Ipad keyboards?

For you ipad users what do you use. I just ordered an ipad. Wanting to use it at times for work, which would mean using it as a word processor.

I got a little adapter that supposedly will make it work with a wired USB keyboard, so sometimes I will do that but thats not super portable.

Any of the folding keyboards worth a darn (not wanting to break the bank)

Slim Folio is okay, case is crap though. I mainly type sentences without a mechanical keyboard, however i need it once in a while to recover from Membrane keyboard rehab

Yeah I was looking at the slim folio (doh just realized I put this in the keycaps section, if a mod wants to move it?)

It is probably the one I will go with. What do you not like about the case?

I have the very first one that Logitech came out with that doubles as a case.....it does the job but is nothing special.  I always just use the onscreen keyboard since it's faster and if I need to type a lot, I just work around it and wait until I'm at a normal computer.

The best one I've ever used, the Brydge, may be outside your price range. But dang, it is worth it. Granted, I only type on it when I don't have a true mechanical keyboard connected, but when I do type on it, I am always happy with its build quality. And because of its design, it is very easy to pull the iPad out and separate the two.

I looked at those and I could totally wait a minute and spend the $100. The thing I don't like as nice as it looks, is that the ipad is now bare. They have the plastic shell thing but thats another $40. The thing I like about the folio style is it doubles a s a case. It does look nice and solid though. I currently bought a little adapter to use a wired keyboard. It works well but of course requires power. Plus the ipad still often will open the on screen keyboard, and on certain apps if you close the on screen keyboard the cursor will disappear. I thought about carrying a little 60% around with it but it kind of kills the whole "small and portable" aspect.

On screen is faster? Really? I find it very slow. And only useful for simple things like sending a text or responding on a forum, and even that is frustrating. I prefer a normal computer but wanting this to work as a semi-productive option to get some real work done but have it be very portable.

If that’s one of the models with a lightning bolt charging port, you can buy apple’s proprietary lightning-to-usb (female) dongle that will allow you to plug any normal usb (male) keyboard cable. The only issue is that for some keyboards that require more power (most) you also need to have the iPad plugged in and charging (which luckily the dongle accounts for by adding an extra lightning bolt port).

If you mean an IPad Pro 11 with a USB C port, I use a USB C hub with a keyboard plugged in to it.  Some hubs work better than others for me, due to a wonky connection because the cable doesn’t go into the case well.
