lol.  That looks totally  awesome!  Great find on those blue 'caps.  You can mix and match with your white set too:  blue mods with white alpha keys looks pretty cool.

Thanks! Yeah I was lucky enough to find someone with these ;)  I would definitely go with the white alpha and blue mods but unfortunately this keyboard didn't come with any stock white ones :(  Maybe in the future if I could score some :D

Thorpe have all the best colours.

That's true and they're pricy!

I agree but I couldn't wait any longer for keycaps and it was already hard enough to find a set so these will do for now  :thumb:

Personally I like the first one - pink with all black modifiers! :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Oh damn, you got one of those Sony BKE topres? Was contemplating picking one up but $50 was too much of a risk for me. Is there anyway you can get that weird connection to work with USB?

You could but it would be a lot of work unless someone already has it running for the Soarer Converter... and I don't really have any interest in doing so. I bought it for the chance  to try an old industrial Topre product as well as a few interesting keys.

God only know how crazy expensive these must have been when they were new.

Thank you! Big complements, seeing that you have so much more awesomeness :P

Hehe ~ I have smaller hands and type with my hands at a wider angle so the flipped spacebar makes contact with my thumbs more naturally. If you're talking about the texture/look of the spacebar, it's because I put tape on it huhuhu ~

If you find that the bottom edge of you spacebar cuts into your thumbs, like it does for me, you might want to do that ASAP, as it'll alleviate much discomfort. I find this issue to be more obvious in Topre spacebars than on Cherry's.

:thumb: I was going to say, "Think of it this way: You have around $500 more in the bank than I do," but then it seems you have already purchased the Slimblade, and you're willing to spend $300+ on the 55g :)) Remember that the white 23U is still readily available, and so are some other Realforce key cap set colors. It's also a good thing you don't care about green because if you did, you' d have to find someone who's selling, as no vendors have had them in stock for awhile now.

Yeah, actually, I'm thinking to going full white this time. Type-S is white anyway. RF 55g is easier to find in white (I can't find it in 10th ann. edition at all in fact :( )... Then it will be keycap fiesta (Topre style : ULTRA LIMITED CHOICE). And the 23U is white only unless VERY lucky. Sooooo... But then my FC660C WILL LOOK WEIRD AROUND THEM. Yep. Got problems (the real ones like NOT ENOUGH CLIENTS are boring. ;) )

Type-S... $400 :P I think the white 23U is beautiful. At least the limited choice of Realforce key cap colors are all really good looking; can't go wrong with any of them. I'll look forward to seeing what you do :)

Thx :) And actually the price will be much lower for me. I have proxies in Korea and Japan. ;)  Got my FC660C for 170 dollars WITH nice free Fedex. :D (friend to friend in the same BIG company with office in Seoul. ;) ) Can't abuse them but hey, XMAS IS COMING!
Own : HHKB Type-S | Leopold FC660C (x2 - 1st Gen & 2014 silenced) | RealForce 87U TKL (55g uniform) | RF 23U | Minila Air MX Blue

I bought it for the chance  to try an old industrial Topre product as well as a few interesting keys.

God only know how crazy expensive these must have been when they were new.

Nice one.  Good that someone saw past ditching money on HHKB's and Realforce's for something a little more unique  :thumb: .

If you find that the bottom edge of you spacebar cuts into your thumbs, like it does for me, you might want to do that ASAP, as it'll alleviate much discomfort. I find this issue to be more obvious in Topre spacebars than on Cherry's.

I have indeed noticed it cuts into my thumb. Not sure if it's just a positioning thing (I'm getting used to the size and everything still) or if it's just because I'm typing so much more now though!  :p

Detachable cable mod on my 87u 55g. One thing I don't like about Realforce keyboards is the fixed usb cable. So I decided to make it removable. I used a StarTech usb a to mini b 1ft. female cord. I cut the a end off stripped the cable and soldered a header plug that fit ( 2.5mm pin spacing) or the original if you cant find one. The cable was from Tiger Direct but I have seen them on Amazon they are less than five bucks. Now I can change keyboards in seconds.

I know that by quoting a relatively old post I may not get an answer but it's worth a try.  How do you ensure that when you're soldering up the header plug you get the wires in the right order?  I've managed to source a USB mini b female cable - does anyone know if this would fit for the header end of things?  If not then any idea of where I could source something suitable with wires attached (or without and the ability to get the wires separately) in the UK?

This has always been one of my favorite color themes to do with a HHKB. Something about a black case with white/grey lettered caps and a red escape just looks so right. Dunno about that black WASD tho :P Honestly, no WASD would be preferrable, IMO, but if you must, get a lavender WASD ;)
