Re: [IC] Adventure Night – Adventure Time inspired keycap set - DCS or SA?
« Reply #100 on: Thu, 21 April 2016, 14:04:22 »
My vote is for a DCS set, though I'm not 100% in on a buy, so maybe my vote counts for less. I know DCS is not super popular, but I think it might be the best option right now.  An SA set would pretty much have to wait until 2017 to be made unless you have this ready to roll ASAP. For GMK, I'd hate to see this run against Skeletor. They're not similar per say, but I'd imagine that they appeal to the same crowd. You'd probably have a lot of people choosing one or the other if they ran even close to each other.

This set is fantastic man, I'd definitely be in, probably in either DCS or SA.. That said, I feel the whole style of adventure time, playful, kinda soft and round, is sooo much more suited to SA. I think of Jinn, and all the other weird and wonderful characters and just get a SA vibe.

That said, the shorter wait time on DCS might sway more people to buy, and also the fact that the market is pretty saturated with SA at the moment.

I still just can't shake the feeling that of all the SA sets proposed this one really does go with the feel of SA.

I am most interested in a Cherry profile set, would consider a DCS set pending price, might buy an SA set, and would definitely not buy a DSA set.

While I agree that it looks best in SA, that's exactly where the 'pros' list for SA ends, IMHO.  :P  I'd like to enjoy typing on the set as well (SA isn't bad by any means, but I have more than enough of them), so for that I must put Cherry profile as the strong front runner for me.

I'm in for it ... in SA.  I might be in for DSA.  Unfortunately, I've come to not really like Cherry nor DCS.

I'm voting for DCS simply because I've never seen a set in that profile (I know they exist, but I only started being interested in keysets/keycaps in the last few months), and want to try it out.

Any chance for a kit that would support the ultimate hacking keyboard?

The layout looks like this:

If there's demand, sure. I haven't done the kits yet, but will get to them someday.

Either way, SP is fully booked right now so we're not seeing this set until later this year

My vote is also for DCS, not a lot of DCS group buys would be nice to try it out.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that I didn't forget about the set :) In fact I'm going to LA in a few weeks and would hopefully get a chance to hang around with keyboard people over there. I'm discussing the possibility of running this set (both SA and Cherry!) through originative, much like Skeletor set happened. If all goes smoothly, I'll post another update very soon.

Cherry profile? Do you mean DCS, or did I skip a potential producer?
I'd be very interested in this set, especially in DCS (not at all in DSA, a little in SA). I'd love to get some further novelties in there though, the ones for the bottom-row 1.25u keys are really nice, so is Iceking for Enter and Shift, but I think it'd be nice if you'd be able to switch them from time to time.

I would strongly advice against going with originative on this one though. Not that I have anything against them, but I believe that this is a set that should be released on Massdrop because it is relevant to a lot of people (series had/has many fans) of which only a fraction is a member on GH/DT. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a GB on MD has the potential highest amount of customers, as most recent drops on there show and with all the custom molds on this drop we could use as many customers as possible to achieve lower prices.

Also Lemongrab. We need a Lemongrab novelty. A lack of him would be unexcusable.
Edit 2: How about a screaming Lemongrab as Escape?

Esc Lemongrab sounds good!

I think I'll go with SA through massdrop and order GMK with originative. Not 100% sure yet. Will meet originative people in like a week and discuss that with them.

Can we have the GMK run first then? In case it doesn't meet MOQ, everyone still has a chance with SP that way. I'd be so sad, if I didn't get in on the SA drop, since I'd prefer GMK, just to find out that it won't hit MOQ.
Thanks for considering Lemongrab, really looking forward to this :)

Good catch! The minus cap is a leftover from 65%/numpad kit I took from Hyperfuse, but looking at it now it seems I forgot a couple more caps as well
