Hello Everyone and welcome to the IC for GMK Cosmos!
In the dark realms of infinite space lie vibrant bursts of color.

Black sets are timeless classics and essential for most collections so here I aim to bring something new and more distinctive than just another variation of a White on Black set. The base is black and the legends provide subtle hints of multicolor that become visible when viewed under specific lighting conditions for an overall minimal and dark aesthetic.

*Disclaimer: Please note that these are renders and it is very, very difficult to convey this texture/sparkle unless you hit it with direct light, but then it makes the render look strange. Black and anything with a multifaceted "glitter" or iridescence is always going to be tricky. I understand that in some of these it may look similar to GMK Dark with CR on N9, this is due to the lighting. We tried to provide renders in a couple different lighting conditions. Please scroll down to the GMK SAMPLES section to read more.




FEATURES

Cherry profile, ABS plastic, thick doubleshot keycaps manufactured by GMK using one of GMK's new custom plastics. Colors: CR base. Multicolor "liquid black" for the legends (referred to as M-LB going forward). Legends won't be super visible. That is by design. I like black sets and it's about the details here. Less is more. Get good (coming from someone who is looking down as I type this). If this isn’t for you, that is ok. OG Cherry-style Icon-Text modifiers, not Omni mods. Legends on LED keycaps are pad printed. Accent keys will be inverse meaning CR legends on M-LB. Add-on kit has 4-key 40's support, extra B and alice bars and the very elite '95 Windows keys. Any missing spacebars are available elsewhere if you don’t already own them since we are using CR/black. EX: GMK Mictlan, Wasabi, Stealth, WoB variants etc. Pricing/Vendors: TBD GB timeline: TBD but ASAP Artisan collabs: TBD. Feel free to reach out if you are interested in a collab.

GMK SAMPLES

GMK sent me samples of some of their new plastics. The two seen here are “liquid black” a and b. One has red specks and the other has blue specks, both have iridescent qualities. Under certain lighting conditions, you can clearly see the blue and red colors while in different lighting it looks mostly like a glossy black. The other cap is a new GMK WoB for comparison. My goal is to have a “liquid black” variant with multicolor specks and iridescence, much like nebulas in space! The renders are trying to convey a multicolor version of these blue and red “liquid blacks” so try to imagine that. I would greatly appreciate your imaginative flexibility.

Really neat set! I'm curious though, why choose insert as one of the three accent keys?

Some people prefer having an accent on that key, especially on TKL setups. These folks may choose to put an artisan on Insert instead of Esc or the top-right cluster, and so on... It's a key that's not used (often, if at all) in practice, so it makes it practical to put an accent there.

Great design idea! Any chance of entertaining the idea of making a kit where all the alphas sparkly and the mods aren't? I think if it's on alphas instead of mods, then it'll look like you're peaking into space and your keyboard is the telescope

Just like LightningX1 said I really like seeing a TKL with a single artisan or accent key to replace the Insert key instead of the more common Esc. By including it here I hope to introduce a whole lot more people to it.

I do understand your sentiment. I wish I had real samples of my design in hand but for now we have these renders and the other sample keys to help convey my idea. I appreciate everyone's imaginative flexibility and I hope you all see what my vision for this set is.

I love this idea. Would almost certainly buy if not for current kitting. No spacebars in liquid black accent seems like a missed opportunity. I would probably cut the 3u bars and Win95 keys from Meteoroids and just push the rest into the base kit. Then you could add a comprehensive accent bars kit, or maybe one kit with big bars (6, 6.25, and 7u) and a separate mini bars kit. I can't imagine many Alice users will want to buy Meteoroids for split bars and a B. Anyone who wants the windowed lock keys probably doesn't need any other key in the kit. And 40s users are not big fans of buying a large child kit that's basically just 4-key support. You really need a more comprehensive 40s kit for that to make sense.

Anyway, like I said, love the idea. Wish it was kitted for me. GLWIC.

+1, I was going to ask for more accents including the 40s enter. Even cool with forced accents because the iridescence is kind of the point.

+1 on 40s kitting. 1u tab, ctrl, shifts, backspace, etc. They might be lurking the kitting, but squinting isn't making it much easier to read

while I'm personally interested in the glitter-black color option and am happy to see it in use black on black is not super appealing to me. keeping tabs on this to see how samples look.
