I think depth carving will look better overall. The white interrupts the aesthetic a bit too much, in my opinion. Either way, this is a sweet looking board!Ah, in a few days, I'll go proofing depth carving version, and I will update the photos.
Very nice! I like the futuristic looking a lot. No weight design for this board?Thank you for your interest!
Oof this board looks pretty fkin sick.Thank you for your reply.
Given some high profile challenges around some GBs recently, would you mind telling us at some stage a little about your experience running GBs, the QA process, manufacturer, financial ability to cove unexpected events, etc? not needed at this stage of course, but something to consider if this moves towards a GB.
Idk this thing triggers me a bit. If it is necessary, does it have to be white?

It is mentioned in the OP that this is a mistake in the prototype - it is supposed to be engraved.
Fantastic design. I always think AirPotter's keyboards are so interesting!+1
Only issue for me is I would love the PCB to be compatible with QMK!
Any chance of a QMK PCB option?
I would prefer no etching or logos on top. I like the led strip on top of the board but don’t like the side one. Or as you said maybe one or the other. Shaping up to be a very nice board though!
Oof this board looks pretty fkin sick.Thank you for your reply.
But It seems SPACE65 is not suitable for you at all. :p
I don't like 65% boards.... but I like this!!Thank you very much!

Will the nameplate be available in brass? At which price point are we looking?Certainly, nameplate will have aluminum, 3D printing and brass three materials.

Any plans for adding split spacebar support?Well, I thought about that. I should add the option of splitting space. :)
Oof this board looks pretty fkin sick.Thank you for your reply.
But It seems SPACE65 is not suitable for you at all. :p
This must happen, because I think it’s the single best looking case design I’ve ever seen. If it’s even remotely attainable, I have no doubt that this will have me finally building a custom board.Thank you very much for your valuable advice.
I really like the idea of playing up the golden record theme a bit with a brass plate on the back (I bet black or etched lettering would look sweet if you did that). The wave symbol from the record is killer, and I’d love to see it featured somewhere more visible on the case. Putting it on the bottom instead of inside would probably look cool. Might be interesting to see what it looks like with that printed that and then etching in the space65/gray studio lettering instead of having them in white (or perhaps vice versa).
My opinions may be somewhat biased given that I’m literally wearing a Voyager 1 record hoodie right now.
My God! My English is so bad (most of the time I have to use translation software) that I misunderstood your meaning. I think the word "sick" is not good. It's ugly and sick. I'm very sorry to have misunderstood you.Oof this board looks pretty fkin sick.Thank you for your reply.
But It seems SPACE65 is not suitable for you at all. :p
How so? I love the design :D
ngl, this is coolThks verymuch!
Hey, hey, thank you very much! I'll try to match some more key caps to take some photos later. But when it comes to firmware, I asked my partner, he is familiar with the firmware of bootmapper. So the great possibility is the firmware of this version. But I will try to convince him. I will also send a form to solicit opinions.Given some high profile challenges around some GBs recently, would you mind telling us at some stage a little about your experience running GBs, the QA process, manufacturer, financial ability to cove unexpected events, etc? not needed at this stage of course, but something to consider if this moves towards a GB.
Either OP is really good with rendering and graphic arts or the prototype already exists. The board is shown with referenced Nantucket, Toxic (from China GB), 1965, and Chocaltier keysets. OP already has a GB for HB85 running through Z Frontier so there's that too.
It would be interesting to note what firmware the OP plans for the PCB.
Yes, I will proofread the same color version of logo and shell, and then compare the effect.Idk this thing triggers me a bit. If it is necessary, does it have to be white?
It is mentioned in the OP that this is a mistake in the prototype - it is supposed to be engraved.
Oh missed that, so it's just an engrave of the same color of the case i guess?
Wow, I love this design, your designs are always so interesting! :eek:Thank you very much for your compliment! I'm sure I'll split the space, but with firmware, my partner still tends to boot mapper (which is actually easier to use), see if I can convince him. With regard to logo, I will proofread it again, and I will apologize for it. I will update the content at the first time.
For my preference, I'd like to see plate & pcb that support split space 2.75-1.25-2.25.
I'd also prefer a qmk pcb. I hope there's a way to make those happen. I'd certainly buy!
For your proofing/testing, there is a spelling error on the red name plate. It says SPACC instead of SPACE :D
I'll be following this closely :))
Wow I want thisOh, thank you! I will update other contents as soon as possible.
Fantastic design. I always think AirPotter's keyboards are so interesting!Thank you very much for liking my design! I will try to persuade my partner to use Qmk firmware, although now he still wants to stick to bootmapper.
Only issue for me is I would love the PCB to be compatible with QMK!
Any chance of a QMK PCB option?
red nameplate has spacc65Ah, about the nameplate, that's a low-level mistake that shouldn't have been made. I'm sorry, but I'll get it back, finish the proofing, and update it as soon as possible!
best looking board I've seen in a while, and very original. Kudos!
I like this a lot. The branding is definitely too prominent for me with the white engravings, but if you can get them to look like the renders I think it would be acceptable. I'm thinking having both an LED indicator and cutout next to each other on the left hand side makes things a little busy and would prefer to see just one or the other.Ah, thank you very much for the space65! Solid color version of the shell, I will complete the proofing as soon as possible. With regard to the indicator light, I would like to send out a form to ask geeks’ advice. Maybe I can make two versions: side lights and no side lights :).
Count me as another +1 if there is a QMK pcb optionSo many choices of qmk firmware... I should try my best to convince my partners.
Any idea about the price? Will the keeb have more color options? Thinking about dark green or purpleAt the price, my initial calculation is 225 dollars. Excluding PayPal fees and express charges.
Also, for the little aluminium bar, its going to be any color or?
Ah ha ha ha, if logo and shell a color, it would not be so obvious. I will update the photos then. And I'll send a form for geeks‘ comments, or two versions directly: side lights and no side lights.
I would prefer no etching or logos on top. I like the led strip on top of the board but don’t like the side one. Or as you said maybe one or the other. Shaping up to be a very nice board though!
I would like a bit less brandingWell, thank you very much for your comments.

I have to admit the red keyset with the red board accent looks really nice.Thank you very much for your advice.
Suggestions for improvement:
The top stripe leds bleed their light towards the caps
QMK Support
More layout options (ISO, split space)

Thks frist!

Yea same! I would prefer not to have side LED. Makes it look like a toy and not a premium board. However I think the name tag looks nice and fits with the overall design quite nicely!
Interested, would like to see the design with the weight.Thks!Well, I will first update the rendering with weight. Actually, I prefer this version without weights, because he looks more concise and powerful.
I really like the design but the branding is a bit much.Well, I'll proofread a logo and case same color version. That would seem more calm and cool. The price should be set at 225 dollars(No PayPal fee and express fee).
+1 for QMK.
What's the price point you're aiming for?
i actually really like thisThks!
Could we get the new e-coat white finish on this one?Er,Do you mean the white case?
Looks nice but still more interested in the OblivionWith regard to Obilivion, I have modified the design of the bottom shell and expect to complete it better. I will update it separately then!
Looks great!Thank you very much for your interest in this design.
I like the design - nice clean lines and subtle use of color LEDs. :thumb:
Another vote for QMK
weiphoneHey, Dimo, thank you very much!
I like all the accent details !
very nice感谢大佬!头像令人过目不忘...
Oh, my God, I only now reflected how bad my English was. I need to improve my English (not just translation software). Thank you for liking Space65. I will update more content as soon as possible. I hope to have more communication with you. Thank you again!Oof this board looks pretty fkin sick.Thank you for your reply.
But It seems SPACE65 is not suitable for you at all. :p
This person was in fact expressing their positive response to your keyboard project. In colloquial English, the word 'sick' can mean something is extremely favourable.
May I also say this keyboard is 'the $hit'. And by that I mean it is extremely impressive and I admire the unique nature of the design.
Good day, sir.

I'm tempted to say keep the name as SPACC65 ;)
Yes, please support split backspace

This, and QMK as well please. I don't care about Bootmapper being easier to use, but I do care about QMK being available on Linux and allowing real, full programing capabilities.
Yes, please support split backspace
+1 another vote for split backspace!
Holy carp, insta-buy from me.
Could we get an option to get the pulsar map from the golden record engraved on the bottom of the case?
I really like the hydrogen bond distance and frame scan frequency in white/engraved. They're super awesome details in my mind! Pulsar map in white/engraved on the bottom of the case (where it can be seen) would just put this over the top in my mind.
(I'm a voyager fanboy)
I also support QMK.
As much as I love SA, which I do. Can we get some photos with some cherry profile keycaps as well. Or any other keycap profiles - xda, dsa. Not too fussy, just want to see how different keycaps other than SA look. Thanks! ;D
Sorry, I've been busy for a few days. Many replies can't be answered one by one. But I have seen all these replies, and these days will surely be dealt with one by one.
Love the design. Good side bezels. Great light bars. $225 sounds absolutely stunning. Want in for sure. QMK please please please. Bootmapper is absolute crap for RGB led control/options.
Fantastic design. I would love to see split backspace.
Looks like Mac & Windows. https://meckeyalpha.com/pages/guide-on-bootmapper-client
This IS a gorgeous keyboard!
Looks awesome. QMK and split space support would make this an insta buy for me.

Really digging the design. Personally, not seeing an independent weight is a plus for me. Will be following!
Any chance for Alps switches?
Design is slick. Would love to see a design with a brass weight as well :p
Would like to see taking out the Voyager 1 wording and the graphic on the bottom right corner (or you can engrave them on the nameplate?). And also wish not to have repeating Space65 wording. More colour options please.
Otherwise, a very good and refreshing effort from you.
Looks very good but I would go without the side leds, without weight and keep bootmapper.
$225 sounds perfect!
I like the side LED but would still be in if it wasn't available.
QMK please please please ;D
I think the voyager 1 on the side seems kinda weird, but the rest of the branding I like. Also I actually love both light bars! :thumb:
Please offer a white version with a black or blue nameplate. I'd like to pair this with SA Symbiosis
I love this!
I really like the accent lighting as it is, although I agree that depth cutting for more subtle references to the Voyager mission would be better. I love the look of the different colored plates. I'm in for 1 already, I think! Between the HB85 and this, it looks like I'm going to be a collector of your work!
oh dear, is bootmapper windows-only programming software?
I like the design of this keeb !!!
I think the design is great, and I'd like to request some small tweaks.
The side RGB window is looks neat - would it be possible to put one on the other side too?
I'd also prefer if the logo on the right were carved (and the same color as the case) rather than laser engraved.
I normally don't like excess bezels on a keyboard but this design makes it look really nice and the bezels aren't excessive!
I just want to know if there's a plan to use a black colored PCB and not the standard Green/Red?
It would pair really well with the carbon fibre plate and case color.
This looks awesome!
+1 for QMK
Yes, please support split backspace
But I think the feedback from IC form does not seem to like split spaces very much. But in the end, we still need to see the final vote.
Love the design. Hope the quality will be much better than cod67
This board is going to be my first 65%. I'm skipping on the KOYU for this.Location of the upper right LEDs on the canoe is not great. You can hardly see it at a normal type position with SA keycaps. The way Skog, CA66, or on the side are better options.
Split space isn't anything I'd be asking for.
I'm not sure how I feel about the light being upper left, that's just how I feel about it being a right-oriented guy. I really like where the light is on the canoe and the nameplate is on the e6-v2 or COD67.

When talking about this board, the light would simply be in a mirrored position on the opposite side, mitigating the relatively poor position on the Canoe.

Hmm still hoping for split space despite being member of a minorityThks, splitting the space bar I think I will do it :).
goood design!Thank you for your appreciation.
QMK is a great result! Thank you for listening to the feedback.:)Well, I'm sure I'll use qmk, about PCB. I hope to bring more surprises!
@Airpotter
Thank you for the IC results, glad to see QMK is coming.
Myself and a few others have mentioned about "split backspace" and not split space.
Here is a diagram to explain that:
(Not trying to be condescending, split backspace has been mentioned a few times and OP doesn't seem to be picking up on it)

When we are talking about split backspace it is No.2 on the diagram. Hope this clears up any misunderstanding and we see split backspace support on the PCB. :thumb: :thumb:

I see that 2.75-1.25-2.25. is in the picture. It puzzles me a little.

And I just want to consult you how the split spaces are arranged?
Well, I know what you mean. PCB supports split backspace.
Ah, I should be compatible both layouts in Space65.And I just want to consult you how the split spaces are arranged?
The boards I've seen usually allowed both 2.25/1.25/2.75 and 2.75/1.25/2.25. I personally would prefer 2.25/2.75/1.25 :)
Frankly I think it's fine if you choose whatever layout is easier for you to implement.
n00b here, if I wanted to get keycaps from here https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-mito-mt3-godspeed-custom-keycap-set?mode=guest_open for this board to support split backspace and split space bar, what kits would I need to get?Alpha (choose 1 of 4) + Modifier (choose 1 of 4)+ Split Spacebar

I love 65% boards, but for some reason blockers really bother me. I'm happy to get my own PCB/Plate, but it wouldn't work unless a board without blockers was available.

I want to get dsa mystery, which sets would I need to cover this?
From reddit (u/Graystudio): "225 dollars is the kit price(case, pcb, plate, light bar, nameplate and other accessories)"Let's hope not! I would really like this to stay under $250 ballpark.
This could certainly change by the time the GB comes around.
Definitely in for this once the group buy goes live! One question though, what cable is that in your pictures? Where can I buy one like that? I must have it.Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/5VJvmQL.jpg)

Hi, everyone.
I'll show a new design of 65% keyboards:SPACE65 ;D.
Here is a short IC form of SPACE65,Thank you for your reply: https://goo.gl/forms/9vWFF0DgV4knsqQ92

Space65 is inspired by two great feats of my mind in 1977: Apple II Computer and Voyager 1.
Apple II:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/Ar5RG2n.jpg)
Voyager1:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/fgYyKpw.jpg)
In appearance, I want to design an ancient and modern keyboard. At the same time, it must be very distinctive.
Now I have completed the design, and below are some details of my design.
On the top side of space65, I followed the wide sides and the concave design of Apple II`s keyboard (Details on the left and right sides).
Render:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/iH2L6IA.jpg)
On the bottom, I want to design as concise and smooth as possible and have characteristics. So I made an asymmetrical design on both sides.
Render:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/bWEoYDc.jpg)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/BzV9QNU.jpg)
On the back, I designed a nameplate that almost runs through the whole keyboard. And there is a convenient wing to pick up it.
Render:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/fXQshht.jpg)
And a RGB LED light strip on the left side(Made of acrylic by CNC).
Render:Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/hUgd4TK.jpg)Show Image(https://i.imgur.com/7gTmnWx.jpg)
I am a little worried the overall effect is not perfect, so I quickly completed the proofing to test the effect of SPACE 65(Especially the effect of RGB).
But after receiving the sample, I found a very obvious mistake.
Its about logo,I want is the concave effect by laser(reference render).
Then I got the keyboard,I found its the white mark of laser carving.

However, the overall effect seemed to be good enough...
So,now it deeply troubled me, I am struggling which looks better(about the white mark of laser carving or Depth of carving).
In a few days, I will proofread again, then compare the two effects.
Other details:
Case material:Anodized Aluminum 6061
Plate:Carbon fibre.
Angle:5 degrees
PCB:Bootmapper;two RGB LED light bars;Switch LED Position:South
Colors: Black , Silver, Gray, Blue, Red(Up to now)
What do you suggest for SPACE65? So hope you could provide it to me, and then we can better finish the design of SPACE 65.
Sorry, everyone, for I replied so late.
I looked carefully at the IC form,a total of 196 votes were received.

Looks really good manThks!
Are you still planning on offering a version with a brass plate for extra?Well, I should provide extra brass nameplates and plate as an option.

I am definitely leaning closer to definitely getting it than I was before. Was this addressed by op?
Any chance PCB could be USB-C + Hot-swappable switches?

Would like an option for a PCB with:
- South facing hot swap
- usb-c
- smd LED
- standard layout

I think it has 4/4 of those things are on this PCB. I could be wrong but that looks like a USB C footprint. It's got south LEDs. It has a standard layout. SMD LEDs for the top and side cut outs.
I doubt we will see hot swap as that limits the layout which in turn limits the amount of participants. Hot swap hybrid is definitely possible but have yet to see it be done. What I mean by hybrid is hot swap alphas and numbers and layout locked keys: tab, right shift, arrow keys, column 16 (far right column). This gives the majority of the board hot swap ability but still allows for every layout to be done on one PCB and one plate. Just reduces the overall amount of soldering.I am definitely leaning closer to definitely getting it than I was before. Was this addressed by op?

Ah,its south facing, but not hot swap.Because if have hotswap, there is no way to make compatible keys.
It is the usb-c interface;smd LED &standard layout all ok.
Any confirmation on the pricing? On page 2, OP states original price around $225 without PayPal and express charges (shipping?). Hopefully it stays around there but I would wager that the hand polished will cost a premium.

It would be great if you can too.I am definitely leaning closer to definitely getting it than I was before. Was this addressed by op?

I spy with my little eye something MAO white!!
I spy with my little eye something MAO white!!
If I'm not mistaken, that's actually silver. AIRPOTTER listed silver as a color option, but not white... "Colors: Black , Silver, Gray, Blue, Red(Up to now)"
There's a subtle angle to the board right? The earlier prototypes and renders looked flat to me. I'm wondering if I want to pair it with Godspeed or /dev/tty. MT3 profile is designed to be on a 5 degree angled board right?

any plans to make this with per key rgb?
I've been a lurker on GH for a long time. I made this account just now only to say this: PLEASE have a pink case for Laser! This case would be an excellent option for me if there could be a pink option which would be ideal for Laser. Similar to that of Laser ALT Dawn. This is a wonderful minimalistic but still very modern design perfect for those who feel that the 60%-66% range is their sweet-spot. The price is not bad either, very reasonable compared to some over the other releases recently and upcoming. Thank you!

And can it have razer switches?
love the idea & inspiration. great looking starts.
question: what set/keyboard are those red spherical caps in the photos in 1st post from?
