Thickness and profile will be identical, but as you mentioned it's ABS vs PBT.

I'm sorry it's taking longer than expected. There is more parts to this than in other keycap buys as we have separate parties to deal with for PBT material supplier which is located in Japan, PLUM in China to make that material into keys, then finally imsto elsewhere in China to do the dyesub work... all of which need to coordinate to make a product they have never dealt with producing before. I know people like things to move quickly, but I would much rather take longer to make sure a good product is delivered.

Currently it's still in the sampling stage. Yes I know STILL!!! The goal is to make sure we can get the caps as dark as is possible while still having the dyesub legends to be visible. It will take some effort in tuning that and to avoid big QA problems in production stage.

I don't mind if they take a long time (within reason, I'd like them by end of the year), I want them to be as good as they can be.

I'm going to be using this set as a daily driver for years to come, so even 6 months longer isn't very much in the grand scheme. I want these as soon as everyone else, but I'd prefer them to be perfect and have them in a few months rather than mediocre and have them now.

Got a mini update. PLUM says the Japan PBT is 'too soft' and too prone to scratches and dents for their liking and they have deemed in unsuitable for their production process. They said they are going to get similar color from DuPont to try.

From the sound of things currently it should be another week or so for them to make sure the new plastic material is good to go then hopefully we should finally be starting production phase relatively soon after. Worst case scenario based on current info these should be to you in September. Odds are it will be sooner than this, but I haven't gotten a locked in production slot yet.

Considering how long this took to make I should have ordered two sets just in case something happened to one of the keys (lost, scratched, ect). I assume its too late to tack on another set, ay?

Also, for us baller touch typists who are getting blanks - will they be darker than the ones with the legends? You mentioned that they are sampling in order to get the caps as dark as they can with visible legends. What about us with no legends? Can we just get our nice dark caps sent over? ^.^
