Beetwaaf,
Leftover sale will start soon after GB is fulfilled, in a few weeks probably.

stand.geek,
Keymap Editor doesn't support defining macros at thiis time at least.

If you build firmware from source code with macro definitions you can edit keymap including the macros in Keymap Editor theoretically. But you won't need Keymap Editor in fact when you can write and compile source code :D

Alps64 default firmware doesn't include any macro definitions you can't use macro(ACTION_MACRO) in keymap.

Ah too bad  :(

So I think this is the right time to start learning about firmware  ;D
Any simple tutorial / documentation as a starting point?

You can refer to this keymap doc and  my keymap as an example. No further documentation for MACRO you may have to look into tmk_core source code.

https://github.com/tmk/tmk_keyboard/blob/master/tmk_core/doc/keymap.md
https://github.com/tmk/tmk_keyboard/blob/master/keyboard/hhkb/keymap_hasu.c#L219-L239
https://github.com/tmk/tmk_keyboard/blob/master/tmk_core/common/action_macro.h

Alright thanks! will look into it right now  :)

I bought the FR-4 plate to try out with my blue alps build, but I've never typed on a board with a plate like this.  What's it going to feel like?  very flexible?

I'm also curious about what people say on FR-4 plate comparing to steel. Try it yourself and share your thought!

I have one with FR-4+blue switches and other with cutout AEK plate+orange and both have plastic Poker X case. I could not find difference in terms of firmness on those two. On Poker style case design plate is completely floating and not fixed on any of PCB and case, unlike some of custom design keyboards. I think, in this case plate plays role primary to align switches laterally and it has enough horizontal hardness for that while it has virtually no or the least effect on reinfocing vertically. Case material and structure may have more effect on overall firmness and feel, I don't have any heavy metal case to compare though.

no noticeable flex difference here also. fr-4+blues in plastic case VS SS+salmon in alum pok3r case.

Sorry if this has been covered before, lots of pages to look through.  I've dealt with SP alps caps now and I understand the stabilizer situation.  I would like to avoid making my own wires again like I did the last time.

Has anyone found an off-the-shelf plate with either plate-mounted cherry or costar stabilizers that works with this PCB?

[Leftover Sale]
Currently leftover pcbs from UK GB(2017/04) are available. It is identical electrically and has no confirmed flaw.

Differences from the latest 10th GB(2017/08) PCB are only two:
1) It has Alps logo instead of TMK logo.
2) It has no breakout pads for unused pins(C4, C6, C7).

This is pcb from UK GB.

This is the latest revision of pcb for reference.

Check the first post. Thanks

Just soldered the diodes and loaded firmware, works great! Fits absolutely perfect in my Pok3r case. Now just crossing my fingers that the plate I ordered from Lasergist works as I hope it does.

Well, I've fixed the issue with that -,=,[,] and / not working by simply replicating the A-face connections on the B-face. Looks like I've killed some diodes during desoldering and most likely damaged few traces.
Now the board looks awful, but at least it's working. Time to flash firmware.

Lol, can't flash it now.
Steps:
1. Created KBPv60-like layout at http://www.tmk-kbd.com
2. Downloaded unimap.hex.
3. Installed Flip with JRE included, launched it and connected to the keyboard.
4. Selected unimap (load HEX) and tried to start application but it fails with "Could not write to USB device"

It looks like the PCB enters bootloader mode for several seconds only, cause when the keyboard is responsive, Flip returns "Could not open USB device", then I press the button and able to open connection. After I select hex to flash and press "start application" it just returns that "Could not write to USB device" and keyboard is active again.

Unfortunatelly, dfu-programmer doesn't even start on my system now, so I'm stuck with Flip, unless it is possible to flash it with msys

Thanks, Hasu.
Actually, it wasn't a driver issue, but incorrect instructions in the forum message:
Quote
Make the layout you want and export the hex file with the button at the bottom.  Open up the copy of FLiP you downloaded and plug in your keyboard.  Press the chip button on the left, and select your chip.  This PCB uses the ATmega32u2.  Then click the next button to the right and connect via USB, opening the connection.  While doing this, press the button on the back of your PCB.  It may take a few tries to connect correctly.  When you get it, load your hex file and Start Application.

The part Run operations is ommited here, but in your link it is there and I was able to flash the board.

The flash was successful and I'm typing this on my new board with SKCM whites and DSA LC.

Received my plate from Lasergist today, fit perfectly. Soldered some SKCM Orange switches on and topped it with DSA Light Cycle. Works fantastic! This PCB has been an excellent base, I will probably buy another in the near future. Now just to wait on a cyan case from KBDfans.

Yeah, I got some of the UK edition PCBs brought over so figured I'd order a few and make the most of it, plus there's a few switch and cap combinations I want to build up so it'll be a nice little collection I guess.

I tried some lubed and spring-swapped Oranges at the MKUK meetup recently and they were fantastic, so I've got some being built up for me. The Cream Damped I got quite cheap, they're quite rough though, and I imagine the Browns I have coming will be too as they've just been desoldered from an old IBM. I think I'll need to try ans get them ultrasonic cleaned, hopefully that'll restore them

Has anyone built a 'proper' HHKB layout with an Alps64 and if so, what keycaps are you using? I have a KBDFans Tina on the way which has the HHKB layout allowing the 6u space, but I'm unsure what keycaps (new or old) would be compatible with this..

Costar style from a KBP V80. The biggest thing needed for me to get them to fit was a completely straight wire without the bend in the middle, which is why I took them from my V80 as the ones I bought online had the bend, which impacted the switch housing.

Yes, I built mine in HHKB layout. I used Alpine Winter keycaps.

The Alps cover 65% of Switzerland's surface area (41,285 km²), making it one of the most alpine countries. Despite the fact that Switzerland covers only 14% of the Alps total area (192,753 km²),[2][3] many alpine four-thousanders (48 of 82) are located in the Swiss Alps and practically all of the remaining few are within 20 km of the country's border.

Splitting the spacebar as 2.75/1.25/2.25 or the reverse would be nice for the basic split spacebar layout. But  I don't know if finding Alps keycaps would be easy for this layout ( I'm going for either SP keycaps or MX converters).

Hey Hasu, if this is the wrong place to ask this, sorry. Any chance for the split space support before this year ends?

No plan at this time.
But like to hear about preferable layout of bottom row and source of keycaps from you guys for future refrence.

wonder if its possible to do something with the M0116 layout.

Its so wonderfully weird.

Hi I'm quite new to this so please don't crucify me if it is a dumb question. So my question is if this pcb supports the "infinity" layout with a split right shift and 4 keys right from the spacebar, because it is not listed with the supported layouts but looking at the pcb it looks to me like it would work and also there is a xdf file with a plate for that layout.

[PreOrder]
Leftover pcbs from last round have all gone and out of stock now.
Next batch of the pcb will be available within a month. Anyway I will order componetns enough to assembly some tens of pcb soon.

If you don't mind paying earlier and waiting for several weeks you can place order now. Check first post please.

Thank you

Emailed you hasu :)   Thanks.  Just picked up an old Apple Extended Keyboard II so I can build with this PCB + plate!  :)

Yes, it supports Infinity layout.
You can put together from any of Bottom row, Top right(backspace), Left shift, Right shift and Enter configurations listed in 'Supported Layouts',  press 'MORE' to see detail. Images in the section are just examples, that do not display all combinations of the configurations.

you need "Infinity"(1.5+1+1.5 spc 1.5+1+1+1.5) configuration for "Bottom row",  "HHKB like Split Backspace"(1+1) for "Top right" and "HHKB like Shift + Fn"(1.75+1) for "Right shift".
