Keycap Stem Adapter?
« on: Sun, 20 October 2019, 15:30:15 »
I am currently thinking about transforming a MS Natural Ergonomic keyboard to a full mechanical keyboard.

I want to keep the original keycaps, but they have not the right stem.

You can see them here

Is there something like a fitting "stem adapter"?

Not for rubber dome keycaps to MX there isn't. Although I'm sure someone experienced with CAD & 3D printers could whip something up. On the other hand, I bet a 3D printed adapter would make the keycaps sit super high off the switches. Since the keycap is also the stem that pushes the rubber dome down onto the membrane & MX caps sit on top of the stem of the switch.

Get cheap key-caps cut the sides grind the top of the key-caps and then grind the stem away of your original key-caps and paste the grinded key cap on the bottom of the original key caps. I saw some people do that with the AEK F1-F13 keys.
