Same thing as since the beginning. We want it dark as can be while still light enough you can see legends dyesubbed. It's a thin line and pretty demanding really. It's a fairly demanding request, and they are making an effort.

Fair anough mate, I'm still along for the ride! Not like we have any other options for blank/cherry pbt caps.
It's a good width!  If it's half-width it's too narrow, and full-width is too wide.

Indeed, super excited to hear that progress is being made, even if it means extending the production process even longer. It's good to know that sufficient quality control is in place so that at the end of a long process the result should be worth the wait.

What about leopold and vortex? They've both run blank black PBT in cherry profile lately.

for clarification: I have three sets in this buy, just letting other people know there are options.

I was under the impression that those were close to Cherry profile but not quite the same, might have to give them a look.

The black Leopold sets don't come in blank, only side-print. I would have bought a set in a nanosecond if they came in blank black.

The Vortex sets seem to be of mediocre quality. I've seen at least a couple people complaining about seeing the cruciform molding being visible on the top of the key as well as unsightly sprue marks.

Help us, Ivan, you're our only hope!   :))

Ah my bad, I thought the leo ones came in blank too.
I was aware Vortex was of lesser quality, but we don't even know how these caps are gonna be.  :p
I decided to hang out and see what we get anyway, seems fun.

Apparently there is more problem with the PBT material color. It came out too dark and can't be dyesub on.

um...

i will take it and pay the extra shipping costs.  i wanted as dark as possible anyways.

Man that sucks. If it helps I'm happy to go ahead still, I was always under the impression that the sublimation would be very 'under the radar'.

Yeah I would probably buy the extra dark ones :p

zzz

I would want them darker too.
I wanted an invisible text from the beginning.

edit: because I'm not just saying this for faster keys.
I would actually PREFER the darker black.

I suppose there's no chance at buying the 'failures' at a reduced cost ? Plenty of folks here would be satisfied and if there was a discount for their learning experience, you could extend the buy to new, different folks.

Hello guys, this isn't my first gb but it is my most anticipated one
just wondering what is the exact situation we are in? Since the caps came out too dark, are they going to do another production run? I am patiently waiting for my grail of caps but the wait would be easier knowing how much longer. I know there is no exact date but should we expect these before the new year?

Glad to see you come out of hiding!
Gbs are quite exciting and I've been anticipating this one too.
Unfortunately, I wouldn't expect them before the new year, no.
The caps WILL be made, so I assume they're just trying again.
And we will get them soontm.

I would absolutely pick up a set of "rejects" for being too dark.

I just don't get how the prototype could be 'fine' then they go to produce that same thing again and all of a sudden it's 'too dark', what happened there?

Hell i'd probably take the darker caps. I'm just hoping whatever colour they turn out they look good on a G80-3000 chassis.

Any idea how they will compare? (Lighter/darker?)

The prototype was the first plastic which was a good color, but turned out too soft.

What they then produced was a different 'better' plastic, but turned out too dark apparently.

Apparently nobody at plum has a camera phone because to date we've seen zero photographs of these keycaps.

The technology to take pictures just doesn't exist in China i guess.

The "(production)" status in the title of most group buys usually indicates that it's closed for orders and awaiting shipment from the manufacturer.

But if someone is looking to give up their order, you're welcome to take it over. Post what you're hoping for and take a look back through the most recent few pages to see if anyone is.

It wont fit the spacebar, ctrl keys, win keys and meta keys. The only 1.25 mods on the K70 are the alt keys.
