Is top half Alu and bottom half PC a possible request?  :D

It was possible but I believe Oldcat took the option away. Its untested and PC and alu expand / shrink differently and could cause problems. Needs lengthy testing to see if its ok to do which I also believe he said he was going to do for like 6 months or something and if all goes well it might be a thing in the future.

did i miss this announcement?

Hey I think Google may have got it wrong or something. I am not very good with timezone, only aware that AZ time zone never changes. MST is 6:56PM right now?

im in the west cost and it says MST was an hour later than we currently our. so it was posted at 7:50 MST according to the google (6:50 PST)

If you're PDT (daylight savings) then it's the same as MST. PST (standard) is one hour behind MST. I had to figure it out too.

We will provide the hotswap SIP sockets and LEDs. You will need to solder that 6 hotswap sockets, then just insert the 3 LEDs in (and out and change freely)!

All instructions will be provided.

sorry for the dumb question if it is (kinda new to this): what stabilizers should I get for this PCB/which ones do people recommend? I know that the GMK screw-in stabs are good in general, but can I get those for this PCB? thanks in advance!

Yes, GMK screw-in PCB mount stabs are good. If you are in US, consider buying from Novelkeys!

Any chance you'll release a sound test video for the PC prototype? Would love to have a demonstration.

Yes the build stream is still on schedule to be live before the GB starts. I will share a link when it is available.

I have a question of detail before the GB opens up.

I noticed on renders and samples of the top case for the badge case vs non badged case there is a little divot or cut out that runs along the right side of the case and is non existent on the left side of the case.

I plan on getting the non badged case as that is my layout preference, but based on samples and renders it seems that the right side divot or cut out is not present (I prefer the right side of the case to be a straight edge as it looks more uniform to the left side of the case).

Is the cut out/right side straight on the non badged layout? If so YAY!

That cutout around enter key is huge.   Does it not affect switch stability (enter and pipe) ?
I want to use ANSI Enter with "compatible" plate because of split backspace.

No chance of having the sip sockets soldered at the manufacturing level? Opting for the hotswap pcb (for solderless build) and having to solder 6 sockets kind of defeats the purpose.

2 of the PC Prototypes will be shipped to me tomorrow or Wednesday. And potter will do a build stream and some typing tests on  Sunday.

Is the black opaque after polishing/blasting?  I kind of like the transparent clear :)
I'm sure we'll get examples of all before having to decide and pull the trigger.

Right we will take some high resolution pictures before GB starts. From what I can see it is not translucent. I will see for sure when I get them.

wonder if something like the KBD67 hotswap pcb would fit into this case.  Split backspace hotswap is what I would most prefer. Sorry if it's been mentioned, but does this have a left side usb port?

I think from the pcb renders on the first page it looks like a middle usb port.

Is it too early to ask for the shipping method/shipping company that you will be using?

I suppose this will be manufactured in China so I'm wondering if it is possible to use DHL Express Worldwide so that delivery will be straight to my door/house instead of picking it up from the local post and end-up paying more for the customs duties in my country.  :(

Split backspace, hotswap, with badge would be nice. I’ll solder if I have to, but wouldn’t mind the time savings.

It's possible but I believe DHL Express is more expensive for you in terms of shipping (I could be wrong). SF is so far cheapest I believe. If in some countries DHL is cheaper yet provides a better service we can certainly consider that.

This is looking great!

A few questions:
  • Did you decide on white-yellow PCB based on the votes in the survey? This option might have gotten the most votes simply because it's the first option and you can't skip that question if you don't have a preference.
  • I am unsure if I'd rather have a PC or alu board. What would you recommend? Pros and cons?
  • Will the alu version have the 4.5mm, perfectly-cut PC Plate? If not, then I guess I'll prefer a PC board for the sound properties as you've mentioned, even though I've never typed on an alu board.
  • Will the Wavez keycaps only be available with the dark green alu board, or can we mix board colors and keycap options as we will? I think I'd rather have a black alu or frosted PC board with the Wavez keys.
  • What switches will be available to choose from?
  • How difficult would it be to modify the PCB to support Bluetooth, if it's even possible? I might get two boards if this is doable. I've never soldered before, but I believe I could get it done with instructions at least.

Sorry if any of the questions have already been answered.
Thanks!

Sincerely,
A noob.

GMK Wavez keycaps are currently live here: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=100063.0  They are not part of this GB

Switches will be purchased separately, not part of the GB; buy what you want to install onto it ;-)

Best bet for "modifying" it to use bluetooth would be something like this: http://handheldsci.com/kb/  Though I believe I remember oldcat saying a BT PCB may be an option in the future; I think I remember reading that.
