Sam any ideas on that spacebar? It won't work on my ducky, gets stuck down when I put it on.

The spacebars fit, and I can measure them when I get to the office, but I think they are the same length as the DCS universal.  But the stems might be slightly different and the material might be thicker.

But me, personally, I'd suspect skewed stabilizers.  Get them just slightly out of alignment and they stick.  This happens to me about 20% of the time when assembling new keyboards, regardless of stabilizer type.

Does it work with an SP DCS spacebar?

Yeah the problem isn't on the poker, I was just seeing if it would fit on it, the problem is on my ducky shine II.

I've used the spacebar from CCnG and am currently using an imsto thick pbt spacebar on it just fine.

All arrived safely thank you very much!

Really nice to type on I prefer a flat keyboard so this has worked well and is faster and more accurate, excellent stuff. I like the flat space bar in particular.

Also thanks to the people posting tips on how to make the inserts fit on the stabilised keys so they don't fall out during fitting, a little piece of cling film has worked nicely!

Poor picture of the variant I am sticking with currently (I like the plum ones but this feels quite Commodore!).

Excellent GB experience, thanks for all the hard work to the organisers. Glad I picked up all the parts of the sets I did, there was loads of it!

I planned to paint my case copper for these, but then I changed my mind and will be using Round2 PBT caps instead and the case became copper anyway :)

Has anyone had problems with the 6.25 spacebar? I think I've ended up with one that is lazy and just wants to stay stuck down on the stabilizers!!

Yeah I have the same problem. I couldn't really fix it, so I'm just using the Ducky spacebar, which drops on with no probs.

i'm painting my phantom either beige or with a color testers makes called navy aggressor gray. its not beige, its obviously gray but it looks great with the retro because its more a retro gray color.  I had a test piece of plastic i sanded, primed, sprayed, clear coated. but i cant seem to find it to take a picture grrrr but i havent decided if i want the gray or the beige

Some german buyers have already received their caps. I have been delivered a week ago. Probably depends also on your customs office.
My package has not been stopped by customs and I had to pay nothing. Others had probably pay customs duties.

I couldn't get used to it to begin with but after a couple of days I could and I like it :D

I have noticed that I must 'slide' my fingers back from the top row to the home row however as I sort of catch my fingers on the top of the home row keys...  Still nice though :)

!!! EXACTLY !!!

I selected my previous keyboard because time of the purchase (1997) Cherry ML4100 was the only 60% board here. I did not know about "mechanical switches" at that time, so I was lucky with it :)

As I remember, I get used with the totally ugly laptop layout in 1 month.  After that I typed as fast as on a regular layout.

I don't remember that flat keytops blocked me - instead I just slide with my fingers on the keys while I looking at the monitor and can reach specified keys without looking them.

Recently I bought a CMstorm QuickFire: so, now my fingers always blocked  by the common keytops when I trying to sliding on them :) Also, it was 3-4 days to re-civilisationing myself to a normal layout :)

I like to remark that ML4100 having a light cylindrical top instead of DSA's spherical one, so maybe this is the problem for someone (?). I think I prefer cylindrical tops, however I used spherical keys only on my ♥ C64, long time ago. BTW recently I pulled-off a key to test maybe it works on MX RED - but was no success  :D

ORIGINAL C64 logo key photos attached ;) ...that IS the real doubleshot - eh?

I like the flat profile on scissor switch boards and laptops fine.  But some reason, DSA feels like it's convex in the middle.  My fingers drag across keys when moving between top and bottom rows.  I love the look, I wish I liked typing on them.

To all those who asked if they could contribute frunds to cover the unexpected overruns on Retro DSA costs:

We are good with funds, and have managed to keep this within a range we can support.  And we are certainly grateful for the show of support, so no cash money at this time.

However, if you want to do something for the Retro DSA organizers, especially something that will encourage us to move on the Elvish, Nuclear Green and SA-lectric Blue Retro Group Buys, please leave us some Heatware feedback.

Matt3o:  http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=81720

samwisekoi:  http://www.heatware.com/eval.php?id=82246

We worked hard to make a big group buy be successful, and it would be gratifying if we could get some kudos where they will help us do more of these.

So go the the URLs above, or just click on the little flame icons below our avatars, and tell the world if you thought we did a good job.

Thanks in advance,

It's the innermost left thumb key (Menu). Their double-usage currently is defined as:

Code: [Select]
Esc Tab  Space |  Backsp Return -  # when pressed & released by themselves
Alt Ctrl -     |  Shift  M3     M4  # when pressed with another key

Sorry about that.  In some cases PayPal was quite insistent about using the verified address.  I'm glad it made it through Customs, however!

Who else is still missing their sets?  I know Slavfot of Deskthority is waiting, and last time I checked, there was at least one person in Korea.

Please advise as I am holding up final replacements until we get the last set accounted for.  Because nothing will be served after we call for final rounds.

Surprise information:

Remember the picture of a keyboard with a green 1x return, plum and brown keys, and a phone-style numeric keypad?  that got us all on the kick of "Let's add green and plum?"

It appears this is the keyboard of the ICL OPD "One-Per-Desk"

http://www.old-computers.com/museum/computer.asp?c=275

Although we all said "C64 style", the history of the OPD says it's got Sinclair guts!
