Ducky 78's Arrived
« on: Thu, 28 February 2013, 16:16:13 »
Ducky 78's have arrived, and we'll be making them live shortly.

Sorry for the late notice, but we were not expecting them in for another several days.

I'll try to get a link up once they're live.

That's going to be one long option in the drop down box for switch type.

The last thing I need is another keyboard, but I have to admit that this one looks really appealing.

I am literally broke... having spent several hundred on keyboards and keycaps in the last week. I was planning for this one but now I kinda wish it came in a few weeks from now.

I feel exactly the same way and was STILL thinking of buying one, but then saw that it wasn't Mac compatible.

Whew, that was close!  :))

I'm pretty sure it is Mac compatible. You need to make sure not to use the NKRO-over-USB DIP setting, and some of the modifier keys won't be mapped the same (Option, #, etc).

Purchased!

Man o' man, I'm a sucker for this.  Not practical, but definitely a collector's item!  I'll post a review when I get it and try it out.  I also ordered the Ducky gray backlit keycaps too, and they came today.  Without the backlight, they are almost impossible to read, but definitely give a nice accent to my board.  I only replaced my Esc, Return, and NumEnter keys for now.

Ironically enough, I'm on the Ultimate Switch Winter Tour too.  It'll be interesting to try some of the homemade switches too.

Sounds like a really limited run. I think their Facebook page stated there wasn't going to be many made. That's a shame because it'd make a great demo board.

Ducky originally said 78 total, but another vendor in Asia received one with a three-digit serial.

I made sure to pull one out as a permanent demo model in the showroom :)  It really is the perfect demo board.

I'm jealous. One of my friends who lives in Tennessee is gonna be driving down there today to check out your store. Makes me wish I lived closer so I could go there in person and check it out too :<

It is a really nice board. I was lucky enough to make the trip out there on Friday to play with it and I found it very difficult to leave without buying it.

Was that a smart phone pic?  If so, I'm impressed at the colors it picked up.  Getting accurate LED colors on the back lit boards is difficult even with nice equipment sometimes.

I'm just glad to hear some of you are making it out to see us!  Mechanical Keyboards are 'just a bit' of a niche market, so the keyboard showroom does get lonely at times. ;)

Yep, just an iPhone 4s and then a little sharpening in iPhoto.

The staff there are great. Very helpful and they will bring out boards that just arrived and aren't in the showroom yet and then just turn you loose and let you take as much time as you want.

But it will have to compete with this awesome G80-8113 keyboard I have...

Mine should come today.  This will be my first chance to try out other switches and also see how the keyboard feels as a whole.  I'm really glad Ducky made this keyboard available.  My only experience is with Cherry MX Blue and Buckling Spring keyboards, so it'll be neat to see how these others stack up.

Update:
Got it and did a review of it.

Awesome review!

It's cool to hear that this keyboard is functional.  While gimmicky at first glance, the switch placement is very intuitive in practice.
