indoor renders indoors. :)
However, keep in mind that they're just that - renders - and it will never be a 1;1.

Not good enough! :D I want it to be as close as possible, and I'll do everything towards that.
Regarding delays, it's not confirmed that there will be any as opposed to if we had the correct RALs off the bat. You're given a production slot upon ordering, and hopefully the colors will be sorted out before Fireflys production slot is up. :)

Yes, that looks like the plastic series. This set does not featue any plastic series anymore besides the lighter blue, the rest are design series. :)

To my understanding, GMK does not actively have access to RAL Plastic series. I had to send in my own chips to them for matching.
They have the full design-series catalogue, though.
In theory you can choose any color you like, but results will vary and GMK prefers RAL to my understanding. I think sets in the past have been (mis)matched to hex codes, but if you're pursuing to create a set of your own, it would be best to take that discussion with GMK through a vendor.

They have the full design-series catalogue, though.
In theory you can choose any color you like, but results will vary and GMK prefers RAL to my understanding. I think sets in the past have been (mis)matched to hex codes, but if you're pursuing to create a set of your own, it would be best to take that discussion with GMK through a vendor.

Yeah production slot was missed unfortunately, I suspect the same thing happened to other sets, too.

Colors are not completely 1:1 perfect, but they are good, especially considering the starting point of having to start from scratch after the GB. The blue is now ever so slightly too light, but there is no closer blue in the RAL Design catalogue.
This option is better than R1 blue base, that was good in bright sunlight, but looks black in indoors lighting. Rather slightly too bright than way too dark, and it is still close. (See GMK Phantom as an example of this)
Because of the circumstances, I will offer to buy every unopened kit for the GB pricing if you decide it is not the GMK Firefly you bought into.
To me, the colors look like GMK Firefly even if the shades of color might be a tiny bit off (this is also why we have renders in different lighting conditions), it is still good and no color is too pale/too saturated or anything like what we have been seing from other sets.
If you doubt this, please wait for images to start to surface from me and others before opening your kit, and if you are unhappy with the results, I will buy every kit personally so that you can get your money back without the hassle of mechmarket.
I think the differences are not noticable and you will still feel like you will get the set you bought into, but the least I can do is offer this buyout due to my inexperience that caused this situation where we had to find all new RALs.

Not really disappointed just kinda bummed out. Firefly is my favorite set of the year so I hope it turns out okay. I don't mind the changes in the base that much, just hope that the salmon/orange is vibrant on the blue base. Why not share some pics of r2 samples?

Does this mean you can possibly squeeze me on a base kit if there's spares available? I will buy one no matter what it looks like, I love this set and have regretted not getting in. I know that we are in the early stages but please let me know if you are seeing people wanting to opt out.

I believe extremely few, if any, will be dissapointed enough to want to return it, that's why I am taking on this risk.
It might sound like a huge deal and everything is a catastrophe, but it is the opposite. I am always honest with you guys and therefore me phrasing it this way might seem like doomsday. I stand by the set, it will look like firefly.

Someone in my discord asked me if I am happy with this. The honest answer is no, I always strive for 1:1 perfection, which just wasn't possible the way this GB turned out where we had to scavenge for new RALs.
I am disappointed in myself for letting that happen and my offer of course still stands to buy back everyones kit if they are not satisfied.
What I confidently can say though, this is the closest we will get with the RAL catalogue at our disposal. I still believe it represents GMK Firefly well and hope you will feel the same way.

Yes, eu customers are receiving theirs right now.

I didn't know what to think because images on the internet have sent mixed signals whether the colors are matching or not. I have now received my set and I must say that colors are completely fine. If there hadn't been any drama on the colormatching I would have never doubted that these are the correct colors. No issues at all - came out all nice!

they are not that orange. my white balance is a bit off in that shot. you can also see that by looking at the supposedly white keycaps of gmk minimal which have a yellowish sheen to them.
the accents are less saturated and less yellow in person.
