Really cool project!

So with the acrylic bottom - are there LEDs on the bottom of the PCB I assume? I didn't see them in the photos.

If I had more disposable income, I would definitely be joining this group buy.

Fantastic design... both key layout and overall aesthetics of the case are outstanding.

I should probably finish this Ergodox at some point and give it a try :P

The way they figured out wireless is amazing, using a receiver is much better than Bluetooth, makes it compatible with KVM easier and I use 2-3 computers at the same desk. I wish there was a lower cost solution utilizing this implementation.

I want to join this but given it's a "traditional" group buy instead one through a trusted vendor there is only so much money I am willing to place faith in that kind of group buy, $350-400 is well over that.

I hope these end up in the wild though! good luck.

Don't think I'm going to have the funds for this, sadly. This is amazing though and I really hope there's an R2.

Hey, thanks for the support! The acrylic bottom is used to reduce the wireless signal interference, actually not for underglow :)

Thanks for the kind words! Totally understand.

We could go through zfrontier or other vendors but the prices will be at least 10-15% higher. This kit is very costly to make and our plan is to grow the Alf branded GBs with minimal frictions so buyers get lower possible pricing. Hopefully when DC60, Doro67 and many other GB participants receive their keyboards you will be more comfortable!

So i assume the programming part works similar to hasu's usb to usb converter? Is there a qmk fork link available yet or is this something you are working on right now?
If qmk support works smoothly, this might be the qmk + wireless combo i was looking for a while now.

This really is a great idea, I hadn't considered using a usb2usb adapter like this. It's great for desktop users, but the large dongle is a bit of a killer for many laptop users I imagine. If I didn't have too many projects already I'd love to play around with something similar, I really hope to see someone offer a more midrange board with a simpler acryllic / polycarb / plastic case.

Yeah for a laptop, the big dongle is a bit much, I don't think these are something to travel with though, at least from my perspective.

Yeah aside from the dongle I think these will be too large for traveling. I think it makes better sense to travel with a very light board (e.g., whitefox), or some 40 or 50 percent keyboards.

Wish I saw this in the IC phase. It would be a for sure buy for me if it had one more key on the bottom row for lower/raise like this:

Yes, initially it was 1.25u design, Sirius incorporated the 3X1u design given many people requested it and made an additional prototype. Sorry to hear it does not fit your needs

those battery holders are a bit confusing. They look like they're on the side the switches go into. are we gonna have to take out all the switches to change the batteries? or are they accessible from the bottom of the pcbs?

You will be able to remove/replace battery from under. Just need to open the bottom cover. No need to take out switches

That will look great! I am deciding between gray and white right now. I don't have dsa drifter but it looks good on all the white keyboards I have seen it on. Which SUK artisans will you be pairing it with. Did you get any of the mall ninjas to match as well?

Pearl White looks as if it has that nice spaceship white. Like the 2001 or Alien spaceship interiors color. Confirm? :D

Man, I had the same struggle. I think Drifter is a really nice looking set on ortho/ergo/40% boards, but I worry the white hue will be off enough compared to Drifter to make it less matching. Did you happen to see Drifter on a white board in person?

Pairing it with a SUK Superpower Patriarch and Keybuto II. The Superpower colorway is insanely well matched with Drifter! Didn't get any of the mall ninjas, although I was tempted. I think it'll look cleaner though with just two dedicated artisans, one on each half; Patriarch half - Keybuto half. Are you getting some special caps for your build?

Hey, not sure how I would put it, if you use pure white as a reference, the pearl white is a little bit warmer than pure white; and it has a creamy, milky feeling to the finish.
I have taken some shots of the Pearl White with the dev/tty MT3, not sure if you have seen them.

Ah, so a bit warmer than the white of pure white keycaps. Couldn't find the pics. Could you post a link? How do you feel keysets with a white base color looks on Pearl White?

I hope keeping the emails in a public spreadsheet was just a mistake. Please fix that immediately.

Edit: typo

That column has been deleted.

Thanks!

Where do you get Logitech K230 insides? Disassemble new keyboards? Those keyboards cost $17 on Amazon. Are they cheaper in bulks?

Short answer, no.

I've been following the on the discord server and there hasn't been any activity regarding shipping. The same batch of 7 has been marked as "preparing to ship this round" for months on the Google Sheet.

Since the original GB posted Estimated Ship Date is clearly being missed at the current rate shipments, I messaged a couple times on the discord trying to get a new ETA on the orders to no avail. The only reason I'm on this forum right now is because I thought maybe I'd find more updated information here :/

Hello, we would like to provide an update for UniGo66. Some will be shipping soon, and some need to wait a bit longer.
1. 1.25u pearl white will ship soon.
2. Due to lack of enough workers during CNY, Sirius' own QC finds that anodization on some boards is not perfect, he has rejected those items and sent them back for re-work
3. Due to an error in communication, a few gray and black ones were made red and blue. Now, if your item has not been shipped, you can change the color to any of the follows: black, gray, blue, red, pearl white (additional fees if switching from regular colors to pearl white).
4. During the factory re-work, we will open the GB form for a few days.
5. To apologize for the delay, Sirius will include a free 4XRGB (designed and made by Scott Wei) and a free Switch Tester Sirius made, for all those who have not received shipment yet.

213789-0

The red one is a mistake (unless someone would like this color we will redo it.)

Thanks for the update. While the QC and miscommunication issues are disappointing, it's understandable around CNY. As long as communication is consistent to GB participants I'm happy.

I am not exactly sure but there is a chance Sirius may sell extras, they will likely be delivered later, after all the ones in the current GB are shipped.

I have talked to Sirius, he currently has no plan of doing UniGo66 R2, there has been some delays and he is trying to fulfill all the orders before starting the Uni660 (in GH IC stage).

Maybe you can talk to him in discord and convince him to do another round! Check with him if he has extras (I doubt it but you never know).

Doesn't even seem like they have produced any of the 1u versions if that's what you're asking about. The (Shipping in process) tag in the title is extremely misleading because the only ones that have been produced and/or shipped are the 1.25u versions. The GB description really didn't make it clear how much more work the 1u version needed (much less the extremely different timeline between the two versions). I'm writing this one off as a lost cause for now because no updates have been posted here, and I don't feel like digging through a Discord chat with people pushing the updates up the chain asking about the wrist rests or if this will be run again.

Same here. Really happy with the build quality, but there could be better instructions on the usability and software side of things. I'm following the email sent out just before I received mine. Here's the text in that:

Hi everyone:
Your UniGo66 are on the way. Unfortunately, I forgot to pair some of your boards with the unifying receiver so the board may not work once you receive it. You can pair with the following steps:
1.     Install the logitech unifying app.
2.     Plug one of the unifying receiver directly into the usb port of your pc.
3.     Open the app and follow the pairing guide. Turn on one of your boards(left or right) and pair it with the receiver.
4.     Plug in the other one of the unifying receiver and pair it with the other hand of the board.
5.     Plug both the receiver into the U2U dongle and plug the dongle into the usb port of your pc.
6.     Enjoy your board.

I'm stuck on steps 2/3. One of the unifying receivers I got isn't recognized by my computer and when I go through the pairing process with the one that does work, neither of the boards will pair. I'm totally guessing which side is "on" and "off" for the power switches on the boards, but I've tried it in all combinations I could think of. Maybe the batteries have run out? I don't know if there are any indicator lights to show that the board is powered on, so it's kind of difficult to know how to troubleshoot from here.

Please let me know if you got yours going, or any tips from anybody else!

Yup pretty much exactly describes my experience. At least we know the receivers work with the software, it definitely recognizes when its plugged in and it appears to be permanently seeking each hand.

I think it's worth opening up and checking if the batteries are dead. I forget the exact kind of batteries it takes and I haven't had the time with work lately but it was definitely my initial plan. Let me know if you try this out to any luck!

Mine finally came in today, but mad struggling with how to program it properly. Im basically stuck at the step to turn on the darn thing so that the receivers recognize it

I got mine opened up and surprise; no batteries... I found some documentation for these things pinned on the Alf discord server on the unigo 66 channel that really helps explain things though. The batteries are CR 2032 ones, so once I get some in from Amazon, I'll continue through the process of pairing the boards with the receivers.

Would love to see that documentation if possible! I remember trying an old expired link to said discord channel and couldn't come across anything unless you'd be willing to provide that

Anybody know how to flash this thing? (Again, no documentation included. Build-quality is _amazing_, but Alf or Sirius should probably hire someone to write a small website or something for their next product – hunting through Chinese "docx" files that won't even open on my Mac for basic instructions on how to even turn on my $400 keyboard is, uh, less-than-ideal.)

I attached the english documentation (.docx file) two comments above this one...

Unfortunately, I think that's the best you're going to get as far as documentation, but Sirius has been very easy to contact via Discord/email for me, so if you have specific questions, try hitting him up (nicely, I would suggest).

Re: [GB] UniGo66 -- U2UHub screw
« Reply #110 on: Thu, 10 June 2021, 18:48:58 »
I ended up replacing the USB jack on my U2UHub PCB after the original bent complet-ely off, and the replacement seems stronger on account of using the little post holes in the PCB and having no gap between end of PCB and end of USB plug. It connects and identifies as Unigo66 very easily now, however I managed to lose the little screw that holds the PCB onto the aluminum block.

Can anyone help me figure out what size this screw is supposed to be?

Where on discord would I find Sirius to ask if no one else knows?

edit: turns out m.2 drive screws work just fine. I had to replace the batteries too, but the whole board works great now!

Oldcat, Sirius, just wondering, how did you manage to use Unified firmware on a custom PCB long before it was reversed or dumped? Did you just resolder the nRF24LE1 chips from Logitech K230 to Unigo66 PCB?
