Some old and a few new keyboard layouts sport 1U modifiers, while contemporary trend is towards 1.25U mods. The first come along 1.5U mods as well. Have you had the chance to try both layout styles? How do they compare them, in your own experience?

I am using one board that sports 1.5U and 1U mods, while I use other with 1.25U mods. My overall feeling right one, gravitates towards 1.25U mods. they are easy to type on by touch and feel far better. The keyboard with 1U mods is good, but does not feel as ergonomic as the board with standard size mods.

I prefer 1.25 mods. I'm usually typing that row with my pinkie or thumb. I like having the 1.25u space.
I'm back.

Actually, the classic winkey-less Cherry  keyboards that sports 1.5U mods do not have any 1u mod, but the 1800 Series. It may mean that the occasional use of 1U mods was due to layout compromises, more to design decisions. I wonder how the HHKB layout users may report on the 1U mods on their boards.

I prefer 1.5u. I woudn't mind have a 1.75u.
To me, 1.25u is ok and 1u is despicable.
