I prefer the approach I took for the kit, having something that is somehow generic.

What’s the inspiration for the Ergodox  legends? I’m sorry if it should be obvious.

Locating them quickly:

L1-L7: vertical left hand
R1-R7: vertical right hand
F1-F5: horizontal left hand
M1-M5: horizontal right hand
LW, LX, LY, LZ: left hand thumb cluster
RW, RX, RY, RZ: right hand thumb cluster

Function and Macro. I didn't want to keep using L and R for those keys because I didn't want to have more than 10 L and R numbered keys, and I also wanted to make a separation since all those F and M keys are all on the same row.

My opinions:
- ‘HOLD’ needs some extra kerning. ‘D’ seems further away from ‘L’ than ‘O’.
- ‘TURBO’ feels really squished together. Maybe too long a word for a 1.0u key?

Generic, yet aesthetic. There's a universality to your designs that brighten up photos with your caps.

With the current revision of the Ergo Kit, I rather have it blank than having those L and R, F and M.
Feeling like having a bunch of keys similar to F1 to F12 are just being lazy on the design, imo.

Let's get this clear:

Show Image

- Probably in Summer. Maybe Fall 2019.
- MT3 profile. Color matched to GMK Serika.
- Latin and Latin + Katakana. No bait and switch this time.
- UK and International Kit (Danish, Finnish, German, Norwegian, Portuguese BR, Spanish, and Swedish)
- Colemak, Dvorak, Norman, Workman, Carpalx
- Custom font by me. I think there are over 150 custom legends, but it's probably more. Anyways, who cares.
- Super homing (it's just extra homing keys)
- Ergo kit
- Double B, you know for the Alice. Yes, there's a render of an Alice with MT3. Scroll down Puddsy.
- Macro keys for those keyboards with a macro F-row on the left side.
- Renders by me

If you add three more R3 keycaps to the Superhoming kit – homing "E" & "I" and regular "U" – QWERTY and all Typist-supported layouts could use middle-finger homing.  (No need for additional Katakana keycaps since there is no Katakana Typist.)

Edit: I missed that the Alphas kit currently does not include non-homing "F" & "J".  These two are needed for QWERTY middle-finger homing.  Best if they were included in the Alphas kit regardless, as some don't want homing keys at all.

Sorry Zambu, but I have to agree. I understand the L, R, F, and M now and it seems out of place for this colourway. Just seems a bit soul-less for a colourway that’s so organic and beautiful.  I hate to complain without adding anything though. I think a blanks kit for Ergodox would look really good, especially with the warmer sensual yellow that you’ve shown samples of.

Anybody able to render MT3 Serika w/ Katakana legends onto Rama's new U80-A TKL board in Milk and/or Moon? https://ramaworks.store/products/u80-a

Unsure whether this set would work well combined with the Milk colorway, or if it's better suited to Moon?

definitely work well on milk colorway.
best on milk, but still doable on moon. Can't go wrong with both

^I'm inclined to agree, the only thing I'm reluctant about is the contrast between the white of the Milk U80-A (which leans more towards a pure, sugar white) vs. the very distinct off-white tone of Serika. I'm trying to picture it.

I'm thinking the Moon might actually pair up better, it's similar to the tone used in the Jules board render in OP.

We are getting in a niche within a niche within a niche. The superhoming is meant to be as a novelty kit to the two alpha kits, if we go with that route, the kit should also cover international layouts.

Black and white boards fit with every keysets in general. You can take a look on r/mechanicalkeyboards for a Serika on Black/White board and see what you like most. But black and white boards usually pair well with basically everything.

Serika looks great with: grey, dark grey, black, silver, polycarbonate, milk or yolk. I also think it looks great with dark blue.

Plenty of case options for this set.

**NOT ERGO RELATED:

Not sure if this has been mentioned/asked yet;

I know there are already so many compatibility keys in the 40’s kit, but has there been any notion for an Included R2 1.5u & 2u “Backspace” and another R3 1.25u & 1.5u “Enter” And 1.5u “Tab” for boards like the Dimple and Pearl, And JD45

Sculpted 40’s kits are a nightmare lol

Has there been the thought to split Ortho 40’s and Staggered 40’s into separate kits?

I opted to omit those. The current kit is already a little bit bigger than what I'd like to, and I think there's plenty enough support for many of the boards.

I won't be splitting staggered and ortho for 40s.

Yeah, middle finger homing is too far down the rabbit hole.

But why not include non-homing F & J in the Alphas and Katakana kits?

The new ergo kit is fine the way it is tbh. I'd certainly take it over the old one.

I don't think it's really necesary and it's just two redundant keys that most people won't use. That very same question could be applied with GMK sets where we include the two different homing keys (barred and scooped) but not non-homing F and J.

Totally understood on blanks.  I think the Ergo set is fine the way you have it now, I took some more time to digest the mod text and it's perfectly reasonable.  Truth be told though, I actually voted for your original kit with the labelled mods.  I thought it covered most peoples use case wonderfully.  As much as I like novelty text, it's nice that there are a few sets out there that have normally labelled legends :)

I'm sure it'll be perfect on MT3 though, so don't really care for this one that it won't be on SP SA.

Question:

Is the Alpha from GodSpeed MT3 compatible with the fonts you are using?
