For this revision, my goal is to provide an archival quality artisan storage experience.
After living with the Artisan Case v1 for over a year, an insight developed that home access, UV protection, and enjoyment were all important factors to account for.
This resulted in a cleaner aesthetic without the lid screws, and the addition of an acrylic stand to proudly display your resin collection.

Yes, gravity fit only. This was my insight after the last year of having a case. This is really all that is needed 98% of the time. If you need to travel, the foam and band will be there to keep your resin safe :)
Hayt is an awesome dude. Have 2 of his v1 cases and they are by far the nicest I have owned. Dont hesitate on the price when you have spent thousands on resin.

Do we know roughly how much shipping will be to the US when invoiced?
Last GB CONUS shipping ranged from $8-12 via Priority shipping depending on the location. This time around I may opt for medium flat rate boxes for all CONUS participants which will be approximately $13 per individual (given this case is a bit larger than v1).
So we'll be invoiced after the GB closes, and then a second time for shipping?

Quick update - we are up to 187 units spoken for. I'm going to leave the form up for two more days but will be starting the invoice process shortly. My goal is to pull the trigger with manufacturing by end of the week so we can get this show on the road :thumb:

We're still on track with the manufacture, who expects to ship in the next few days.
My plan will be to receive, conduct QC, and fully assemble and package all sets next weekend.
Following that, I will begin invoicing for shipping.

I'm about 1/3 through the shipping invoices and will continue to send them out over the next few days.
Here is my current plan. Get all invoices paid by Wednesday and then I will purchase and print all the shipping labels (you should receive a tracking email notification via PayPal).
Assemble and pack everything up next weekend (11/9 - 11/10) and ship everything out in one wave on Monday 11/11.
If you do not pay your invoices before Thursday 11/7 - I may not be able to get yours out and it will have to wait a few more days.
For all CONUS participants, I am invoicing for Priority Mail. For INTL, I'm invoicing for First Class USPS since that is really the cheapest option I could find. If you would like to upgrade to Priority Mail for faster shipping and tracking, please reach out to me to update the invoice.

After receiving the full shipment of cases and going through every single one, we discovered 110 damaged sets that I cannot forward to you all due to unacceptable levels of defects due to shipping damage, including cracking and chips of the case perimeters (example of damage below).
This was due to poor packaging quality by the manufacture paired with rough international shipping.
The good news is that the unharmed cases look excellent, and the quality of the machine work is very high.
Here are my next steps:
1) Shipping out the first 100 cases that made it safely. These are being shipped in order of invoice #. To be fully transparent, anyone who ordered 2 or more cases were invoiced first, followed by FCFS for single case orders. This means that everyone who ordered multiples will be receiving their cases, followed by a handful of single case orders.
2) The manufacturer has confirmed responsibility and has already initiated new production for the 110 replacements needed. I do not anticipate this will take very long as we are aligned an all details including updated packing spec, bead blast, etc.
3) Once I receive an ETA for the replacements, I'll report back here. My goal would be to have these ready by beginning-mid December.
The first 100 cases will be shipping out this week.
Sincere apologies for the delay. It was a sad day for me unboxing all of the damaged cases and thankful that they will be replaced in full. Thanks to all for your continued patience.

Very much in agreement here, but it also sucks to do it the "right way" in terms of fulfilling the most customers. You either skip the 2x orders, which only serves to punish those that ordered more, or you ship out half their order and penalize them with double shipping when it comes time to ship the remainder of the order.
Tough spot to be in, and I respect hayt's decision and transparency. :thumb:

One quick note on the UV lids - due to the laser cutting process while keeping the protective film on, there is a small residual substance on some of the edging. This will wipe off with a cloth no problem.
Current ETA for the remaining ~100 cases is Mid-December shipping to me. It is my goal to complete this group buy before the new year.

The kickstand is comprised only of two pieces, there is no third piece. They slot together, forming an X, which the case then sits on top of.

So when something like this happens - does the manufacturer usually lose out? Like in this case like 50% of the shipped product had to be recreated - does that mean they just won't make money but have to honor the agreement? Assume something like that has to happen. Perhaps even with the replacements its so cheap for them they still profit? Always wondered about the behind the scenes.

As a show of good faith to the manufacture, I paid them to make me an additional 100 cases which I'll be selling in the Spring. This was to help them with the material cost of making the replacements.

* add a lip or something to make removing the top easier
* add a recessed bottom so that you can stack
* some type of illumination solution could be cool if possible
* maybe consider a slide in top with a band that goes around the box instead of over it
* could follow icebox and add stem indents because it looks nice

The solution I spitballed was adding hole in the middle of each slot and 3d printed stems with a base to prevent pulling through. Then you slide a piece of plexiglass (or something) over the bottom to "lock" the stem inserts in.
You could then include mount it like a picture frame (assuming the lid has some sort of holding mechanism).

Actually, I got one second-hand, and when it arrived it had two large chunks cracked off of it, near the rim. They are clean breaks, so I can glue them, but it's such as shame as both are super noticeable from the front and it's just a beauty otherwise. Any chance you'd be able to replace it? I realize since I was not an original GB member and since it likely broke in transit during a second-hand sale there's really no justification or necessity for replacement but I figured I'd ask.
Also, seems they didn't include the rubber band. Any chance you have extras of those laying around?

I'm curious if you'd ever consider doing that same or similar design, but in a few different form factors. I realize the shape and size impacts the design a lot and I don't suggest to know much about that, but I have some artisan sets / series that would do great if one dimension was 5 slots (for example) instead of the current 6 or 9.

A metal timestamp ring would be pretty sweet. Would that be backward compatible with the v2? And if so would v2 owners be able to purchase them separately?

Update on the timestamp ring - it's looking like it will be a metalized plastic, given laser cutting such a thin strip of metal has proven challenging. More to come!
