Peen Mount

Peen mount is a modified top mount with spacers in place of screws

In order to add durable threads into a 3d print, brass inserts need to be added into the case. While these are great in function, they can be quite difficult to install (an incorrect installation of just one insert requires the whole part to be reprinted). Using spacers in place of screws cuts the number of inserts used in one case from 14 to 6.

From my testing, I have found that peen mount feels and sounds exactly the same as top mount. While top mount is still a great mounting style, please do not purchase this keyboard expecting something different.

Designed for 3d Printing

The o60-1 was designed specifically for 3d printing.

In order to reduce the total time taken (and cost) to produce each unit, the boards are printed at a 0.32mm layer height. Everything along the Z axis is a multiple of 0.32 to ensure all parts are dimensionally accurate.

All visible or mating surfaces are parallel to the print bed to avoid stair stepping and uneven seams.

Pretty disappointing to see a board from Europe that doesn't have ISO support.

I have a few questions. What does the “kit” come with. Screws, hardware etc. Does the board come with a pcb? How much does the proto weigh, and finally how many units are planned to be avail?

The kit comes with the board, a plate, screws, and bumpons. An optional pcb is available. I'm planning on making around 20 units but that hasn't been decided.

Ty! The plate files are going to be available once the GB starts and I'm planning on releasing the files for the entire board after the GB is over

It's quite cool, i thought i wouldn't like the surface of the material, but the texture doesn't look that bad tbh. The sound is great as well. I know it's really early to ask, but have you already planned on doing any other layouts in the future?

I like the updated price, but it’s still hard to swallow as someone outside EU, especially since it’s a 3D printed board. Not to take away from the design, because it looks and sounds pretty good, but just comparing other boards in the price range it’s hard competition.

Really glad to use ISO support, more units and lower price. Hearing that you'll be open sourcing the board after GB is also really cool. Great work!

A major factor in the o60-1's price was the POM plate. While POM is my favorite material, it is quite difficult and inconsistent to laser cut.
In order to reach a more competitive price, an FR4 plate will be offered instead.
The kit will now cost €60.

A prototype plate has been ordered

Would be down for one or two units in wkl, how do I keep myself updated when and if the sale goes live?

Consider offering the extra tops as add-ons, one could swap wkl and hhkb maybe do some colour combos too.

The fr4 plates should be arriving tomorrow and (hopefully) the final prototype is being printed right now. If everything goes well, the GB will start around mid august.

The plates have arrived but after shipping and tax, the price isn't much less than a pom plate and the quality isn't great.
The board will go back to including a pom plate however, after talking to my local laser cutting supplier, I have gotten the price down and the kit will still cost €60.

Production units will use m3 screws instead of the m2 screws used in the prototypes.

Is there any chance the shipping to the US will be under that 30 euro price? Also, how much does the board weigh?

The board unbuilt weighs around 500g.
I'm not sure if I can get shipping prices lower for the US, not for now at least.

The design has been finalized but the GB will be delayed for early 2022.
The printer that was going to be used for production (heavily modified raptor 2+) is too unreliable and will be replaced with another printer (vcore 3).

I'd rather do things properly than run the GB prematurely.
