Here's an interesting video I found for those who are in this GB:

Sounds quite different! Part of it is probably due to LED vs no LED.

This was my video, the Kmac is 59g clear and the Eagle is from my friend, assembled with 62g clear, I just did a quick comparison. The different in sound firstly come from the lubing, the kmac and the eagle were lubed by different ppl as u can see in this video that i press the switches only, the sounds are totally differnt.

Secondly, the eagle was assembled with 2x3x4mm led. If u put on the GMK keycap, it scratch the inside of the keycap and it will make keycap can't be bottom out, it acts likes an unexpected O-ring lol, however it works well with SP keycap. My advice is assembled with 1.8mm led.

I personally dont think the springs can create the different in sound that much ^^

Best regards.

This is probably why I didn't like the clears on my Orion. It was assembled with the square leds and the switches felt scratchy as hell to me : /

Just clip/sand the edges of the LEDs down  ;)

Hey there elton5354, I just received a pretty last minute invoice for Duck Eagle and while I was thrilled about it, is it possible that I pay the invoice tomorrow instead of today? Thing is, I just bought something using my paypal and pretty much short on cash atm. I can probably get the money by tomorrow and pay it.

damn, I bought all 2x3x4 LEDs. Guess I'll have to go get some 1.8mm LEDs too. Good thing I'm using SIP sockets so it really doesn't matter if they don't fit right. I can just swap them out later.

2x3x4 LEDs should fit just fine. They typically sit below the top of the switch top. See for yourself in these photos courtesy of Photoelectric.

Nothing wrong with 2x3x4 LEDs. They definitely touch the cap when you bottom out with thicker caps on the middle rows, but you can sand/clip the edges for better fit.

I used 2x3x4mm led on my 38GT with GMK Olivetti, never experienced that "unexpected O-ring" problem

Unless I missed something, they're not supplying an Alps plate either. Can Matias switches be PCB mounted?

wait... for real? how are you going to make an Alps compatible PCB and not include the proper plate?

I guess they didn't wanna shoulder the costs of manufacturing the alps plates, when most people were gonna be using mx switches.

Didn't they supply the specs so people could get one cut?

nothing I can do about bad taste... but there really should be an option for an Alps plate...

guess we'll just have to make one? kind of irks me that it wasn't an option since we've already had a few hhkb style MX-based boards and this is the first Alps one so I felt like the non-MX crowd should have been catered to more.

Yeah, post 'em up in the OP?

Maybe I'm vastly underestimating the amount of people that grabbed this thing for Alps compatibility.

Outside of sending files to Shawn and mailing out plates... Ok, I need a P.R. person... Who wants it?

Yeah I think it'd be a good idea to get the specs and have some made up. I'm interested in getting some clear and maybe some colour tinted sides depending on the cost.
