Note: Keeb renders are done under different lighting and can change the way they appear, this correlates with real life. Since I did not do my render based off the sample the texuture may not be accurate but the colors are correct to the Pantone book.

Updates:

Ok, Zfrontier came in clutch we have Quotes pricing coming soon, but do to getting it so late might push GB back a couple days like 1 or 2 days once I have official pricing!

As of now, I have been unable to reach Zfrontier, which has been an issue for a minute (its the reason it took 6 months to update the IC) with that being said
I have sent them the stuff needed for quotes, and they are known for coming in clutch last minute.
Incase, this is not one of those times I have already talked it out with my vendors, and they are all flexible to the possibility.
I will make sure I update here as soon as I hear something back. Since it is the Holidays as well HAPPY Holidays!!!

06/06/2020: Hi quick update to fill you guys in. I have updated the colors but need to redo all the renders. That will be improvements from the last and will look amazing. All the colors are now color matched to Pantones and the production file v1 is almost done. Once I finish this I will do a major update with things like deskmats, Kittings, colors, and other goodies also hopefully I will have a sample of the novelty spacebar I bet many of you are excited about. Sorry for the radio silence for so long.

10/12/2020 BIG UPDATE, here is the test spacebar samples (photos of it at least)

Note: When I ask for the spacebar 4 months ago, I was still refining my colors (I still am, just waiting to have the samples in hand) so that is why the space bar is Dark blue the point was too show that they could do a Nice reverse dye-sub. These photos are from Keyreative and ZFrontier. When doing the testing the original (thin lines on the right) they notice the colors didn't shows that well, so to bring out the color more they thickened the line width, but this also caused an issue to where not everything lines up but on the final version I will correct that. I am still waiting as they didn't ship yet due to past Chinese Holiday which just ended, so I am expecting to start getting stuff soon. After that I will update my renders, and release the official kitting( I do understand it seems kind of backwards to not have the kitting out when I originally decided to do it this way I was under the expectations the samples would only take a month so it would been fine. Other things also popped up IRL, and with that said I have not forgotten or given up on this set I am even more excited than I was before.)

10/29/2020: ANOTHER BIG UPDATE

I have decided to use my Pantones as my basis for color, since the samples are taking so long and if any changes happen I will make sure to communicate that clearly as it happens. I would like to apologize for the lack of updating and the lack of being involved. I am truly excited for this set and I really can't wait to share it with you both kitting and updated renders will be posted by next Friday I hope.

Hopefully they'll update the images to reflect each kit instead of just using the same image for every one. I want to be sure I'm getting all the keycaps I need and in the right colours. I assume "phat mods redone" are the text mods since the icon mods specifically say "icon" but it's not super obvious.

Hey all,
First I wanna give a slight update R2 of samples have been ordered and they will have the legends on them, which should let you see the size comparison much better.
I also want to clarify somethings that could have gotten confused during the GB either due to inconsistency on my part or mistakes made by the vendors.
First is the arrows even on the GB page you may notice on the bord renders the the arrows dont match the kits. The reason being I was advised to update them and had honestly forgot to if I am being honest.(at that time I had done about 70 renders a day) but also some vendors even despite me asking them to update didn’t get around to updating some of the kit renders till much later so some of you may have bought seeing the old arrows in the kits. I apologize for this inconsistency as it is my job to make sure everything is corrct before you buy it.

So, for those unaware, the Nutcrackers arent quite ready yet. At the time of the GB Ilumkb was replacing the manu, and it was not brought to my attention until June when I finally got my sample. This means the production was pushed back. so far most of them have been made but some are currently being redone. I will have a more firm expected delivery soon hopefully by tomorrow or the end of this week. I apologize for not communicating this earlier.

I don’t really have a good enough excuse other than I forgot about this page... so lets just get to the news!

So firstly a lot of things have happened regarding the set

- Keyreative shifted from all reverse dyesub to injection base and dyesub/reverse dyesub

- due to ink/pigment mixing from the injection base, the mods and purple keys will be reverse dyesub on white keys

- Keyreative has improved their quality by quite a bit and you will be able to see that in the comparison of samples. They also improved their color intensity

That’s a bit of a summary of everything

Now for photos:

(Preface that images are much like renders they dont always capture everything correctly and are impacted by the screen you look at it on so take everything you see with a grain of salt. I am also not that great at photography, so I do apologize for that)

So at a first glance this may just seem like a bunch of keys and well its is but this also marks the development and changes of this set

- Red: These are the earliest samples of the set and these were made prior to Keyreative improvements

- Blue: These are the second round of samples I have ever received they are post the improvements from Keyreative and use Injection base colors although they improved the light pink and blue colors, they had a major issue with ink mixing with the injected pigments

- Green: these samples are the solution we came up with for the mixing of the inks by just using white base caps for all the mods

Now although the outcome for the green samples was really good I will admit the pink is a slightly darker, its not easily noticeable in most light or at a distance but the closer you put the caps together the more noticeable it is. I have asked them to try and get as close as possible to the previous pink. Also for some reason the purple came out very dark (see below), but Keyreative has already made another sample to match the purple of the Blue sample and should be shipped to me very soon.

For those who don’t get why I rather use reverse dyesub instead of having the injected keys with a bit of mixing. The result were very inconsistent and because of that more likely chance of batch variance could occur. With the way people are looking at sets under a fine tooth comb it’s much better to do it this way. This is another example of how Keycap designing isn’t just color picking either route I go isn’t perfect but I have to chose the route I feel is best for you the customer.

As mentioned before photos can be very deceiving to better show the difference here are some close ups

As you can clearly see the colors are pretty similar but they are also different with the injected pink being slightly lighter

Hopefully this can show you just how bad photos can be clearly the first round light blue is quite different and very far off from the injected light blue and the Pantone card.
(Note: when I was initially designing this set because the injected base colors wasn’t a thing, so colors were best chosen from the Pantone book rather than using a plastic chip)

Saved the best for last the Novelty bar was done again although this time they didnt edit the file like they did before to thicken the lines
For the final version the line have been thickened from .3mm to .4mm which will make it look a like better and help counter some shrinkage.

The nutcracker have been finished for quite some time now I have been trying to get in touch with Louis to see when they will be shipped to vendors but they are done. For those wondering how come they have nutcrackers for other sets and mine was the first. Well first when Louis ran it he was using a different anodized and when he shift they took longer, and then they lost their on hand sample of my nutcracker which i had to send back in. The time really adds up, but I am really happy with how it turned out and compares to the render.

We have waited for this moment for a long time. We are finally in production!

I would like to say a few things:

First: Thank you for sticking around throughout this process.

Second: Rather than cope like some designers and act like the colors came out 100% right even if they don't match the renders, I will go ahead and say the dark blue and purple are slightly off. They are close to the physical pantones which are close to the renders, but the dark blue is a bit darker and the purple is a bit brighter. I do think everyone will be very happy with how they came out as the physical set still captures the original vibe and spirit of the renders. As we all know, renders are representations that do not necessarily account for manufacturing changes (going from all dyesub to injected base). When you take into account monitors, eyes, lighting, etc., 100% accuracy is nearly impossible, particularly when keyreative went through so many changes to their manufacturing process since the original group buy for this set took place. I went through 5 rounds of samples manufactured through a few different processes by keyreative, and the final colors are the best version of the product that could be achieved, and I think they look great.

Last: With production starting this late in the year it may start delivering in China by Q1 2023, with delivery to other regions obviously happening afterwards.

Well this sucks.

From what I've read, it seems that the problems have mainly affected the groupbuys that are pending? After dark should already have been shipped. I cant rally understand why completed orders are affected by this.
