this has nothing to do with SP

Show Image

can you explain what you were talking about when you referenced SP? it's an entirely different company with entirely different manufacturing processes and it's too damn early for me to think of any jokes.

The MOQ is just about making enough to bother to setup the machine and make a run of keys. Devlin already had the molds for probably at least 20 years or something.

Will they have the short right shift mold?

I would assume so given they had some weird stuff I asked about like 1.25 home row key.

Yep. I asked about a pure mod kit from them a while back and the only barrier was the 100 moq

I do like the idea of a complete GH classic colorscheme charcoal, orange and white set.

Something akin to this?

I tried out playing with charcoal legends on the orange keys, but they look less than desirable.

This color scheme is gorgeous! I always like that orange color from round 3 WASD kit.

I don't get the hate that's shown for Orange and Charcoal......why?

It's unique, no other recent key-set has been made using these colours (correct me if I'm wrong here), and it would add to the multitudes of great Key-set pieces that have already been made thus far.

I only hope Sleabo accepts this and starts making it soon for this Group buy.

One of the issues to my understanding is that they can't do charcoal coloured keycaps. Otherwise, it does look good.

They're the colours of the old website theme, so they definitely say 'Geekhack' without actually saying it.

first of all i dont know what the deal is with this light-mods/dark-inputs blasphemy. you might as well dig out the keyboard that came with your parents' HP that still has all the stickers on it with taste that bad :))

second, if you want that color scheme in the right order (orange inputs, dark grey mods) you had like a year to get in on round4 and you might still make it in. as much as i want to see full sets from qwerkeys i have a feeling it will take longer than round4 (counting from today, not start date).

third, yes, unfortunately no charcoal keys from QWER at this time.

Anyways, I don't know if this will get off the ground any time in the next month or so so maybe this should be moved to Making Stuff Together? I have another GB i am looking to start and would rather not divide my attention between 2.

If anybody else wants to try to contact QWERkeys about a modifier set please be my guest.  I have not gotten a reply to my email a few days ago.

I would really be interessted in a set of their B series. Especially since you can only buy the B series as an esc key without a MOQ. The Orange with charcoal looks cool but I am already in for an orange set from Round 4.

B Series RGB Keycaps would be awesome if Qwerkeys can make them.  I did a quick mockup in Illustrator.  I think the top two sets would look awesome, preferably cherry replica font :D

Edit: Black text on white keys :D

Just to clear up a few things.
I will accept that if you don't reach 100 MOQ's for modifiers we can still go ahead with is because I will be able to sell any spares in the long run.
We can't do space bars (500 moq) but we can do everything else in Jseries.
The MOQ's are there for mod because its not cost effective to just make 10 Mods
B series come in 1, 1.25, 1.5 and 1.75 only
thanks

QWER dosn't have dark grey/charcoal yet.

sleabo - thanks for dropping by? can you give us a rough estimate of what our effective MOQ would be, or are you just trying to get as close to 100 as possible?

Also GHers - DT is trying to do a similar by so I'm attempting to get in touch with the organizers to see if we can team up. More keys for everyone!!

that can definitely be arranged depending on interest. still waiting to hear back from DT where a lot of euro dudes hang out.
i am a big fan of just including all the keys in a series into one 'item' rather than splitting keys up into groups. it raises the price slightly across the board but it helps out people who have different keyboard layouts, and it prevents certain parts of the set from getting too hard to find after the GB ends (current tsangan-kit pandemonium is a good example).

Sleabo. If this comes off, will you be able after to offer modifier kits as a normal practice on your site?

If so, I'll be in regardless of the set, as I will be able to get my personal choice of colours from you after if the GB isn't quite my first choice

So are we just going for a small modifiers kit now instead of full set?
I'm down with that as long as it is: tab, caps, shifts, ctrls, alts, wins, menu, enter, backspace. If it's both ANSI and ISO in one set I am fine with that too.
I would like charcoal base, but may still be interested if there is another base color chosen.

this all sounds great to me. as far as legends-- i think most people are going to vote for orange but I would prefer yellow or light blue. are we going to consider 1.5x modifiers? also, sleabo if you're watching this thread, can you tell me if you can do stepped and/or off-center-stemmed caps locks?

Now comes the hard part, picking what colour(s) to use with the Charcoal.

Sleabo can we choose a base color at a group and then a legend color on our own since you'll be engraving these and not double shooting them?

This would be great if it could happen.

I assume that there'd have to be a reasonable limit to each fill colour.

That's what I'm thinking. A dark gray set (w/ different color mods/alpha) with a pick of legend color would be damn cool

i won't speak for sleabo but i think that's a bad idea... it's going to make the organization and shipping of all these keys a real pain in the butt. unless QWER is willing to do that for us. which is not very GB-like but I would not turn down the idea.

plus you'll be able to order custom ones after the GB i imagine... would be nice to make these unique as a set.

I would love if Sleabo could do this, BUT this poor guy would have an enormous problem just producing the modifiers as well.

Hence I would be happy if he could even provide a full 86-Key set for us.  That would be a FIRST for him and his company and it would be the best outcome for us all.

The colour(s) would be specified then.  Everything would be on his shoulders to now give us a quote that he/us can live with.

(PS. I would be happy with any colour since his Caps are really nice to look at and use.)

yes I don't see a problem with different colours legend.
Might be looking at £75 a set, will have to confirm this, space bars excluded

Hi
yes I don't see a problem with different colours legend.
Might be looking at £75 a set, will have to confirm this, space bars excluded
Is this pricing for an 86 set still? What about for keys using just the sizes you don't already have in inventory (ctrl alt win menu shift caps tab enter backslash backspace)?

I don't mind this colour combination because it would go beautifully with the proposal of Hazard Keys, currently being discussed.
