Type writer is not self correcting, then what? The Alpha I just got is actually functional and I played with it a bit. As far as I can tell they both do the same thing, go back one space. Can't delete ink from paper.
I guess if you are quick it deletes from memory before it types it out, as there is some delay between keypress and the letters being printed.

I had an electric typewriter in my early student days...  Backspace did just that; step the carriage back a space.  Delete on the other hand stepped back a space and stamped white out over the typed character...

The backspace allowed you to type the same character again and make it bold.  I guess you could also use the same to create an interrobang or similar character made of multiple character symbols on top of each other.

Yeah, it's a backspace. You can see what the full set looks like, below.

A nice all-round collection.
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

The other day my gf asked whether I had any spare keycaps that I didn't need, so I gave her my old stock Filco keys.

I should've known something was up seeing as she's an artist, because today she surprised me with these:

Dip painting? What is thst?

If I'm not mistaken, basically the paints are applied to the surface of a liquid with a buffer (like water and borax for example) and swirled together.  Then the objects are dipped in, capturing the paint swirl and pulling the paint pattern onto the object.  It's a pretty neat process!
