I realized I never updated here... my bad! Thought I had.

Shipment to vendors has already left China. However, some Chinese customers have already received their sets and have raised complaints about the spacebars experiencing too much shrinkage. Keyreative will be remaking the spacebars! This will cause a few more weeks delay as the vendors will have to receive both shipments before shipping out orders.

TLDR: some of the spacebars are warped and the reverse dyesub process on the spacebar keys are not up to standard. also some people are unhappy with the gradient. there's also some smaller issues regarding discoloration/gradient on the sides of the larger keys (weird, because my kitty kat samples were completely fine), customers unhappy with the texture of the complete cap, flow marks, etc.

Was hoping the KAT issues were fleshed out enough before this set was made but such is the way of caps. Hope it’s just the space bars and no so much the other stuff (color etc.)

As much as I'd like to get my caps sooner I guess it also helps to have the chinese customers beta test our keycaps.

That key was supposed to be R4 color, but it was made with R5 color.

If you have an issue with your order please contact your vendor. I believe only a few orders from zFrontier have been distributed... the rest of us are waiting for our shipments still

Is it right that there should be two different colored 'Tab' keys in TKL kit if you intend? There is only one 'Tab' key in my TKL kit.

Actually, the color is off in that render but it should be that row and in the same color as the other keys in the row. It's meant for people to use one mods kit with 2 alphas kits and cover 2 boards that way. If you're missing a key I suggest to request a replacement from your vendor!

According to the Daily Clack Discord there was an issue with the spacebars and that this wont be shipping any time soon?

Just to let any of you aware that was as curious as I was. Anything I find I will try to keep this as up to date as possible. I'm currently waiting on a response from the Daily Clack discord in regards to the actual status and what they are hearing from the supplier.

Update from cannon keys email I got:

The KAT Eternal saga continues! Keyreative has let us know that manufacturing is complete on replacements. They need to be organized and shipped, and once we receive them, KAT Eternal will be our first priority to ship. We are hoping that these can go out this month.

US replacement caps have arrived and I hear orders are getting out! The other vendors are still waiting for their replacements since those will be going out with other KAT sets that they are expecting.

As for extras, some vendors will have some extras for sale after GB orders ship, some vendors have already sold their extras through pre-orders.

Just wanted to include a reminder for those receiving your caps.

If you ordered 60 - TKL you should be receiving 5 extra caps:
- extra tab
- 6.25u spacebars in both colors
- 7u spacebars in both colors

If you ordered 40s/Ortho you should be receiving 1 extra cap:
- 1u shift
edit: - also 6.25u spacebars in both colors

If you ordered a numpad, you should be 1 extra cap:
- "Pause" style key in R5 (lightest color)

All kits are being shipped. The listed kits in my last post have issues that required replacement caps.

Just got my set and the gradient isn't what I expected, to be honest. I remembered it being more of a purplish gray instead of a grayish purple.

The keys themselves look, feel, and sound great! This is my first KAT profile key set and I am a fan already.

In any case, it's only been an hour or so between installing the key set and doing stuff around the house and the colors have already grown on me. The mat matches excellently, too! Consider me a happy customer.

I just finished mounting mine. I really like the colors and I think the legends look great!
I'm wondering about the matte finish though. It seems... inconsistent? It's almost like the caps were washed in soapy water and then not rinsed. To make up a word, they're 'smeary'. (legends perfectly clear though) Is this the nature of the KAT matte finish?
This isn't a show stopper, but I'm wondering if everyone's sets came out the same way.

Just checked my set, it looks like they ended up using "Delete" instead of "Backspace" for R3, maybe because of the limited space. The renders for the GB showed "Backspace" though, so a heads-up would have been nice.

Yeah I just tried putting my set on, and the spacebars (both colours, 7u) do not return at all. They are very stiff and just stay depressed. They are also very difficult to get onto both sides of the stabilisers, unlike my GMK spacebar.

I suspected the post position was incorrect because I've been using a GMK set with no issues. I took both spacebars off and measured the post spacing.
From the inside of the cross between middle post and either side post, on GMK peaches and cream it is 56mm on both.

For both sides on KAT eternal it's 55mm. Exactly a mm shorter, so the outside posts are closer to the center by 1mm each side. Is this not an issue for anyone else? None of my spacebars work because of this..

EDIT: These are the original (bad) spacebars I think. I only have one set and most likely have not been shipped the correct replacement ones.

I tried mounting my 7u's. The original spacebars wouldn't even mount properly for me. The replacement ones mounted, but there was some noticeable sluggishness. The alpha-colored bar bound sometimes and returned pretty slowly. The accent bar was better, but still didn't feel right. I compared it with another KAT spacebar from my KAT blanks set, and it was a very noticeable difference.

To add insult to injury, the stabilizer wire popped out while I was trying to mount the original bars. Fixing that was fun.

Same issue with me. The spacebars don't return. According to ZF these were the replacement ones (received only 1 set of spacebars that were boxed when i picked up from their extra sale). Not sure if these were the older faulty ones.

But the French kit has an error, same E with accent is used on the 2 and the 7 keycaps which is wrong. It should be é and è. I hope this could be resolved.

This matches the kit image (below) and is thus not a manufacturer error. As such, I doubt Keyreative will be willing to provide replacements (though I hope I'm wrong).

I don't think that it is my role to review kit when group buy are handled by professional like mykeyboard.eu which already sold tons of ISO-FR in the past. ISO-FR is a European standard.

I paid almost 200 euros for a set with a mistake. If the factory cannot assume it then the seller should. I hope that mykeyboard.eu will do something about it or at least offer a full refund.

Did any of you get any advice on the replacement spacebar issue? ZF isn't replying to my queries.

I believe i should have gotten the replacement set (received only 1 set) since they can be mounted but having issues with the spacebars not returning. Currently the teal 7u one kinda works (tho still sluggish).

Love this set but a little disappointed with the spacebar issues.

Anyone else contact their vendors regarding any issues with key caps?

I initially contacted Cannon Keys late November regarding some scratched/scuffed keys. I followed up in the middle of December and they said they were waiting to hear back from Keyreative.

Since then, no updates.
