Thanks for the heads up.  :thumb:

I saw it and already have a card on order.  ;D

on the other hand, I'm excited to see mashby's work, you've set the bar for others

I will point out that capturing this card on video is a bit tricky since LEDs are bright and mess with the exposure.

mashby certainly has a way with words, but making the card look good on a video may be a challenge as well!

You can always over-exposed the whole scene with additional lights to overcome the LEDs. Then use a ND filter to bring the overall exposure down to a reasonable level.

Or you could make some sort of snazzy case for your Ravello, complete with LED tinting......

I guess it depends on how Boilermaker feels about it - if he wants the Ravello shown naked or modified. Tinting would be an interesting way to go about it. I thought of wrapping the LEDs with something to dull their brightness, but I thought it wouldn't look as good.

Rats, you are right, that would reduce the 'plug a product' nature of the vid.

Thanks CPTBadAss and jalaj for the vote of confidence, but I'm certainly no ace when it comes to video.

Besides, I'll get bogged down in programming the card and probably never get a video made.  :-\

This is neat,  would be interested in seeing the top 5 or something along those lines after you pick a winner.

Mine just arrived and I took some shots of the PCB:

I'll begin playing with it today and if I can manage to discover tetris I'll try to put a video together.   :))

I've activated it and at least one other person said they did too that I saw.  I'm actually still waiting on an update from i3oiler regarding that, in fact.  ;)

not yet found it.

If we flash it with the firmware on github, will the tetris mode be deleted? or it is included on the repo?

The code on github does not have any extra/contest functionality. That means no tetris.

Yeah, thought of that too. I'm just clueless right now on what to do. :)

just have to buy another one and play tetris on it.

I would be all over this with my terrible webcam quality just so you guys would get in gear and make something better, but the expected return (I don't think my submission will be enough to satisfy i3oilermaker, and thereby rate the chances of winning the prize money quite low) does not justify the cost of purchasing a board to demo.

If anyone wants a hex to re-flash with the standard firmware, PM me.

If finding the tetris is stopping you from making a video, PM me for a hint :)

I want to add to this thread and give away 3 TechKeys Programmable Crads cards to GeekHack Members.

To win a card, post in this thread what you plan to do with it.  In my mind there are so many possibilities for projects like developing games, wiring it into a keyboard, timers, persistence of vision etc.  I still am waiting for that magical overview video so if you can prove to me you are serious about making a demo video, I will consider your entry.  No time restrictions here, I will cherry pick entries that I feel had enough thought and proof that you plan to follow through on it.

That is a very generous offer and I will be writing my application very shortly.

Fortunately there are lots of possible uses so it'll be easy to come up with a few. I can't wait to see what other people come up with.

I'm really hoping to see "Here is what I WILL do..." rather than "Here are some ideas of things that can be done"

The plan is to bring up lots of ideas, and then pick one and do it and then pick another and do it as well if there is time. That way others can take the ideas you don't do and do them themselves.

I think the biggest issue for me is my lack of programming experience. I might want to team up with another GH'er so we can pool our resources.

While I'd love to say I'll do something with one, right now just got too much going on outside work to be able to do work on any projects. Perhaps others are busy as well.

You could always send out an email to your mailing list advertising this and possibly get more interest.  8)

I'd use the business card to play osu, I love clears for typing but linear is my choice for osu. Other than that I'd bind the final key to open either Jalopnik or Oppositelock. I have experience programming these cards (I made one for a friend) but I've never owned one.

$150 is still out there - no videos have been submitted.

Figured it out now. And now the problem is finding a good camera as the LEDs is too bright for my camera.
