When I started my IT career in the late '80s I used a Model M daily. I wish I would have stocked up on some then. Anyway, after typing on a black widow at best buy, I knew I wanted to make the switch (Public service announcement here: When newb's tell you they bought a Razer Black Widow. Try to retrain from making fun. I bet they know it's a low end keyboard. It might be all they can afford at the moment. I bet, with encouragement and not petty elitism, that very same newb might just one day have the skills you do to obtain [insert the hot mechanical keyboard of the moment here]. Hell he might just become a vibrant part of the mech board community. Just sayin. /END public service announcement) After perusing the classifieds in search for a Model M, i was pretty much resigned to having to spend 80-100 for a Model M . Then I came across Treigle’s post. Someone backed out of a sale and all of a sudden, I have myself a Model M for $26 shipped. And this isn't a clunker, VERY clean beautiful board. The next day I see this thread. I have no clue what a big deal it could be. At the time i think there were only three replies. So I casually head over to SP and order 1 bag of black on white and 1 bag of mixed colors. Head out to go run for the evening and get back and see all the activity in the thread and I start to realize what a big deal it is. Figured no way a get lucky again is there? Well I got both bags I ordered. Tonight I buy the lottery tickets. When they announce my winning #'s Go ahead and PM me your dream keyboard. I’ll even pay shipping.
Anyway, my first thought was "oh man, I can probably sell these for profit" But that doesn't seem right. If rang hadn't posted that I wouldn’t even have had the opportunity. As a thank you ,when i get my bags I want Rangarock to look at what I received and grab any he needs or wants and also give me a good idea of what I have and need to hang on to. To be honest, I probaly wont know what I have thats "rare" or whatever. After he's had a chance to go through them, i would like Triegle to see if there is anything he wants, then I’ll post what I have publicly and see if I can help fill some sets out there.
