[GB] Mech27-TKLv2 | Made in Canada | REFUNDING
« on: Mon, 06 November 2017, 16:41:49 »
REFUNDS ARE BEING ISSUED
PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL

Mech27-TKLv2
Canadian Made

The Mech27-TKLv2 is my second design, and I've cut no corners with this production run.  Custom printed packaging, foam, local machining (I live 10 minutes from the shop!), and alignment pins built right into the case.

What's in the Mech27-TKLv2 Kit?
  • 6061 Aluminum Case available in Alloy Silver, Meteorite Black, Navy Blue, and Classic Red.
  • 210 Brushed Brass plate supporting split left and right shift, split backspace, and ansi/iso enters.
  • Genuine Cherry PCB-mount stabilizers.
  • TX87 PCB with JiGon mapper/firmware.
  • Screws and bumpons.

How much will it cost?

$399.99 USD + Shipping.  It will be insured for, and declared at full value.  Shipping will be calculated at checkout but estimates are provided below.

How many will be made, and how can I get one?

With a MOQ of 50 units and a hard limit of 50 units, they will be sold via raffle entered below.  Winners will be provided a one-time use coupon code to be used during checkout at Mech27.com via email. Colour will be chosen at checkout.

Couple questions, do you have any colour samples, when does the raffle end, and if we're Canadian is there an option to pay in CAD?

FYI if I am not mistaken, there should be no import duties/charges/vat/whatever for EU buyers due to the free-trade-agreement between EU and Canada that went into effect last September

As of 21 September CETA removes duties on 98% of products (tariff lines) that the EU trades with Canada.

It's a smooth sandblasted finish, so it has a nice matte look and feel.

Assembled, with caps, switches, and all the bells and whistles is 2.4kg (this is with an aluminum plate).

The v1 was just over 3kg assembled with caps and switches.

Those outside of NA shipping rates are ridiculous. Might want to look into getting more favourable rates if you'd like for people outside of NA to even consider one of these.

I was mostly interested in how the USB port cutout looked like on the V2. Does it have the same design as on the V1?

I was able to see the Mech27 v1 at the LA meet up back this summer.  Solid tank construction, I have no doubt this is going to be another amazing board when its made.  Good luck on v2 but I seriously doubt you'll need it.  Those lucky enough to win this raffle, please post pics of your builds when it finally gets in your hands.

I've gotten things shipped with CA post expresspost service that are of a similar size to the box that weighs slightly less (net was 3.5kg) for $85usd, to Australia, in 3 days. ymmv.

Those outside of NA shipping rates are ridiculous. Might want to look into getting more favourable rates if you'd like for people outside of NA to even consider one of these.

I helped him look into this. The next cheapest option was about 25% more expensive.

I've gotten things shipped with CA post expresspost service that are of a similar size to the box that weighs slightly less (net was 3.5kg) for $85usd, to Australia, in 3 days. ymmv.

FYI if I am not mistaken, there should be no import duties/charges/vat/whatever for EU buyers due to the free-trade-agreement between EU and Canada that went into effect last September

Quote
As of 21 September CETA removes duties on 98% of products (tariff lines) that the EU trades with Canada.

http://ec.europa.eu/trade/policy/in-focus/ceta/

I wonder if this applies to keycap sets as well?

Definitely applies for switches, LEDs, sip sockets, etc. Orders from zeal never went through customs.

WoW! Wowww! Zeal!!! You never mentioned it!? It is An incredinle advantage!

What Zeal though does is already collecting 3,9% VAT.

Not sure if this is a Canadian tax cause German MwSt. is actually 19%

His shipping is also extremely nice. 35$ for DHL Express which takes only 2 business days to Germany.

No update on DHL, but they've marked my account request as urgent so I should hear back soon.

Also, we're already up to 95 entries!  Best of luck to everyone who has and will enter.

2-3 months to account for shipping of PCBs, and manufacture and shipment of the packaging.

WKL only?

WKL only. Need to keep it simple for a small MOQ like this.

The 3.9% should be the PP fees. The descriptions for GB items mention this.

In for the maple leaf and aligment pins  :thumb:

Edit: How smooth is the surface finish on that silver prototype?

It's a smooth sandblasted finish, so it has a nice matte look and feel.

Thanks, I hope to be able to run my fingers along its case.
Any pics of the backside of the board?

Unfortunately I only have the picture of the back with the leaf in the OP.

I was mostly interested in how the USB port cutout looked like on the V2. Does it have the same design as on the V1?

Oh you mean the usb side.  It's the same as the v1 cutout yeah.

Thanks, the V1 GB thread or Google must have some pictures of that.

Would I be correct in saying that the silver for the second round is slightly darker than the silver in the first round? It looks closer to a gray-ish color in the assembled pics, looks real nice. Either way, I like the matte finish way more.
