[GB] Vertigo - Extras This Weekend!
« on: Tue, 15 December 2020, 09:03:55 »

Final Update

Hey everyone!

I’m pleased to announce the information for the Vertigo extras sale!

Standard Edition: We will be selling all units as marked B-stock. There’s a good mix of both A and B-stock (with the majority of boards being A-minus stock), but similar to what we did for Infinitum, we will randomize what boards people receive. All standard edition boards will be sold for $560 on our website. Good news for lovers of FCFS: extras will be sold this Saturday at 9AM EST on our website, using good old FCFS  ;)

Special Edition: We will be hosting a Vickrey auction for 7 SE units. These units will be A-stock, and the auction will run on Sunday, August 1st from 9AM to 9PM EST, and you can submit your bid at anytime within that window. The starting bid will be $850.

Please let us know if you have any questions regarding anything! Thank you!

Hey everyone!

Welcome to the group buy for Vertigo, our latest project!

Vertigo is a seamless, screwless, gasket-mounted 65% with symmetrical bottom row blockers.

Special Edition Features

   -Brass PVD Rose Gold Base
   -Aluminum full plate

Group Buy Information:
Group buy will happen through our custom developed raffle system!
Please note you need to be a member of our Discord server to participate in this raffle.
There are 120 units of standard edition, and 15 units of special edition available to the public.
The raffle for special edition is open Wednesday, 12/16 from 9AM to 9PM EST.
The raffle for standard edition is open Saturday, 12/19 from 9AM to 9PM EST.
Invoices will be sent within 24 hours of the raffle closing.
Orders will be shipped late summer 2021.

Smooth Curves

Vertigo features smooth curves all around. All four of its sides are sculpted upwards, giving it a thin upper bezel, but also leaving enough room on the inside for its complex internals.
The back piece of Vertigo is an elegant curve that loops around the sides of the board, in a singular flush motion.

Screwless Bottom

From a designers’ perspective, the screwless bottom on Vertigo is arguably the most exciting part of this board. The PCB and plate are designed to allow for the screws to slot in through the plate.
The screw itself is split resting between the two different halves of the cases, which not only allows an even weight distribution, but makes this whole system possible by not interfering with the switches.

Please join our Discord server for the quickest updates, and to further discuss this board. Note that you will need to join the Discord server to be eligible for the sale!

Lulzthax will be building the Vertigo prototype this Wednesday at 6:30PM PST!

Update 1/25

Hey everyone! Time for the first official update!

All manufacturer invoices have been paid as of last night, and materials will be ordered ASAP! We expect machining to begin after the Chinese New Year. We are still on track for a summer delivery date!

Also! For all special edition buyers, we will be changing the silkscreened logo to an enamel infill, for increased durability! See the image for an example.

Thanks, everyone!

Update 4/3

Machining is now complete! The machined parts are currently being polished to get rid of any erroneous machining marks, and they will be prepped for anodizing! We will be having a couple of anodizing samples made for us to approve before sending the entire batch of boards in, and we'll update you guys once we make that decision!

Take care everyone!  :thumb:

Update 4/18

Time for another update!

We haven't cleared all of the anodizing samples just yet, but we expect those to be ready this week. We had some preliminary pictures of the samples posted in our Discord server so if you're interested, take a look. We'll likely have entered the anodizing stage by the next update!

Quick update for SE buyers - e-white tops have been coated, and brass pieces are being prepared for the PVD coating!

Thanks everyone!

Update 5/2

Quick update! Boards are slowly wrapping up anodizing, and we expect that to be fully complete by the next update! This was slightly delayed due to us going through a few rounds of color matching and tuning the grain of the anode, but everything is now approved. We're still on track for our original delivery estimate.

For SE buyers - brass pieces are now in PVD!

Thanks everyone!

Update 5/29

We just passed 5 months for this buy, and we’re happy to report that all boards are now complete!

We’ve hired an independent agency to do an extra round of quality control for us before the shipment is sent out, and production samples have also been shipped to us to verify.

Once that’s done, the shipment will be on it’s way, and we expect movement on that by the next update.

Thank you everyone!  :thumb:

Update 6/14

It’s that time! Apologies for the delayed update this week, but it’s a good one!

Boards have shipped from our manufacturer to our shipping partners, and they have informed us that they will receive it today or tomorrow.

The Yianten port in Shenzhen is currently facing delays due to another outbreak of the virus there, which has a ripple effect in air freight pricing and timelines. Air freight usually takes around 10-14 working days, but with these delays, we expect boards to arrive in around a months time.

Please start emailing us your address change requests, by replying to your order confirmation! Let us know if you have any more questions, and enjoy the rest of your week. Thanks!

Update 6/26

Update time!

Unfortunately, Shenzhen is still being plagued by the same COVID issues, and is currently under lockdown. As you've likely seen, this shutdown is impacting everything, from manufacturing to logistics. We are currently looking into alternate options for shipping, one such option being moving the shipment to another province of China and shipping it via sea shipping, as air freight is extremely limited at the moment.

We will keep you guys updated regarding the movement of these boards! Hopefully we are able to stick to our initial estimate of a late summer delivery date. Thank you all!

Update 7/10

We managed to book a spot on a plane, and we're expecting things to start arriving in the next couple weeks! This is your last call to make an address change, as it's possible that by the next update, shipping will have begun!

A smidge of bad news however - when shipping boxes finished production a few months ago, we figured we had enough time to ship them by sea (as it's nearly 150kg). While the ship docked a couple weeks ago, and everything has cleared customs, due to port backlog, the boxes haven't been taken off the ship yet. We are crossing our fingers that they get here in time so we don't have to delay shipment any longer, but it is out of our control.

Thank you all! It's been a long journey and it's good to finally wrap it up!

Update 7/25

Hi everyone! It's time for the final GB update. All group buy orders have been shipped out (the last few boards will be collected on Monday, but are all packed up). We hope you all enjoy your boards, and shoot us an email at support@eniigmakeyboards.com if you have any issues with your order.

We ordered a significant number of extras for Vertigo, and we'll be announcing a date in the upcoming days. Keep an eye on our Instagram and Discord server to get more info about that.

Thank you all for a (relatively) smooth group buy!

The original cost during gb was 845 so it makes sense.

Just to explain my personal opinion to prevent everyone in the community from stepping on landmines. This is a brand new vertigo obtained from eniigma's GB, just opened for inspection. The picture shows that the surface coating of E-white is peeling off, one of which is 1cm (this is the surface of the bottom, not the inside, if it is inside, I think it’s okay). But when I contacted for after-sales processing, eniigma told me that this was within the scope of A-stock's standard. If you want to replace the rest of the bottom, there are such defects, but it is within the standard. He said that there is no need for this. Circumstances within the scope of the standard cause unnecessary replacement costs. Maybe there is something wrong with my understanding of A-stock, but this is a bad GB experience.

Hey everyone,

We felt that it was necessary to say something about all the issues that have arisen during the Vertigo group buy. We let you down, and we're sorry, and we're going to be spending some time fixing things before we try doing it again.

We've put out a full statement, so please feel free to read it if you're interested in what we're doing to improve things here at Eniigma Keyboards going forward.
