Title: Varmilo VA104M CMYK (Electro-Capacitive)
Post by: merlin64 on Thu, 25 January 2018, 15:42:21

This is the nicest keyboard I’ve ever received for review. It’s very well put together and comes with some nice dyesub PBT keycaps. The new EC switches feel great and I can’t wait for them to release a tactile version.

Yes they are linear! I'm hoping the tactile version comes out soon!

I wonder how different these would feel compare to Kailh Box Red.  Structurally they both have the "box" to prevent wobble (similar concept to Topre MX sliders) the only real advantage of this is less contact = less friction.

Though from what I gather Kailh Box Red is already super smooth.  At this point I wonder if it's favourable to go with Box Red since you can pop them into existing PCB and it would just work.

From an enthusiast point of view, this switch isn't good as like you said...can't be put on ANY PCB. But with keyboards utilizing Box switches in short supply, this is a great board for buying off the shelf. I haven't tried box red,but I've tried box black, and these are smoother.
