I think EVGA has the best one. It's really, really close though.

I've also heard good things about Galax and Palit.

I haven't left the EVGA world. I would argue that they are one of the best (if not the best).

Hydro??? Yeah it is good. EK water block one??

It might be unveiled at CES, but you could always utilize EVGA's step up program should you feel inclined to upgrade down the road. As far as current models go, I would recommend EVGA's Superclocked 1080. They do have amazing support as others have mentioned.

Yes, but it has the advantage of performing well regardless of the airflow quality of the case..

Zotac. My friend bought (not joking) four different 1080s to try and find a good one and he settled on the Zotac. Low noise, no tearing, good temperatures, and not a huge power draw really.

I'm going for the Zotac mini 1070 for my next build.
Can we get them to build the Alps ten feet higher and get Cherry to pay for it?

Asus ROG 1080 strix (OC) works great with the EK cooling blocks in sli config!
200fps in most graphically demanding games at 1440p with maxed graphics settings!

How far superior is a 1080 gtx to the 1060 in real life usability? I can play Street Fighter 5 or CS:GO at 1440p but I still get below 60fps at times.

You can have a single reference (1080) card and depending on your bottleneck in other components, you should get at a bare minimum of 100fps at 1440p in cs:go with maximum graphics settings.

There's something very wrong there..

No way you should get under 200fps with a 1060 in CS GO ,  even with max settings..

The only way that could possibly happen, might be 4x-8x super sampling..  which i don't think is an option in the default csgo menu

The solution for most gen 10 Nvidia graphic cards due to lower fps I found:
Go to your bios-- advanced menu-- pci latency--change the value from 32 to 64.
However, not changing this value with a gtx 1080 will get you ~120fps in 4k, ~150fps in 1440p I found.

I've never heard of this..  what is happening behind the scenes with the Latency ?

I use TimerResolution app to keeps fps more consistent, and cpu-unpark  (both reduces cpu latency)
