Shiny white cherry DS?
« on: Sat, 08 December 2012, 10:39:58 »
Hi all!

I was wondering where to find these glossy double shot cherry keycaps? They feel so silky and weighted. Does any company make these keycaps?

Cheers,
Grey

It took dedicated secretaries many years of typing toil to produce keycaps with that wonderful ABS shine!

Awesome...so it is because of the type of plastic that is used? My mind cannot get around this as being true though  :-X  ahh the joys of being a n00b...

Yep, if you type on keys made from ABS plastic long enough, they lose their texture and become porcelain smooth.

nice  :) ..suppose I now need to google for some now!

I seems that the current set I have is all german...so i've got normal ABS keycaps in the place of where german keys are

Btw how long does it take for the roughness to snare away? Or is there an way to artifically speed up the "ageing" process of the keys?

Or if you want to hurry things along - or make less used keys the uniform shiny or the more used keys - then you can use some emery paper/wet and dry to polish them... just don't do this with anything rare or the gods of vintage Cherry keycaps will smite you  :p

You can also shine them yourself with sandpaper if they aren't shiny enough already.
