Are these holes not for PCB mounted stabs?

Show Image

Yes, they are. 356/456/360 all use PCB mount stabilisers, but that doesn't mean they're PCB mount boards.

Here, look. Photos of my 360. The PCB and mounting is exactly the same on the 356.2. There's holes for PCB stabilisers but no holes to screw it down to a case. So, it needs to be plate mounted. :

Plate is screwed to the top piece. Top piece is then attached to the bottom piece.

So the plate is only required to keep the PCB in place, not required for holding anything to the PCB. I think there is solely a misunderstanding of what plate mount means to you .
Correct. The plate is what positions the PCB. There's no way to screw the PCB down like on a poker.

My definition for plate mount has always been : The plate is necessary. Remove it and you don't have a functioning keyboard.

I understood that to be the general definition too. I have never heard another.

For example, a poker with a custom metal plate is still PCB mount, since it would be fine without the plate. A Filco or a 356.2 on the other hand would be plate mount, since they rely on the plate.

That makes sense. My consideration has always been per component. The PCB maintains holes for both PCB mount switches and PCB mounted stabs, thus the plate is hardly necessary, except for its need to hold the PCB in place. Thus, I considered the components all PCB mounted, but the board itself still requires some sort of plate.
Ah right.. I get you now. Makes sense.

I think every Korean custom is like this actually. Holes for PCB mount switches & stabilisers. Some of them do support 'true' PCB mounting like the KMAC2, Koala?, and some others I can't think of off the top of my head. The 356/456/360 series are definitely all 'plate required' boards though, and they use the partial poly plates to try and replicate the feel of PCB mount.

Okie, no pbls sir.

But i think that you make BBs and sell at 35-50$$ expensive price for make a BIG PROFITS, not for sharing passion of collection custom keycaps. I hope that K3KC will sell BBs replicate at 10$ -15$ for everyone who want to get custom keycaps but they are no many cash to buy. Because you choose the buyers ? maybe.

I have only 1 Reaper and i was sold for my friend with retail price and never buy and collection BBs again. I don't like a guy like as you.

That's some interesting excuses for being a thief. I see the 'quality' your friend produces, and it's absolute garbage. You get what you pay for. You don't see passion? Because you don't know passion. You are a window-licker who doesn't want to put forth the effort into the hobby, but wants all of the rewards right now. You don't have to agree with my price, instead, you can go look to other cap makers or just choose not to buy. But no, instead you steal others work and profit from it. You and your friend are both scum. So don't come here and try to make excuses for your disgusting behavior.

Take a look here. For someone who designs his own caps and works in small batches, $15-20 a cap is the basic cost price. If someone makes several new designs each year, that price increases drastically. So $35-50 per keycap is not ripping people off but actually a fairly reasonable price. It's a 100% increase at best.

Someone that is stealing somebody else's designs: $4
And only if they do not throw away caps with flaws in them. a.k.a. low quality control.
The only one making big profits is K3KC, charging $16 for a $4 cap.

For those who have troubles calculating the increase, that's 300%

I understand that $50 a cap is a lot of money and it feels like a bunch of rich American/European guys keeping the little Asian guy down. But it isn't.
He could design his own caps and with the same level of quality sell them at $30-40 a piece because of the lower wages.
But he would have to make a name for himself. And instead of building respect he just copies someone else's hard work.
And that is what people here, especially cap makers, are angry about.

I'm not defending K3KC's actions or anything, but I don't understand this..

Unless K3KC is getting his mass produced [seriously doubt this] where does that $11-16 difference come from? Unless you're counting in the time it takes to design it.

In case you weren't aware, k3kc is selling them for 25-35 per cap, so with literally around the same prices for counterfeit caps with considerably less quality, how is pmh1410's argument about mine being expensive, valid?

@Moderators: sorry about my replies in this thread, i don't want to do that but ....
Hmm, well I shouldn't be responding but this is just too good....

Could you please tell me how much click clack sells his skulls for now? $40-60+. Is click clack making BIG PROFITS? Is click clack not interested in making people happy and sharing his designs?

Tell me that please...

And click clack is making the SAME design as he has from the start, bro caps is always coming up with cool and interesting designs. Click clack has only made a few designs over the course of his entire "career" but his prices still go up.

And now that that is aside, click clack is making $40-60+ each skull keycap but yet you don't have anything wrong with click clack, do you? (Or I think you do, since you are supporting a counterfeiter who is ripping off his work)

Don't get me wrong, this is not a jab at click clack.

ALSO, your friend is clearly making the fake brobots as a way of getting back at bro caps, right? So why would he put the prices high when his only intent seems to be to hurt bro caps? He isn't selling his click clack knockoffs for $10 is he? So tell me why the hell that is.

Also, if it is only 6-7 dollars to produce a keycap, your "friend" is making big profits as well, right? And that is big profits on stuff he didn't even design.

We really need to keep this on topic, everyone.  There are already quite a few threads dedicated to this issue, and we have already derailed quite a few other threads.  Let's please keep this topic to Korean Keyboards.

(last couple posts are on topic, but this still needs to be said)

Feelin' my slim and simple style....and a Beretta. A wise man once told me, as long as I got my Beretta, I'm down for whateva.

This is too good. Made me laugh at 8 AM :)  :))

Wow those caps are pretty yellowed and that board looks weird. What's up with those square stems? I think you should send that this way so I can further inspect it.

Came from a Heu-292, the keyboard itself is rubbish, fun alps clones on it though, salmon coloured clones with a green coloured clone on the space bar.
I got boards.

Pardon my ignorance, what board is that?

I REALLY want a custom alps board like that with some linear green switches on it.
