I need the UK layout as I need the £ symbol and the € symbol in readily accessible keystrokes. If there was a simple option to activate these symbols on a US layout keyboard I would go for it.

You can still use those, just set the keyboard layout in the OS of your choise to English UK. The symbols on the keys themselves won't match what is printed on the screen but why look down anyway? :)

That's what I do. I have @ next to enter and " on 2. £ is on 3 and I don't know where hash is. Never used it!
The US physical layout is just so much more comfortable. The HH is even better with the lower BS key. And Control has to be next to A!

Hi Sefira

Welcome to geekhack.
The Swede/Finn models will arrive at the same time as the others so you can chose.
You're right. We find the majority of people are much happier with the layout they're familiar with. I am too - although I am using a USA Tenkeyless right now as it's all I've got.

Okay, nice. But about the custom keycaps, how are they compared to the standard ones?

It's not a custom job, these are proper Filco, they'll have the usual keys, just laid out European style.

So you already sold all SW/FIs? I'm bit suprised, but true there isn't many other options for SW/FI-layout...
So I should add something useless here yes? Ok, ok...

My wheels are in motion - It is happening - most definitely.

Hi Bruce.

First of all im new in hear so bear with me if there is some info im missing here...

Will you be having Filco Keyboard with danish layout, and if so any ETA?

I am fully aware of the slight difference between finnish/swe layout and the danish, but considering the amount to pay for it, you certainly do want to get fully satisfied.

EDIT: did not see another similar post asking exact same question...though I am looking forward for the filco danish layout!!!! ^^

Hi Dxong.

Welcome to Geekhack.

Danish layout will be a little time i'm afraid. It is one of the layouts we want to have but I can't really see it happening until the 2nd half of 2011.

Thank you Bruce.

Im not sure I am willing to pain myself for that long, might have to go with swe/finnish layout, however if or when the time comes where you get those neaty boards with danish layout, will it be possible to perhaps buy certain key letters to complete a danish layout keyboard?

I do have two last question.

Looking upon the pictures with the swe/finnish layout seen on the link below

http://www.keyboardco.com/keyboard_big.asp?PRODUCT=753

the key letter on right side of numlock has a "plus + " inscription, is that a misprint because it should be "slash / " if I remember correctly

Do the red escape key come along upon buying the keyboards or do you have to buy them as accessory?

Thank you again

It is an Obelus, not a plus sign.

Yeah, didn't notice that one, but yeah it's the "division"-sing. Still works as / no red escape key, just USB->PS/2 adapter.

thank you for the replies both of you.

I am gonna buy it for sure then, regardless of the language inscriptions on the keys. However I just hope I can buy certain keycaps to fulfill a danish layout, it has to be perfect!

Last obstacle before purchasing it is what switches I should get between blue and browns, though the reason why I want a mechanical keyboard is first of all the nostalgic feeling and especially the clicky sound, and the great experience from typing on mech board. The blue switches might be an annoyance so im opted for browns...

I'm not looking for any nostalgic feelings from my blues and I love the sound :thumb:

If there would be any time I'd want to cover the sound, I'd wear headphones and listen to some music, but the click from mx blues has become my music.

I had the same goal when buying my first mechanical keyboard back then. I was very disappointed when I got the browns and could barely tell a difference. I expected too much.

If you want the real "whoa, thats what I was looking for", go with the blues.

Are you accepting preorders for those EU tenkeyless Filcos?
Wouldn't want to miss out on the first batch you guys get because some maniac want's to decorate his wall with a bunch of Filcos.

I'd assume we're talking about black Filcos right?
White tenkeyless with EU layout would be way too awesome.

Same questions over and over again - same here actually just today via mail re a German Filco Ten-Keyless . I just wanted to take the time to say a big thanks to Bruce for taking his time and to literally be responding within minutes (to the same old question as I come to realize now from the thread over here).

I cannot wait to preorder (let alone receive) mine* and will prolly keep refreshing the site every 2 minutes from now.

Really nice folk at Diatec as well by the way. At least to me that also plays a role in the buying decision. Big thumbs up there.

Yes.
What I did was got a mix of languages and switches such that if we have to we can make more combinations by swapping over keysets so if I judged it right we'll be good for Black Switch 88TKL Swe/Fin.

Hi Bruce,
The second half of 2011 is coming soon, any news on the spanish layouts? full or tenkeyless would do, afteralls, spanish of one of the top 5 languages spoke in the world, and the layout is the same to most europeans, just the keycaps is the thing. BTW, when will you guys get new blank 105key layout(UK) filco keycaps at sale? and sorry for so many questions, but lastly, why if I want to get a keyboard shipped to Bolivia, South America I can set the shipping to the cheapest one, but if I add anything else, if it's more than 1 item(keycaps or keycaps puller) it forces me to pick a higher priced shippment option? the difference between them is so high that having 2 orders separate is cheaper for me.

Thanks a lot for your answer!
