just finished Say "i love you" in one sitting, im such a sucker...

I marathoned it two weeks, ago.  I was hooked after the first episode.

Then I started watching Little Monster.
man we're just a bunch of suckers arnt we :(

Completely.  I've enjoyed those two series more than I have most others recently.

And Lupin is awesome.  I'm close to giving Bakumatsu Gijinden Roman a chance this season, too - since Monkey Punch did the character designs.

I just finished Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. It was pretty good, but Kimi ni Todoke is still #1 in the shoujo romance genre as far as I am concerned.

When it comes to Honey and Clover I felt bad for all the characters because even though there were so many relationships that could have happened, in the end, no one was able to get what they wanted. (at least after the first one. I have yet to watch Honey and Clover 2.)

Yeah, I just go by whatever a series is listed as on Myanimelist but it is just season 2.

What is bad is when shows use random symbols or words like Hidamari Sketch (365, honeycomb, sp) for each season so you have to check the dates that they aired to put them in order.

I have no idea about the Haruhi thing, but I enjoyed Chuunibyou demo Koi ga ****ai!. It gets pretty good toward the end (plot development wise) and there were some pretty funny moments along the way.

I'll start Sukitte Ii na yo now to see what's up since it seems like everyone else has it finished already.

I really liked the characters in Sukitte Ii na yo. It felt similar to Kimi ni Todoke and Kaichou wa Maid-sama! in terms of the effort put in by the main male character so that was nothing too new. What made it really enjoyable to watch for me was how much the main group of friends cared about one another.

I didn't pick it up this season.  Something about it kept me away.  Didn't realize it was Aniplex, though, so maybe I'll give it a shot.

Oddly enough, even though Angel Beats is set in Japan, thats an American style HHKB.

What episode of angel beats is that from?

Re: Anime Thread
« Reply #324 on: Mon, 28 January 2013, 23:39:16 »
Champloo (amazingly good)
Ghost In The Shell (the series - pretty good)
Planetes (good)
Black Lagoon (also good & sort of like Planetes evil twin)
Evangelion (watched in a state of "wtf?" and "How can something so weird be so uninteresting?")
Hellsing OVA (definitely wtf but in an interesting way)
Legend Of The Galactic Heroes (watched first episode in bemusement at a plot based on everyone being an idiot but the hero, then collapsed in laughter at the waggling-ass end credits.)
Marine Boy (first anime imported to the West, saw as a kid, kicks ass for under 10s)

Films:
Porco Rosso (excellent)
Spirited Away (bored me)
Laputa (good)
Howl's Moving Castle (good)

Two western shows I'd count as anime because of style:

Aeon Flux (epic)
12 Ounce Mouse (excellent)

So I'm trying to figure out if I need to watch Fullmetal Alchemist before I watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.  The general consensus seems to be that Brotherhood is much better than the original and stays closer to the manga but will I be missing out on things if I skip out on the first installment?

If you have time, watch the original then brotherhood. But as for someone who has watched both and read the manga...brotherhood is so much better.
But the story is quite different in the first version of the anime, so it's worth the watch.

fma brotherhood is like 9.5, fma (the original) is like a 7.5

fma original dragged on, was kinda boring in a few episodes, and went like, wth? um ok

fma brotherhood, just got it right.

fma brotherhood is special, out of the 300animes i've watch it ranks as top 25 (i would say top 10, but i like to be conservative and just lean towards top10)

is it still on hulu? it was awesome when hulu was releasing new episodes the next day.

yea most anime have fillers, that automatically drops 2 rating stars for me, i don't have 22minutes to waste on trash episodes. That's why i'm so in love with great animes like sword art online. Arguably when i saw the first episode i thought it was going to be fillerific, it had the makings of being cast full of fillers, nope, not a single episode was filler, i would say last episode dragged a bit, but completely forgivable.

why does the sushi guy say SOFT 100 is good for Chroma...

Not 100% sure but the second game was in the light novel also, and the novels are still going on with them playing more different games

Just because it was in the original novel, doesn't mean it's not filler... He totally ran out of ideas, so he wrote the SAME damn story where the protagonist is "recognized" for being awesome, ALL OVER AGAIN...... That is filler....

Just like how naruto keeps getting "extensions" to his existing moves that do VERY little improvement and takes 20 episodes to develop.

I guess if you want to define it that way, but we're talking about anime fillers which to me means  anything in the anime that the original author did not write. Those 20 episodes of Naruto yes it was a filler since in the manga it was over very fast, and he did not write about 90% of that arc

On the other hand for SAO they cut out a lot of stuff in the novel and sped up the entire story, but the author did write more novels then what the anime has covered so far, and who knows maybe all those games as him being a protagonist leads to something. So no I wouldn't count that as filler.

Fillers are annoying but filler arcs are the worst

elf world isn't filler, like previous said, it's part of the manga, and no it wasn't run out of ideas, anyone who has played video games can recognize the significance of the worlds, before it was a levell grind, then it becomes skill aquiring. filler is defined when the anime series makes up whatever the hell they want, because the manga is moving too slow or not fast enough for them to create a episodes, usually it's a 3 or 6 episode "side story" or a flashback to a younger time, or focusing a 3 episode arc on a terciary character. that is filler, and filler is crap, because it's just there to take up air time, even if it was good filler, which is very rare, it's ignore the second the manga has caught up to speed.

;D LOL say what? How could Madvr be stressful on the system...

It doesn't even use the CPU all the much...

If one has any NON <$100 gpu, it can handle everything madvr, assuming you're at 1080p.  At 2560, you need something like a $150, something around ati 7850

IDK why many anime viewers put up with crap..

Here is Tp4Tissue patented Anime viewing system.

Step 1:

Only ever bother with "finished animes"

Step 2:

Thorough read of the episode guides

Step 3:

Go through anime watching only well animated action scenes and chest boing! averages to 2mins per episode

Step 4:

Feel Great about the fact that you've saved yourself 4hrs on 13 episodes, 8hrs on 26, etc, etc....

Contrary to popular belief,, I Fking LOVE ANIME.

system = gpu and yes even the cpu at least a bit with my settings. Because unless your using some of the few gpu upscalers the cpu is doing the upscaling. Also i use lav filers and decode the video using my gpu as well. I only use nvidia cards because of cuda which can be utilized when i encode as well. You need a nvidia card with a minimum of 48 cores (GT 240, GT 420, GT 610) I really recommend going up to a card with at least 96 cores (GT 430, GT 620/630). To use all the settings that I use you need Win8 and a Kepler based GPU so miminally your looking at a (GT 640, GT 650).

Thorough read of the episode guides

Step 3:

Go through anime watching only well animated action scenes and chest boing! averages to 2mins per episode

Step 4:

Feel Great about the fact that you've saved yourself 4hrs on 13 episodes, 8hrs on 26, etc, etc....

Contrary to popular belief,, I Fking LOVE ANIME.
u does it wrong ur supposed to just pick a random anime, watch a few eps, and if you dont like it toss it aside and start a new one.

Even though i say this now I used to force myself to finish every anime I started as I though there would be something good to every anime, which there isnt and i think is becomming more so now than in the past.

I just want to say, I miss 12 hour anime night binges.
Just....can't seem to get back into it...even my love for manga seems to be fleeting.
