Not having a FILCO keyboard, I didn't look at this thread... but I am surprised at the good taste shown here! A light gray for the printable character keys - and the letters of the alphabet are in a large size, and centered!

I thought my keyboard color scheme tastes were weird and not shared by many here, but apparently I was wrong, at least in part.

I'm so excited!  It's also  really cool that the total turn-around time on this project has been less than a month and a half.

WhiteRice - do the doubleshot keys make your Filco sound any different when you type on it?

I haven't noticed an audible difference. However when I first put them on it felt like the key throw was shorter. After a day or two it doesn't feel any different.

I find myself running my fingers across the keys because I enjoy the texture.

Maybe it's because they're new but in the right light the key seem to sparkle a bit, almost like gun metal.

I look forward to ripster posting photos. His photos always look professional.

I went to http://www.deckkeyboards.com/ and saw the bottom row looking different from a Filco's, so I assume "No."

I doubt it. It was said much earlier these Signature Plastic keycaps are abs :X

Their web site says they can make PBT or ABS, though I don't know if there are cost differences or anything. What are the relative merits of one over the other?

put abs into a pot of hot water. It will melt faster than PBT.

abs turns yellow faster than pbt. Abs shines faster than pbt (not sure if pbt will shine, but it won't as fast as abs anyway). Pbt should be kept out of the sun.

PBT and PET need UV protection if used outdoors, and most grades of these polyesters are flammable, although additives can be used to improve both UV and flammability properties.

It's package tracker. Nice site. You can forward tracking emails to them and they show up in your account page.

And they'll email you when it starts moving (if it's just "information received"), when it's out for delivery, when it's delivered, and when there's an exception.

And text message (or SMS if you're pedantic), and Twitter. All you have to do is register an account.

Example email:

Is it supposed to work for international packages as well?
With my tracking # it just says the info is unavailable, even though I can see it fine on the USPS site.

If you're both internatiaonal that may be the cause of it not working. If you switch from Auto-Detect to US Postal Service (4th option on drop down), does it work?

In either case I'd email the PackageTrackr guys. They're pretty responsive to emails.

International Priority Mail #s may be in a slightly or completely different format, which I suspect may be the cause.

SigPla vs. Cherry vs. Ducky

Profile:

Thickness:

Legend:

I did this to demonstrate something I was thinking about.

I believe that Signature Plastics(SigPla) originally did all their tooling for cherry keyboards. As you know Cherry is a large provider of POS keyboards, and most often you see special key caps on registers.

Ripster, the profile of these caps should feel similar to the ones on your anti-otaku filco. I'm sure you will let us know when you get them.

Took me longer than expected. Those little white stabilizer nubs kept trolling me.

Overall, very impressed, like the key texture. The MX blues clicking was slightly more dampened on the Rosewill keys vs. the signature keys; my guess is because they seem to be ever so slightly thinner. Very happy! :D

Yay! Got them in and have them in.  They look and feel great!  Though I wish I would've realized that the stabilizers are not symmetrical a little sooner...

Does anyone have a spare "Control" key for the "Capslock" position?  I need an extra.  I'd pay for shipping plus a few bucks extra for your trouble.

THIS IS WHAT TORTURED ME. It took me so long to figure this out.

Note the original orientation of the stabilizers on whatever keycaps you swap out and you'll be fine.

I simply refuse to buy keyboards with Fn | CTRL layout. That has ruled out lots of keyboards and laptops so far. :)

That being said, I'd better offer my used and thoroughly cleaned blasphemous ML4400 cheap to somebody who wants to get into mechanical, or is just collecting.

here's some modified keys.
*note*
i have to keep some of my older cherry caps cuz i customized them to fit my board since i have a slope up towards the middle(meaning the keys you see that aren't changed are meeting at a slope)

I got one with the nostromo as well, i decided to use the cursor only for the different texture so i can "feel" my home row, it's nice. (keeping the 5 in there cuz it has the bump)

overall i like it, of course my keyboard is a special case and i'm preparing my V2 to account for this as well heh.
