There is so much going on... what about just an addon kit without a base?  Just do the mod/fn keys that you want in colors with a simple legend color?  Then buyers could add that visual/functionality to any base set.

yeah, we wanna do that ,but there are much work to do .

It'd be pretty cool if there was a giant panda themed key set, that's not having to buy that whole varmilo keyboard. And I don't like the fonts used on it, either. I can bet someone can make a better version of it. I also don't know how well it would do, there's a handful of green/black/white kits already. At the very least, it'd be cool for a desk mat.

I want a keycap with a tiny bear trap on it. And not some wimpy spring in a plastic trap, I want it to hurt. Full steel construction with heavy leaf springs and pan mechanism.

Has anyone attempted to make a keycap set that's based on or draws inspiration from Firewatch? I think that'd be pretty slick. Oranges, yellows, and black.

I like both of these ideas.

The latter is probably easier to implement in plastic, considering there's also a very handsome Firewatch text editor theme: https://github.com/rakr/vim-two-firewatch.

Usually not a problem nowadays with vendors mostly doing all the work, I bet some experienced keyset-runner would help you out if you asked!

I’d love to do a DEC PDP themed set in doubleshot MT3, probably using PDP 11 colours.

https://www.vintagecomputer.net/digital/pdp11-40/PDP11-40_fontpanel.JPG

Beige on black alphas, mauve and pink modifiers and some novelties with the PDP logo. I think it’d work really well.

I've been into cars since I was a little kid and something I always enjoyed was exploring the vast array of decals that people could put on cars. Something I am looking for and having a hard time finding is blank Keysets with "decals" on them. Like a blank keyset with one image chiseled over the keys. Touch-typing doesn't require correct icons on the keys anymore once you get good enough. So I would like a keyboard that blanks out all the keys and has each one be apart of a mosaic of one larger image spread across the keys. You could have all the novelty keys done with smaller images especially the larger ones, then across the alpha-numeric keys you could have one large image.

Started working on my first set, GMK Renge, and wanted some thoughts on color palette before moving forward with figuring out novelties. The chosen scheme was inspired by the character Renge Miayuchi from a slice-of-life anime, Non Non Biyori.

Here's the reference image I was working with:

Here is a preliminary render of the base kit:

I'm just looking for feedback/additional ideas to help this keyset stand out, so anything would be much appreciated  :thumb:

So I was wondering if someone could come up with a cool keycap set concept for that is centered around one of my favorite anime characters Eijiro Kirishima. I really think it would be cool to have his red them and maybe his skin tone then some black from his outfit like across his face. Replies to me on here or email would be cool. No need to do it though I am sure I can come up with something eventually just wanted to ask for some help maybe and I found this place! Thank you in advance for any responses!241311-0

What do you guys think about a custom ****butt escape key?

Like, if I made it, would you guys buy it. I watched Linus's dye sublimation video and I bet I could throw a few of those bad lads on some blank Model M keycaps. The perfect thing to do that with, IMO, is ****butt.

I could hypothetically make other meme keys, but only if they're wildly immature.

I like the idea of a red and white keycap set a lot. I found a shade of red I like a lot: 161, 88, 88 in RGB. If it had katakana sub-legends that would be a bonus. The mods would be red and the alphas would be white. Thats basically my dream keycap set.

Hello All,

I'm new here so please send guidance my way. I've been wondering about keycap colors with meaning in the racing industry.

245081-0

The general concept, "Gulf Typing Team", is based on the classic Gulf Racing Team's color combination. Ideally, this gulf blue and gulf orange set would come with a novelty set including a palm, racecar silhouette, checkered flag, and others fitting the Gulf Oil or racing theme. I like this color contrast and the meaning behind it personally. But I wanted to gauge others that have experience before moving forward with a full render and interest check. Other colors and combinations would hopefully be offered as well.

245083-1

Additionally, I'm not sure how others produced all the images in their interest checks and still need to learn, all advice is welcome.

Thanks,

djpkbd

I would really appreciate getting feedback on these two designs.
I made them after one concept, which is two create functional, adaptable keycap set aimed at editors, compositors and motion graphic artists who need to (as it is often the case) work in several applications to create media.
That being said while functionality and adaptability is of high concern I kind of appreciate understated looks but with notable accents.
The first colorway started off as an inverted dolch, but then morphed as I warmed the modifiers into a beige grey color because cold grey was a tad too monotone on a set with dark alphas for my eyes - not enough distinction.
At first I did not think of making the alphas with cadet sub-legends but the 1.) cost of complete custom new molds are probably prohibitive 2.) cadets are clean and graphical and those symbols can be adapted to a multitude of common tasks over several apps 3.) I guess people like them? (hope that trend has not worn off yet lo)
The second colorway was way easier in my mind to put together and tame the custom colors because it is basically a modded honeywell - so you have to try to screw that up. I just try to tame the special function row colors by not making them too bright or saturated as not distract from the alphas and special characters on the alphas, just get overall balance. Of course "normal" colored function keys would be included in the kits so one can mix and mesh.
My first time designing a set so sorry for the few quirks (blender hates html entities and as I am doing this project in my spare time uv mapping the custom legend onto every keycap would take a bit too much time for me at this stage- so I just approximated symbols in the renders out of blender). So sublegends/custom symbols in the renders are funny - look at the original kle layout sheet for the intended ones. But it does give a nicer realistic impression of the the sets can look on actual boards, and I am assuming in somewhat dimmer light which would be a normal working environment.

Show Image

Note: the first blender render still had light grey alpha legends, I changed it to the same pink off-white as the special F9 key color in the final renders and is probably what I would do in the final design to consolidate the colors.
Show Image

The bellow images have the same color on alpha legends as the special F9 key.

Leaning GMK or DCS over DSA or SA, actually most certainly not gonna be SA.

Very thankful for your feedback and tips!

Ok... there is a ton going on but strangely, I like it. Good color pallets and sometimes some of the most beautiful vintage keyboards have a ton going on but that is part of their charm. You know what, I'm into it. With a few tweaks this could be pretty nice. There's certainly no keycap set like it.

I was very surprised searching forums, subreddits and google for a Gruvbox keycap set, and returning more or less nothing. The gruvbox theme https://github.com/morhetz/gruvbox is very popular in the Linux, Vim and /r/unixporn communities. I use it for everything and was hoping to get a really nice set of keycaps.
I want the exact colorscheme, and i guess i have to do a interest check to get this thing going.
Anyone here familiar with gruvbox? :)

i've had this idea for a while, I and would love some community feedback! i'm currently in the process of deciding on a profile and looking for manufacturing options and help to hopefully create a group buy for what is essentially a WoB modifier kit that features icons by FontAwesome as well as a "planchette" key i made.

when i first messed around with the idea
