[IC] SALAMANDER
« on: Mon, 14 January 2019, 08:29:46 »
19.02.10
I couldn't open on the day I tried to start because I didn't get along well with Giggs.
I was careless. I'm very sorry.

I'll schedule the application after GB approval.

19.02.08

I had Korean New Year's Day and was very busy with personal matters.
I'm sorry to my waiting friends.

PCB will use hineybush product. Not include TX bag and price has been cut down a bit.
I'm done talking to him and I'm about to decide on the kind.

It will be held at dawn this Sunday ( 01:00 ).  UTC+09:00

19.01.28

Here's some very bad news.

I did not consider the schedule of KIN25

It was careless and thoughtless of me.

There are PCB to replace TX87, It is little expensive in Korea.

I will find another alternative and worry about it.

The GB will be slightly postponed.

Hello!

I am 힝힝홍힝 who is active in the Korean community called KDBLAB.

This is the IC thread of Salamander TKL.
The original group buy was held in South Korea, but I am posting as there were some requests for an international GB.

 Specs

-Aluminium 6061 / Polycarbonate (Manufactured in South Korea)
-Sandwich mount
-7 Degree angle

 Base Kit ($454 -> $420)
There will be a limit of 20 kits due to PayPal withdrawal issues.

Top / Bottom (Aluminium 6061 / Polycarbonate),
STS 304 (Stainless steel) Plate
Polished STS 304 weight
Tx87 PCB (Leeku)
Tx bag

hineybush's H87A / Not include tx bag

 Color options

Black / Silver / Red / Blue / Champagne gold / Pink (Rose Gold) / Purple, Hard brown gray
https://imgur.com/a/dAFubdV

 Plate options

STS 304 / White PBT (+$15) / Black PVC (+$15) / Carbon fiber (+$20)
Alps plates are also available but do note that the only option for PCB is the Tx87 PCB for MX style switches.

 Weight options

Polished STS 304 / Gold-plated Brass (+$36)

 Schedule
- GB will start on February 1st.
- FCFS through Google Form.

 Shipping

EMS - Ships from Korea
Asia ($35) / Australia ($68) / EU, Canada ($63) / USA ($75)

 Terms

Color of the final product could different from the picture.  Because it is really hard to take a picture color of product by camera
While I will put my best effort in to QC, I cannot guarantee that all boards will be 100% perfect.
Traces of manufacturing may exist where it is not visible when assembled, and small scratches or subtle color differences between top / bottom part may occur during the manufacturing process.
For serious defects, replacements or a full refund could be an option. For minor ones, a partial refund could be offered.
Plate / color options can be changed when the actual GB starts. In this case, I will notify you in advance.

Because of my poor English skills, I was misunderstood to people on geekhack
Fortunately, I could write a more accurate sentence through a kind friend.
If you have the option you want, please let me know in advance.

Thank you for your valuable time.

What is the color/finish in the prototype photos - hard anodized brown gray?   :thumb:  Would the rest be bright dip anodized like "shine gray" from LifeZone?  Would love to see a sample of rose gold and champagne.

Looks like a very classic design - I like it!

Edit: $410 is only for the top and bottom piece or does it also include the weight?

Okay, thanks for the quick reply.

I‘ll skip this then, for me, it‘s too expensive. But good luck with the GB!

Could we get an explanation to why the price is a 1,000:1 exchange rate from KRW to USD?
If exchange rates were to apply, the cheapest TKL option should be around $435-$440. (1,120.37:1)

A simple simple design that makes it cheaper (i don't see any design choice that would increase the price) , not much material and basically "standard" materials nowdays, that's for:

$410 + $85 +$55 = $550   (before shipping, for a simple tkl with nothing particular)

Add shipping and import fees, that would be around $800 at GB price for me.  GL

I just want to to say that as someone part of the original Korean group buy, The runner made sure that everything was perfect before finally shipping everything. I think because English isn't his first language there might be some confusion where it seems like he doesn't care. I can confirm that he cares a lot about the QC of the final product and that he will do his best to meet the expectations for his group buy.

I think it is a valid and fair complaint. Are you trying to make fun of the quoted person for their opinion on the matter?

OP has very little to no history on GeekHack, and has attached a cost that is equal to that of Duck / LZ / TGR etc. - Could you share the thought process on just blindly accepting this price?

Idk man, for that price you should kinda have a dude QC your keeb for hours and move it to b-stock even if there is just a 0.01mm dot or scratch.

I'd rather not comment on price because truthfully I'm not interested in the design at all personally - that said, I think if you're going to try and compete with (as well as the reputation that precedes each one, reliability, etc etc) the Jane V2 or the Orion etc, you really need to try and have your design stand out somehow, either aesthetically or otherwise. In my opinion nothing here even remotely feels like an attempt at doing that.

The price is not fixed. It will be a little cheaper but not more expensive.
However, it was temporarily measured due to the small amount of progress.
Since it is still IC level, I will fully gather opinions.

It was recently launched in Korea and the delivery was completed.
Some foreigners participated in the Korean GB.
Their participation was very impressive to me.

I will do our best, but if there is a small problem, I will make a partial refund.
Of course, the big problem will be checked in the first place and if there is a big problem, I will replace it.

But I'll do my best not to let that happen.

Translation doesn't exactly make sense.
Unfortunately, there is a problem that some of your opinions do not make sense.

There may be misunderstanding because I am not good at English.
I'd appreciate it if you could understand.
Surely foreign culture is very strange to me. Anyway, thank you for your valuable time.

According to this comparison on PVC-P and PBT the density should be about the same.
1.4 g/cm3 for PVC-P and
1.3-1.5 g/cm3 for PBT

Their stiffness is different though. The PVC-P should be way more flexible it seems.

Although I am not sure if PVC-P has the exact same properties as the PVC being offered in this thread.

GL

imagine complaining about gb prices in 2019

>Kinda new user on GH (he probably did other GBs, surely not here).
>There may be some damage during processing or delivery.
>Scratch and very small injury may exist.
>It's good for each other not to participate if you're sensitive.
>$550 on a tkl which seems like a kbdfans design (clearly the design is to cut down costs).

Idk man

He ran it in Korea already but you make good points

The IC has been around for a while now on Keebtalk but I mean, Keebtalk...

Also if I recall correctly Nathan Kim did a review on it, and I hope that's not the reason behind the price. 550+ usd for a basic design with no real flavor and standard materials, all for a TKL is a damn lot.

If he ran it in Korea already I wonder how many people joined in.

That's a big nope for me.

GB price in Korea was $550 as well.

If the price was lower, it‘d definitely be a keyboard I‘d buy.

If anyone is interested in getting a pink colored board, I took some quick pics of mine yesterday.

It has a more metallic finish, so it's kinda hard to get a good picture of the shade of pink.

How much are extra (Alps/MX) plates and TX87 PCBs?

What time will the buy open?

It opens at 0:00 Korean time.

Early samples were of a color difference.
There was no color difference during the Korean GB
I will try as hard as I can but unexpected results may occur.

Idk man, for that price you should kinda have a dude QC your keeb for hours and move it to b-stock even if there is just a 0.01mm dot or scratch.

you do make some good points out of it, but the fifth one is real bad, saying the design seems like a kbdfans design. well every part in this hobby is subjective and that includes design as well, some people prefer RGB, fancy gaming boards and some prefer classic design. those designs have been out previously by boards like OTD 456gt, LZ-CLS, TGR, etc. but I do agree on your point of simple design shouldn't cost much to manufacture.
