Quickfire Rapid Stealth?
« on: Tue, 12 February 2013, 05:12:48 »
Straight to my question! I will be buying my first mechanical keyboard soon, some might not know the answer to this but, is there any release date expectations for CM Quickfire Rapid Stealth edition with Cherry Red switches?

Thanks :)

I wanna say mid-March... please don't hold me to this - anything can happen when things are being shipped from across the globe.

Oh ok :) And the last question, will it be more, than the current Rapid with Cherry mx red switches? Or less? Cause I really can't wait to get my first mechanical keyboard which will probably be a Rapid Stealth or a TK :))

Thanks very much for your answers, I know it's not easy to answer questions, knowing what you can say and what you can't about the upcoming products.

Any changes to the keyboard? Something new/replaced things? Comparing to the CES version.

Could we get some sneak peaks? :p

Yep..we plan on getting the backlit XT (aka XTS) going as soon as we can.  Lots of ideas, but we just gotta be patient ><

Also, here are the stealth photos you asked for:

This is true, and is (also) the exact behaviour the QFR exhibits. For this reason, I suspect they'll be priced similarly, but we'll see.

Ofcourse, capslock, scroll-lock are usually "off". Winkeylock is up to the user. I only have it active when I'm in a game that doesn't play nice (like Deus Ex 1). As a result, my QFR is almost always completely unlit.

The company representative over at OCN said that the keyboard was coming mid-march, pricing will be similar to that of the Quickfire rapid.

Will the backlit will be on the side of the keys? So the side printed keycaps will light up? Or it will be something more like an "Cool effect" as in Led's between the keys, or something would light up. A bad example. But I guess you got the point :)

I have noticed that when it comes to peripherals like these, the actual release date is not when it is widely available. Usually they are first just available at selected retailers at first, and sold out fast. It may take over a month or more for them to be widely available. This was the case with some other keyboards, and I recently had the same problem with the Zowie FK, which is technically available, but I would have to import from Denmark.

Very good question! I am interested in this as well.

The normal QFR with green switches was only available at mechanicalkeyboards.com and the Coolermaster Store but both are sold out.

I am desperately looking for a TKL board with greens! Please don't make us wait any longer  :D

I'm hoping to make the Stealth my first foray into the world of mechanical keyboards. Aside from the CM Store, which distributors can we expect to see these available come 4/11? Fry's perhaps? Or are they usually exclusive to the CM Online Store at the very beginning?

As for the stealth, kinda stinks, but we've gone this far not having one, whats another month?

I just watched Newegg's video with CM at Pax East and the QFRS looks really nice! Rajiv said in the video that it should be coming to Newegg "soon", but what kind of soon is that? Like 1 month, or a few weeks? And what will the pricing look like? I really want to pick up a QFRS as my first mx black kb.

I've linked the video deazncy is referring to. There's only a quick mention at the 2 min mark. Available on Newegg on 4/11 I assume. Enjoy.

DAAAYUM GURL, Have you been lifting Rajiv? When he said "Very soon" I put on my excitement pants on again. I realise 4/11 but still, if they are gonna be available at newegg.com the same time they are released. Excited.

Unfortunately, no confirmation it's 4/11 on Newegg specifically. Rajiv mentioned 4/11 a couple of times now, via the video posted and on this thread (or another?) but the video posted was shot by Newegg's social team, which gives me hope.

Waiting for the Stealth has given me time to think my purchase over. A Bluetooth enabled keyboard seems intriguing and useful, and I know KBtalking has a TKL Bluetooth enabled board in the works. Anyone have any idea whether there would be any disadvantages to connecting a keyboard via Bluetooth versus USB/PS2? Will there be any lag or interference that a wireless connection might encounter?

Im pretty sure a bluetooth keyboard would have a discernible amount of lag, but if it was less than 50ms, I would say it would be worth it for the convenience factor. Would love to hear/see some testing on this.

Still planned for this week... there was a strike at one of the ports our container was at, so we just need to make sure we don't lose a day or two.  I will post when it is ready and available!

Hey guys I am new to the forum. Actually, I joined because of this thread! I just recently got into mechanical keyboards but now I feel like I can't type without one.

As for the stealth its now on the CMStore website but listed as unavailable, price is $99:

I talked to a rep today; I think his name was Ruben Franko. He said they won't be available until mid May  :( . Please someone correct me if they can confirm otherwise. I have been drooling over one of these for three months now haha.

Hello fellow PA person,

Word around town is that there was a strike at one of the factories in Asia. The 4/11 release date is off but a new date of 4/15 is now being circulated. Although they say the 15th they are stating this isn't set in stone. It has been set back multiple times. Best answer is, it'll be released when it's released.

Didn't the link you posted say they were going to be delivered to CM on 4/15. That means it's on their loading dock...not in their warehouse or distribution point. Probably going to take a little longer before they can actually go out.

REPOSTING!

We got our shipment in over the weekend and I'm happy to say that we have secured a limited quantity at the CM-Store. For you early adopters, we have it up and ready to go!

http://www.cmstore-usa.com/quickfire-stealth-mechanical-gaming-keyboard/

For Amazon/NewEgg - their shipment leaves the warehouse today and based on their internal logistics, it could take anywhere from 3-7 days to be fully available in their systems. Since NewEgg is local, I would anticipate they get it sooner. NewEgg will only carry the Brown switch for now. Amazon will get both brown and green from this first shipment.

Canada I have no definitive date because the shipment is leaving the warehouse today to respective channels of business, but will update when I get confirmation.

Thanks

I don't know if ducky caps would work but they make side printed ones as well. Such as ABS : http://tigerimports.net/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=13387 or PBT http://tigerimports.net/sunshop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=13382

I would say its a money thing. They would rather you buy an entire new keyboard instead of parts.

There are some other changes besides the keycaps.  The repeat rate is now adjustable and I think they connect with micro usb now.

They only charge you when it's shipped, and you can cancel if it's taking too long.  From my experience, 1-2 months or whatever is just a placeholder when Amazon doesn't know when they're going to get more, and it's usually just a few days until they're back in stock.

I know this is kind-of off topic but. It's mine >=D

Well, to tell it short. I'm not the one ordering stuff, my Dad's friend does it so on, so on.
So what? What's the point of this non-sense.
Well, since you know, adults (No offense)... I make a sentence in an email "Important, buy the ____ because ________. It's very important". And... Still buys the different one, and that's the problem with amazon. I can find a direct link to a Quickfire Stealth with Cherry reds. If I give a link, it opens the "default" page of it. Quickfire with browns or something. So yeah, shipping already costs A LOT. And I don't want anything wrong...(Again).

If Somebody could give a link directly to QFS With red switches. Please do! I don't use amazon that often ^.^

So.. I ordered the one reds on the 18th, and the shipping date said / still says 1-3 months. Is this all it has said so far, or did I miss the boat on a batch of in-stock ones that will be shipping sooner?

That means they don't have any in stock. But will charge you and ship one as soon as they come in.

Whats about the difficult to sell the Quickfire Rapid Stealth in Europe.
I really do want this keyboard since months but with ISO Layout. Are there any hopes that CM will release the Quickfire Rapid Stealth in Europe (with MX-Red)?

I'd personally love to see them get around Filco having the rights or whatever to ninja keycaps in Europe by either shipping it with no keycaps or complete blanks. I'd buy one in MX Reds ISO layout with no keycaps in a heartbeat.
