Keyboards / Re: Dai ichi Yellow - Very strange indeed...
« Last post by zlobin356 on Tue, 21 May 2024, 16:12:30 »
This is probably the strangest switch I have. It's a mx clone called dai ichi yellow, it's this very strange mx clone made by this random manufacturer that there is like no info on at all or I just missed it for some reason.

The weird thing about it is that it has a click leaf, unlike other mx clones, which confuses me a lot. I don't think I've seen a switch do this apart from those zeal clickiez which apparently have a click jacket. It actually feels alright, like if you gave me this I would probably type on and be fine and like it. It's a lot more tactile when not in a keyboard though. I looked around and someone said that there was binding with the switches, I only have one cause it was sent alongside another switch that will be in a small build.

the top is the dai ichi yellow, bottom a cherry clicky switch (sorry for poor image quality but I just got this today and I am very confused about it)

It's loud af and like rattles if you shake like there is something lose in it, but it's just the click leaf moving around hitting the switch housing making that metallic sound.

Just a very strange switch in general, but honestly more mx switches should do click leafs like this, could actually be pretty nice. (that aren't a dollar a switch please)

Really interesting switch, first time see it. I think we really need alps click leaf switches nowadays. maybe we should contact gateron and ask them if it possible to make something new with click leaf? (i know about zealpc clickiez). hope their samples dont cost too much

Still using the Logitech TrackMan/Marble Mouse/whatever trackball.  The sharp spine hurts the side of my hand and the buttons are awkwardly placed, but it's the best of a bad lot, particularly if you're left-handed.

I don't know if this thread will be relevant, but here goes...

I decided to switch to my Model M for now...loving the crunchiness.

RN im using Akko ACR59 with Tecsee Shenpo/HMX Macchiato/Gateron Beers (i always change switches to not get bored of my board) and Dye-Sub Shenpo Beige keycaps :thumb:
waiting for Neo80, to build it with some tactile switches (thinking about Holy Chickies), Hirose Orange on spacebar, FR4 plate and GMK Handarbeit

What's everyone's thoughts on the new Systems?
The small battery and lack of RGB don't bother me as i'll be using it wired and RGB doesn't fit the aesthetic (although some dim pulsing red lights on the black one might be cool at times)
I've pre ordered the black one with silent switches for late night writing sessions

Congratulations with new board!
I think it looks pretty cool, i hope the qc is good too.
not really a fan of low profile keyboards, but i hope it will fit to your preferences and tasks :thumb:

Very interested!  :D
On one of your old keycap performance sheets you list 3 different heights for the "Standard (M8)" profile, any possibility of you reviving all 3?
