Isn't the QFR plate mounted?  Sounds like a lot of desoldering to me.

Yup, plate mounted, and yup you gotta desolder all switches. It's an easy mod, just tedious. So it all comes down to how desperate you are for the mx green feel. Carter said he's typing on a mx green board right now, but did not confirm whether they will release in the future or not.

I guess only the online shipped versions are unbranded.
I just got my red switches from a local store but it's branded. Not disappointed tho. Gotta say, it's a beautiful keyboard!

I got one from them back during the first sale and it was the original overbranded casing

I feel like the blacks aren't as popular as other switches and might have been harder to move their backstock? I've found that since I've had it I only use it for games that I'm constantly mashing down buttons (such as FPS)

They are all unbranded but, you have a higher chance of getting an unbranded one on the MX Red board.

I don't think they have unbranded browns yet, and probably not blacks.
blues and reds are probably the only ones that you can currently get unbranded.

Yup, I just messaged Carter today on OCN about brandless stock and here were his responses:

"We have not received any new shipments of brown boards since the switch due to brown switch shortage. The reds on the other hand are almost all non branded, just depends on point of purchase and how old the stock is."
"Blues are also very high probability of non branded. If you order from CM Store its guaranteed, but Amazon and newegg both should be non branded."

Well I would still take that with a grain of salt, because last time he said they were "guaranteed unbranded", most people still got them with brands. This raised a little bit of heat. So take that as you will.

You can get these under 4 lbs pretty easily, so it'd only be $25-$30 for First class international mail.

Here's a pic of mine. Had mine for a few weeks now. So far so good as far as performance.

Which keycaps are these? I really like the different contrast of black from the actually keycaps to the legends. PBT?

Fairly sure last time I checked their online store didn't even ship to Australia. I can buy one here online, but not cheap like CONSUS and that get.

^ Welcome to Geekhack!

You have struck lucky from the outset :)
"Because keyboards are accessories to PC makers, they focus on minimizing the manufacturing costs. But that’s incorrect. It’s in HHKB’s slogan, but when America’s cowboys were in the middle of a trip and their horse died, they would leave the horse there. But even if they were in the middle of a desert, they would take their saddle with them. The horse was a consumable good, but the saddle was an interface that their bodies had gotten used to. In the same vein, PCs are consumable goods, while keyboards are important interfaces." - Eiiti Wada

Not more than a Filco. Filcos doesn't move significantly either way with as much force as I am willing use.
Rapid's case moves about 2-3mm outward with light finger pressure, where it hits the bottom case. I think this is as much as you flexed yours. Thumb pressure will flex the top and the bottom case outward together.

The QFR (with greens) that I just received has the lighter branding.  I actually didn't mind the logo on the top of the case to begin with.  It was the key caps that were just too much.  The new caps are logo-free and not bad to look at at all, even with the wonky font.
