Looking for the first mechanical keyboard
« on: Sun, 15 October 2017, 11:08:34 »
Hi all,

Long time programmer, since early 2000s, and only on standard non-mechanical keyboards. Now I want to try the mechanicals, I wasn't even aware they exist until a couple of weeks ago. From the videos I watched and reviews I read, I am looking for a TKL (or alike) layout and possibly silent since I am working in a small office environment. I settled down to 2 options:

1) Matias pro mini quiet - the only negative thing I is the quality issues I read about on various sites. Not sure if most matiases tend to develop this issue over time, it could be the "internet doctor syndrome" - everyone seems sick on the internet, if you're searching for any sickness.

2) Realforce TKL - hard to get in Europe and much higher price tag. But if Matias is that bad, quality wise, then I'll fork the cash.

EDIT: A negative for RF is that I assume it's not as silent as Matias. Although not far away.
Being in Europe, I am considering buying from the keyboard comapany (I find not other option anyway).

Thank you and cheers,
Sorin
