Chopstix Holds Benchmarked
« on: Sun, 30 August 2020, 18:07:56 »
So, dem'Asians are pretty sn00ty and have these chopsticks rules.

But what about PERFORMANCE.....

In the following photos:

P1, The traditional method, they teach kids this,
Grip power ~250-350g

P2, This is a common modified method of P1 that many MEN discover on their own, yet does not violate the superstition <Never cross chopsticks rule>.
Grip power ~500-800g

P3,  This is the Taboo cross, never do this or be banished from the family
-Official TP4 Method-, Grip power ~1500-2000g
-though seldom necessary, cross method can also engage much larger objects, not just heavier.

As far as I know, the left hand is symmetrical to the right, you'll have to double check though, I'm not too sure about this claim.

I was more concerned about possible etiquette issues :)

Left handed isn't taboo in modern times.

If you really wanna stick it to um'  Use exclusively the Tp4 Method, Cross the chopsticks when laying them down, Or stick them straight up like incense in your bowl.

I mostly use chopstix for sushi, and I tend to use the P2 grip.

If I get Thai food, typically pad see u, I will use P1 on the noodles and P2 on the meats.

In the civilized world we don’t use wooden sticks to eat, we use silverware.

the best use for chopstick is backup "silverware" when you are on the move and forgot to pack up a fork :) very useful, 2nd best use is for cooking, it can replace pretty much any utensils if you are lazy enough about cleaning :). although i use none of the tp4 recommended grip, as i never actually learned and only self taught how to use them... at least i do not cross them you heretic :)

What about a modified P2 w/ occasional P3 cross method for when needed (sometimes more force is needed and necessary).

Isn’t that kinda racist? China was already quite civilized long before Germany even existed...

Only people who push for silverware are those that do not contain the power to use the almighty chop-sticks.
