Sorry random question. Will the mods include the two caps | and ~ in the mod color so we can have a symmetrical layout?  Would that be possible to support?  Thx...

Probably will have it in both symmetrical layout and non-symmetrical layout, will need to ask the manufacturer to add extra caps.

But if the price goes down further, you guys probably can buy two sets and mix it according to your needs :thumb:
Ya. That's what I was just thinking. I see in the spreadsheet that the price per set is $40, but in the thread it is $31.  I am guessing the $31 number is more current?

Thanks for doing this BTW. I forgot to mention that initially. I have much love for people with the gonads to run GBs. :)

Yea, thanks for pointing it out, I have edited the form accordingly :thumb:
Cool. So do I understand correctly that if we get a bunch more orders we could potentially get additional reductions?  This could be one of the best pbt options available right now. Really excited to hear what your impressions are when you get the samples.

Yeap, if there's more orders then the prices should go down further. But I dunno how many orders we can get seeing Ivan just ran a PBT GB from BSP.

Based from the pictures, I'm almost certain this is made from the same factory as IMSTO keycaps.

So they should be cherry profile and the quality should be good too.

If they are actually same source than IMSTO the price is great. Do you have a close up picture of the caps?

I own IMSTO caps. I don't think the colors match to be honest, but I can pull them out and take pictures if we want.

Eh, no. When the sample arrives then I can get some close-ups of my own.

Probably can compare with those from swill then.

I'm hoping to get some blank black PBTs out of this. Have been struggling to find a set.
Same here, I've been wanting to try out some cherry profile-like PBT blank black keys. Depending on how this goes I might jump on board for a set; the price is very attractive. I have posted a link to this group buy on a foreign forum to try and raise interest.

Question: is the black a true black or a dark grey (e.g. Vortex)?

From the picture it looks a shade lighter than true black black. Might be because of the surface? I'll ask the manufacturer.

Feel free to repost and raise interest, if it's your own country you can always collate orders ;D

you really need to confirm whether Cherry or OEM profile. These look like Cherry to me.

If they are thick PBT in Cherry profile this was a sweet deal.

Would your actual order be higher than 1000? Since that's the max in the IC.

I think he is asking how many more he would need to bring the price down more.  How many more need to be ordered for us to hit the next major price break?

At the current volume, should be able to bring it down a few cents from the current 0.2

If the price for the covers gets down, this will be a deal everyone at GH should get. Either, if people want the clear covers for a current project, or they can keep them in stock just in case they need them in the future. I am waiting for a kit now, that I will not assembly until I get these clear covers.

Well not everyone wants to build keyboards themselves. Plus perhaps they don't like the clear look.

Yeah right, maybe the hundreds of DIY keyboard kits that have been sold at GH and now at MD have been all bought by the same dozen of crazy fellows that like to build their own boards.

There were 5974 unique posters last year, out of 16106 members logged in in the same period. However there are 38737 total registered members, but less than half were active and less than half, of the half, got involved in discussions. Therefore, there are ~6k active members at GH.

Does anyone know the brand and quality of these clear switch tops?  I've had an abostudio pop while pulling the keycap off the stem and the stem just came straight out of the
switch.  Now that I'm using black stems, I noticed they aren't as tight as clear stems and I don't have the issue, but that is pretty disappointing.  I've never had a Nixdorf switch
in hand, but I assume the demand for them is partially because the plastic quality is much better.

+1 for this question. I have read people reporting some brittle tops that can be easily break, and others that are made of ABS whose strength is higher.

Male to Female Ratio: 29.8:1

That is a fun fact!

The question is if the ~200 active females are really girls. Otherwise the ratio would be higher.

This reference compare ABS with Polyamide (Pa + Nylon). Poly elastic module is lower than that of the ABS, .4-1.4 vs 1.7-2.8GPa. Meaning Poly is a little more fragile than ABS. However, strength of Poly per weight is just a bit lower than that of ABS. Thus, differences should not be that important, only real life testing would tell.

Clacks instead of females? Nah, I'd prefer to be warm, than to stare at an ugly piece of plastic that may be even more expensive. :)
