Hi,

the plate is just a random plate I had sandblasted and pvd-ed. I am actually trying to show what sandblasted PVD brass looks like.

The PCB is not in contact with any of the standoffs. There's enough room for flex.

can the PCB be used with QMK.

I've seen people talka about porting bootmapper to qmk but wasnt sure if thats on a board by board basis or universal

The traditional tray has the plate/pcb assembly screwed directly to the case. The pcb is in contact with the housing unlike the top or sandwich mounted boards.
In the Unikorn, the pcb is not longer rests on or comes in contact with the case. The plate/pcb assembly is being supported by the rubber gasket similar to how a sandwich board structure works.

Alright, that makes sense, but then why is this case called a tray mount case? What are those mounting holes used for? Are they just used to basically tighten the gasket but the PCB will still float above the highest point of the mounting points?

This is a really interesting design, as most gasket mounts I've seen utilizes top mount, which is why I have a load of questions that I wanna ask

Not that it is important, but the plate will not have switch top opening as written in the OP.

I love the design. I'm telling you guys, if you're interested in gasket mounts and are poor, just put some craft foam on your tray mount standoffs and then screw it down. You can even try something harder, but the foam is a great absorber. The only negative is that it slightly raises your keys up so the profile doesn't look as nice sometimes

Any samples for the other colours? Really hoping that dark blue is a dark-grey-blue (although if slightly lighter, I could definitely be on board with something similar to the Hineybush 1800 prototype.)

With the split spacebar layout, what do people typically map the small key and the other half spacebar to?

Would like to know an approximate timeline as well so I can start earmarking funds haha, way too many awesome keyboard things atm.

Hopefully we have a decent chance on getting in for this one!

Yuktsi, I've noticed you're a fan of raw sandblasted brass (correct me if I'm wrong). I also love raw sandblasted brass weights. Would it be possible for me to get a raw sandblasted weight instead of pvd coated? If so, consider me on board for this buy!
