NEW Cherry MX Clear, Tactile, Custom MX RGB Stems

- This idea has long been shared among us, Since the Cherry officially discontinued the MX Clear in the early 2013.
- There are many ways to get MX Clear Stems, or Custom Stems.
- I just want to share Ideas and Infos, I don't wanna do this GB. Anyone can do GB this.!
- The debates have been in Korean Forum too. Everyone Invited !

- Order MX Clear Switches to Cherry in quantity. It was 100,000pcs MOQ afaik. MX Clear SW ~0.25 USD pc @MOQ
- Even You can order it thru Online Stores (Digi-key, Mouser, Verical, Arrow...) ~0.40 USD pc @MOQ
- Order RGB MX Clear Switches to Cherry in quantity. Need to check the recent MOQ.
- Order MX Clear Stems (Switches) to Gateron, Kailh, Greetech, etc Stems ~0.03 USD pc @100,000 MOQ
- Prepare the Moulds for the custom MX Stems, and produce it. Anybody can do it for All of us. by New Mould ~0.025 USD pc @MOQ
- Or the other ways ? Need Your Research !

Production in China is cheaper, Production cost in Korea for the stems is Not that high too.

What is the cost your nearby?

possibly made of extras, or custom order to Cherry in qty.
For example, Poker 2 MX Clear Model, ...... many...

3 cents per stem if we got 100,000 and we'd just have to find housings to put them in?

Just wondering, but what is the intention of getting the MX Clear Stems? I was not aware that many people like switching stems that much for the coloring of the stem. This would be a great idea to do this if people were able to get different colors. I know that people have asked Zeal for just purple stems, but Gateron isn't in the business of selling just the stems and the 100,000 MoQ sounds a little out of reach, especially for one color.

On top of that, this can easily be done in China if you send the sample of the Stem to a plastic factory.

The mold will cost around $3,000 (but possibly less), and then each stem would probably cost around $0.03 or even cheaper at higher quantities. Those estimates look correct.

this sounds exciting in some capacity, but I'm a little confused on why someone would like to do this.

Just realized that you can make tactile bump with it. Sounds like a great idea!

Gateron just 0.03usd. That's so cheap. Retail sells 1rmb/pcs(around 0.14 usd). Make me wanna buy some of those....
Also, i am wondering about how much the Cherry MX will be... Anyway, i am interested.

Yes! An answer from the major Chinese Switch factory was ~0.03 USD for the Stem only. Should be cheaper as You say JChan94!

I'd be totally down for a dampened Clear switch, if a stem is 3 cent I'd easyly take 1000.
Other than that I'm mainly interested in Clear housings made by Cherry, as I dislike the contact leaf in Gaterons.

I have been interested in MX Speed too
Pretravel 1.2 mm (much short than conventional 2.0 mm)

Yes, Kailh feeds me New infos and samples, but just I want to share opinions with others on MX in this thread.
Yes, I am very interested in the low profile switches since the Cherry M8 .

Cherry announced they discontinue MX clear models from their keyboard catalog, No more clear switches in their stock, but still taking custom orders from the third party manufacturers and worldwide distributors since 2013.
But They have MX clear switches in their switch catalog.

I see it has been posted here before, but I like the burgundy stem color of the MX silent. Fully-transparent housings (as opposed to Gateron's milky-white translucent housings) are also nice IMO, as you can see the switch elements inside.
